I like the x-r colors but it does look like a wanna be iPhone x and I can already see people thinking and bragging they have an iPhone X when in reality they will have a $300 to $700 cheaper phone.
For what?
Consider waiting for the XR? There are so many people out there with iPhone 5/6/7, so the XS isn’t a good upgrade for them either? Lol.
The XS may not have a TON of differences from the X, but it’s still a great phone. It’s a worthy upgrade for many people. These reviews really should be speaking to people who hold onto their phones for YEARS.
And the XS Max is definitely worth it regardless if you have an X or earlier.
Will the XR have the same longevity the XS has? I was thinking about paying the difference to get the XS sooner rather than wait for the XR
yearly upgrades are in the minority.Me. I’m going from X to XS Max.
My question is, will or is Apple still investigating Touch ID under glass?
Just as expected. Huge upgrade for users of older phones, but for iPhone X owners quite marginal, with almost the same experience unless you want bigger screen. I’ll pass on this one.
XS Max should’ve had Pencil support.
Doesn’t mean they don’t happen. The question was “Who is going from X to XS?”yearly upgrades are in the minority.
I do yearly upgrades and before 2014 it was sometimes 2-3 times a year. However I think that we are in the minority. Most people don't come on forums talk about their phones, they just used them. Personally I wouldn't go from the X to the Xs but will more than likely go from the X to the max. I'm just trying to convince myself why it's worth upgrading now, rather than waiting until my yearly upgrade in December.Doesn’t mean they don’t happen. The question was “Who is going from X to XS?”
I can upgrade anytime I want. The only question is if I want to wait until December or do it now. I'm just not seeing any must have features apart from the larger screen. I'm sure once the phone comes out tomorrow and we see some real life pictures that will be enough to persuade me.Larger screen, stereo speakers, far better camera and processor...the best iPhone Apple has ever made. The only people poo-pooing this are X owners who can't upgrade lol
Just FYI: The XR has the same number of points as the XS, but they are slightly smaller (153 instead of 163 points per inch). So you have the exact same information on the screen, but the XS displays it a bit larger. And in higher quality because of the 3 vs 2 pixels per point. With bad eyes, the XS Max has a bigger advantage.I didn’t upgrade my X to a Max for performance increases. I ordered it for the screen size. In my case that will make a huge improvement. And worth the upgrade alone. Especially for ppl like me with bad eyes that could use a bigger screen.
As the pace of innovation slowing and the smart phone becoming a mature product, coupled with excessively high pricing. I wonder if the volume of annual upgrades is decreasing.yearly upgrades are in the minority.
No, the 7, 7+, 8 and 8+ are cheaper than they used to be, the XS is same price but better than the X.The 6 Plus came out 4 years ago. Isn't everything more expensive now compared to 2014?
Compared to the XR, the UI on the Max is blown up by about 7% (that's why it is 6.5 instead of 6.1 inch), and the quality is higher (3 pixels per point instead of 2 pixels per point, which will make text sharper). Compared to the X or XS, you have more screen. More things visible.I'm confused... is the UI on the Max just blown up? or do you actually gain screen real estate. Looks like app rows are the same and icons are just bigger? Is that how it works across the board? everything is just bigger? ugh.
TouchID doesn't work with gloves either.yeah, I'd never compromise on safety. I never ride without full gear, boots, gloves and a full face helmet so it's likely I'll never be able to unlock my phone without removing my helmet or typing in a huge passcode.
With my plan, I could either upgrade, or just stop paying money for the phone. Upgrade doesn't mean your monthly cost goes up, it means you keep paying.Because it doesn't cost me any more money to upgrade every year, being that I'm on the Verizon iPhone Annual Upgrade plan. In fact, since I'm getting getting the Xr this year, my interest free monthly payment will actually be less than it was before.
To be more specific, I'm doing what you're doing--going from X to XS Max. If there were no 6.5" phone this year, I would have stuck with X. But I am on a Verizon trade in program where I can upgrade any time I want, so that always makes the decision easier.I do yearly upgrades and before 2014 it was sometimes 2-3 times a year. There are some that will go from the X to the Xs though.

Wait another year. They need something new to promote iPhone Xs Max 2 or whatever they call it.
Apple is great at delaying features to help future sales. This year they gave us a bigger phone and dual sim, no need to add pencil support.

I searched for information on LTE Advance and Gigabit LTE where one article basically said it was the same. I think people who live in large cities will benefit but there is no information at this time as to when and where it will up and running. It is good to know that all of the new iPhones have the capability to reach these speeds once the carriers have it up and running across the country.Correct me if I'm wrong - but where is the review of the new LTE modem? This looks to be one of the biggest speed increases since the release of LTE and people are just saying "the camera is the only improvement."
How did all of these reviewers miss this?
