No iPhone for me this year, going to stick with my X for now (first time since iPhone 4, I’ve not gotten the new phone). But I am upgrading my Series 1 to a Series 4.

I preordered a little late (12:35a PT, 2:35a CT) and chose the 44mm Space Gray Series 4 with Cellular. Shipping date already showed October 5-11 as my estimated shipping date or an in store pickup at my local store for September 21st. So, I chose in store pickup. We’ll see, fingers crossed.

If you paid full price for an ATT SIM SKU, you get an unlocked phone. It will not lock. Don’t listen to these people that don’t know what they’re saying. Look carefully at the Apple site in the Compare options.

Last year i got my phone at the Apple store. They warned me that although a carrier phone says unlocked, powering it up with that carriers sim card activates their lock. You can still later request they unlock again, but are at their mercy/leisure...

Edit: A lot can have changed in a year, however.

This is no longer the case, for a fact. Especially if the phone is bought from Apple. Apple handles the logistics of all the locking. Should you pay full price, at least with AT&T, it will not lock. Period.

Go to a phone, select it under your carrier, and then click on “Compare your payment options.”

Look at the Row called “Unlocked”. Only AT&T Next plans are locked.

Meh. The unlock request takes minutes. I could be misremembering but it really doesn't make a difference. I just pay in full and churn my iPhones every time a new come comes out. Partly because I am a professional geek and my clients expect to see it, and partly because I have built-in resell customers with my expanded family. I was just happy to get this one so fast, the easiest order experience yet. I remember waiting 10 hours in line for the first one, and maybe 8 hours for the 4 or 4S because it was in that line I met my girlfriend. Sadly, we'd broken up by the 6S.

You know, for all the frustration I've had this morning with Verizon, I somehow got a ship date of 9/21 on my 40mm Silver watch *and* my X Max 256 in Space Gray. Good luck on getting the launch day pickup!

In China, gold Max is less popular than silver and grey. Delivery date for most Max is within October 4.

The app was down for a couple minutes after 12:01 but I was able to finalize order in two clicks. It happened so quickly that I thought it was a glitch. That was a very smooth operation. Already received confirmation email with 9/21 delivery date.

Here in Vienna, Austria. Just ordered iPhone Xs/512 space gray and leather case. Can pick it up at the shiny new local Apple Store on Sept. 21 noon.

Will sell my iPhone X as soon as possible, it looks and works like new. The main reason is the even better video camera with stereo recordings. Loved already the low-light capabilities of the X, here you have a clip I've made a few days ago:

Free wilderness, no zoo, no enclosure. Recording device: iPhone X. Original file 4K60. Stunning result for those very low light conditions in the dawn (05:30 am).

...just got my 1st iPhone (256GB XS MAX) & this is my 1st msg too, geez ! ...coming from a Nexus 6P & actually ordered MAX from it ! Apple website was pretty easy, must say ! never owned iPhone but familiar w/iOS...use a '14 Pro Retina 15" so felt like rounding out everything...looks like this is gonna be fun...oh, did i 4get ? splurged & gotta series 4 GPS/CELL 44 MM Gold SS w/Stone Sport Band...eh, why not ? YOLO, rite ?!! KA-CHING ! :p c'ya ! ;-}

Eddie, that you?

Ordered mine over the phone through Verizon an hour and a half after the pre order went live and still got a Sept 21st arrival date lol. Xs Max Gold 64g

Apple Upgrade program now includes a $30.00 "gouge you" fee from the carrier??? WTF!!! That's a new "fee" as I'm looking at last years iPhone 8 purchase Email.

Got 5 of the XS Max 256-512GB for my family plan (after doing the earlier pre-approval). This is my first time joining the iPhone Upgrade Program vs paying up front, and didn't think through some of the issues.

The process for EACH line started by asking for the carrier account's SSN, which I assume must use the primary account holder each time? So I ended up doing all 5 IUP applications under my name (as the carrier primary account holder), instead of naming each IUP under the appropriate family member. So I guess 5 pulls on 1 person's credit report. Which is the best way to go about this?

I also ended up using the same CC for all 5, but now worry the CC company might flag 5 duplicate charges each month as suspicious?

How do ya'll do the IUP for a family plan?

P.S. I also read that IUP forces you to stay with the carrier that you initially selected for the duration of the Apple payment plan, can this be true??

Probably the first year I don't feel the need to upgrade to a new iPhone. My iPhone X is just fine for now.
Had to get the Apple Watch series 4.
I only upgraded for display size reasons. The Apple watch is where it’s at. I had the first AW.

The last profile photo looks like a photo of 3 ball point pens or drawing markers with pocket clips.

Gonna wait until I can see the XS and XR in person, but not sure I'll even choose either of them coming from my SE. Holding out hope of a Spring SE 2 announcement.

I had the first until May this year, then it died. My fault, as I quite often did swim with it. Have the third series and I find it to be a huge upgrade on just about anything but design. This forth one seem to be a good upgrade, even for someone who own S3. I ordered. My cousin is buying the S3 that I have right now.

Apple is now accepting pre-orders for the new iPhone XS and XS Max models through its online storefront and through the Apple Store app.

Available in 5.8 and 6.5-inch screen sizes, the iPhone XS and XS Max feature super sharp edge-to-edge OLED displays with support for Dolby Vision, HDR 10, and Wide Color.

Design wise, the new smartphones look like the iPhone X with stainless steel frames and glass bodies, but there's a new gold color option, improved IP68 waterproofing, and the internals have been upgraded. The new iPhones are equipped with the A12, which is faster and more efficient than the A11.

Face ID unlocking is faster than before, and the dual-lens camera system has been upgraded with a bigger sensor for sharper, crisper photos in low light, plus there's a new Smart HDR feature that brings out more detail in images and a new Depth Control option that allows for adjustable depth of field.

Pre-orders are available in first wave launch countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Japan, Jersey, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the UAE, UK, US and US Virgin Islands.

All of the major U.S. carriers -- Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile -- are accepting pre-orders for the new devices, as are many other carriers around the world. Major online retailers including Best Buy and Target are also accepting pre-orders starting today.

In the United States, customers can purchase iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max models from any of the four major carriers using Apple's site, or choose a SIM-free version. That SIM-free models are available suggests supplies are plentiful, but it's still always a good idea to place orders early.

Customers who successfully place an order for launch day delivery can expect to begin receiving their devices starting on Friday, September 21, the official launch date for the iPhone XS and XS Max.

Just preordered an iPhone XS Max Gold 256 Sim Free for pickup on Friday morning! Can't wait to to back to a bigger phone!

Reserved myself a 64GB Xs on Apple's iPhone Payments plan (which is basically the upgrade programme without apple care, but still 0% over 20 months).

Comparing that (combined with my £21pm sim only contract) against the EE 2 year contracts (£83 a month) - I'll pay £1503 over 2 years for the phone + data whereas people on the EE contract will pay £1992 for exactly the same thing - an extra £500 over two years for literally nothing! Absolute robbery!

T-Mobile wasn't super smooth, but I got my order done within 30 minutes.

256 GB Space Grey Max. Set to deliver on the 21st.

SIM free still shows 9/21 pickup for all Max models except 512 gb. I wonder if they didn’t make a lot of those of if more people than expected don’t care about spending $1500.

As others have said, this had to be the best pre-order experience from Apple to date. No slow downs and the app was extremely easy to use. The app even knew I had the series 3 Apple Watch and offered a nice refund for trade in for the Series 4. Very nice!

That was the easiest pre-order ever. Opened up the app on my phone at 3:01am EST. At 3:02am, my order was done. Received the confirmation email at 3:05am.

Now comes the fun part of searching for the tracking number and tracking it and then the wait... Oh the wait!!!
