My order has been processed via UPS! If you guys sign up for the UPS app you don’t have to worry about finding a reference number.

Checked my UPS app and I have a tracking number already. On Apple's site it still says "Preparing to Ship"

Was going to consider this as an option. The closest Apple store is a 4 minute walk, on Maddison Ave here in NYC. But the staff in our building are amazing. The concierge/front desk person and the doormen make sure we get our packages and they scan them and notify us via email - which is a nice touch. We have yet to have a package go missing.

Yes, this is a good option for people who live in apartments or condominiums with staff and services like yours. But, for those of us in houses that don't always have someone able to receive and sign for a package, store pick up is often better. And, as someone else pointed out, holding at a local UPS facility is another possibility. I've done that too.

Was not going to get an AW S4, my S2 was fine, not too slow, working perfectly. But I pushed through the guilt and succumbed. That was Friday morning at 3:06 EST. On Friday around noon my S2 died. One day left of AppleCare so they're sending a replacement, good thing because I'm giving the S2 to my wife. And they're letting me add AppleCare to the replacement one. All in all worked out well.

Also you’re going up a size, so I’m guessing you wanted to try out some added screen real estate and extra battery capacity.

I was from a Plus before the X. I got the X last year because of the physical size with almost the same screen size as the plus. So, basically the bigger screen real estate is what made me decide to get the Xs Max ... and the battery size, too, of course.

I’m so happy how B&H was down for maintenance today and that they’re gonna be closed for Yom Kippur on Sept 18th-19th, and says my Apple Watch Series 4 is backordered, even though I put my order through at 3:03am EST on September 14th :mad::mad:

Why they even held a preorder event at 3:01am is beyond comprehension.

I can’t necessarily put all the blame on MacRumors senior editor Juli Clover for her post (https://www.macrumors.com/2018/09/13/third-party-carriers-retailers-iphone-applewatch-preorders/) which swayed me to used B&H, but next year and every subsequent year, please please please Juli, don’t ever mention B&H as a third party retailer that offers preorders for any Apple product. You might as well have added eBay listings, which would probably get me the device sooner.

I feel your pain and I'm sorry to hear that you are having these issues. I hope it works out for you.

Both of my XSMax orders are preparing to ship. Can’t wait until Friday. I was surprised that the Max was first in selling its supply. It could mean it is very popular or it could mean that Apple underestimated the demand and did not have enough supply.

I think it definitely means it is popular. Apple made the mistake in the first two years of the plus phones of underestimating demand. The demand for the larger size has increased each of the four years they have been available. I do not think they are making that mistake any longer.

Picking mine up at 1000 on Friday so no need to wait for the delivery. I like being part of the action on day 1 but don’t like the wait so glad they have in store p/u this year.

My thoughts exactly. Love in store pickup.... walk up, wait a few minutes, walk out. No worrying about missing the knock on the door.....

I enjoy picking up in a store as well. However, my closest store is a three hour drive. We have typically stayed overnight when picking up in a store. Also, my experience has not been that it takes a few minutes when you are doing the iPhone Upgrade plan. It takes 15-30 minutes from the time they begin helping me.

I ordered a Max and it is also in the "Preparing to Ship" state. The order is going to ship to my house but I would like to change that and ship it to my office so I don't have to work from home that day. I've tried going to the Apple store, talked to the experts, etc. So far, I (and they) can't find a way to do it. I thought I would ask here. Maybe someone here knows a trick.

If I remember correctly, Apple only allows delivery to the billing address of the phone number for which the iPhone is tied to. I have inquired in the past about changing my delivery to my office and was not allowed for that reason. It is for security so someone doesn't gain access and change the delivery address so they can steal your phone. Having said that, if you have UPS MyChoice (see below), they have an option for changing pickup to a UPS location or another address. That may be disabled for iPhone deliveries but it is worth a try.

UPS is the shipper for my XS MAX 256 Gold. Reference# trick is now working (put phone# in reference field). It responds with "A UPS shipping label has been created", shows my destination city, and gives the real tracking number. (As of Sunday 7:42 AM CDT)

I got an email from UPS saying the same thing! I ordered through T-Mobile's website. I started to think I ordered something (or my kids did on their iPad) without realizing it. But, the only thing I've ordered is the iPhone Xs Max! My guess is that it will be held at my local UPS (where it arrived yesterday) until Friday. Bummer, I know. But don't be surprised if that happens. It probably has instructions on it. However, you know that in at least some places, it will be accidentally delivered tomorrow. So, good luck to you!

slick trick !!

Mine doesn't show anything. How did you format your phone # ?

TIP for finding tracking info...

I keep seeing this idea of using a trick to find your tracking number. UPS and FedEx allow you to create free accounts on their sites. UPS calls theirs MyChoice. When you create this account, you tie it to your home address. Once the account is created, you will get email notifications about upcoming deliveries and when things have been delivered (you decide on the notifications). However, you also have access to a calendar on the UPS website that shows you all upcoming deliveries and who they are from. If you click them, you will see the tracking information.

My phone is still not showing a tracking number even though I placed my order 5 minutes after my husband ordered his, and his has shown a UPS tracking number since early this morning, and it's shipping from ZhengZhou. I did order a different color (silver), so I wonder if it will ship from a different location?

This was our first time preordering at midnight, and both the website and the Apple Store app did not "go live" for us on time. It took opening and closing the app for about 5 minutes until my husband could access the app on his phone. He got through his order without issues. In the meantime, the website had finally opened up on my MacBook, so I tried to order that way since my app still wasn't working. Two failed orders with error messages. Then my app finally worked and I got my order in around 12:10. We then went back in to order the watches. Mine says shipping 9/28-10/2 and his says 10/5-10/12.

While I am looking forward to my Series 4, and that ‘new’ excitement, I am actually quite happy not to be part of the new iPhone ‘wait’ this year. I remember following on their tracker the progress of the UPS truck last year waiting for my X.

The only reason I preorder is the waiting to see what happens part. Lord knows I don't need the phone on launch day or the following week....or month for that matter. In fact I'd say maybe 1 out of every 10,000 people "need" their phones on launch day but hell it's fun lol.

The store didn't go live for me until about 12:05am. The app came up before the website did so I used that. Had my phone saved to favorites so I could immediately check out. Paid full price and my XS 256gb space grey is still stuck in processing with eta of 9/28-10/5.

Any San Diegans or Southern Californians with launch day delivery still waiting for shipped status or not showing up in UPS yet?

Same thing happened to me. The iOS app didn't go live until around 12:05PST. Ordered an iPhone XS Max 256GB space gray. I received my confirmation email at 12:10. As of Sunday afternoon my order still says Order in Progress Sept 28th - Oct 5th by Standard Delivery.

If I change delivery to a UPS store, what time could I pick it up?
If my research is correct, if you have your package held at the main hub or at your local UPS shipping center where it’s loaded onto delivery trucks, you can pick it up once they’re open.

It was crazy about the apps/website not going live at the same time on different devices, but we were just glad we were able to order and get 9/21 delivery. We had ours saved to favorites as well. Of course, I can see that my phone (iPhone Xs Max silver 64gb) is still available for pickup at our local store! Maybe mine will ship from a USA warehouse. Who knows?!

We're in San Diego. My husband's phone has a UPS tracking on it, but mine still doesn't. We both ordered iPhone Xs Max 64gb. I got silver and he got space gray.

What time did you have your orders placed? Ordered my 256gb gold iPhone Xs at around 12:03 am. The anticipation is killing me :p
