Picking mine up at 1000 on Friday so no need to wait for the delivery. I like being part of the action on day 1 but don’t like the wait so glad they have in store p/u this year.

This is why I prefer the in store pickup option. Less hassle, less likely to go "missing", and they are bound to have it. Yes, it is a drive to the store but I find it totally worth it, especially if you have plenty of Apple stores around.
My thoughts exactly. Love in store pickup.... walk up, wait a few minutes, walk out. No worrying about missing the knock on the door.....

I had my 7 plus Jet Black for 1.5 years now..wonder what I am going to do when I see in person Xs Max...probably, can't stop will trade

I'm jealous, this is the first time I've skipped two generations. The 7 still works for me, for the most part. Maybe next year!

UPS just updated with my shipment information. Delivers Friday Sept. 21 "by end of day". I prefer to have them deliver to the UPS Store down the street so I don't worry about missing the delivery at my house.

Reading all about these users upgrading from a X to a Xs Max, kinda got be conflicted about breaking my upgrade rule and waiting. But, when I seriously think about it, I have an iPad Pro 12.9, what more could I really want in a large screen iOS device?

Gonna remember this and skip it for sure.

Any ideas on which shipping company is being used? Most of the time it is UPS but there have been times when FedEx was used and times when both were used.

I checked the reference number trick and so far nothing but I wouldn't expect it to really show up until at least Monday at the earliest.

UPS is the shipper for my XS MAX 256 Gold. Reference# trick is now working (put phone# in reference field). It responds with "A UPS shipping label has been created", shows my destination city, and gives the real tracking number. (As of Sunday 7:42 AM CDT)

My tracking info says it will be delivered on Sept 17? Anyone else get that? I ordered on Verizon website.

I got an email from UPS saying the same thing! I ordered through T-Mobile's website. I started to think I ordered something (or my kids did on their iPad) without realizing it. But, the only thing I've ordered is the iPhone Xs Max! My guess is that it will be held at my local UPS (where it arrived yesterday) until Friday. Bummer, I know. But don't be surprised if that happens. It probably has instructions on it. However, you know that in at least some places, it will be accidentally delivered tomorrow. So, good luck to you!

Will this show for people who reserved for pick up in store as well?

Apparently not (see screenshot). This is the first time I've bought anything other than a computer for store pickup. I like that I won't obsessively keep looking to see if the order is preparing to ship. Not that I'm unexcited about upgrading from my Series 0, which is very slow and sometimes runs out of charge before the day ends, but this will be easier for me. The Apple Store is about 15 minutes away, and I won't have to worry about someone being at home to accept the package.

Picking up at an Apple store is the best option if you have one close to you. No BS of waiting for the UPS truck to arrive or missing your house, no need to be at home waiting to sign, etc.. Last time I showed up at the Apple store on my chosen time slot and got my phone within minutes and was out of there while next to me there was a huge line of people that were trying to by at the store whatever was left.

For “s” years it’s pretty common to have availability on or near launch date without preordering.

Even for my X I canceled preorder after checking in store availability (day after Friday launch), and was able to pick one up. Trick was to check Apple site early AM when stores updated inventory shipments that same day. At least in major southern CA cities was pretty easy.

Why go through 3rd party when it’s just as easy to use Apple.com ? Or were you trying to avoid paying taxes with B&H? I preordered Apple Watch through iPhone app around 12:15am (after iPhone order), and still have release date delivery.

Right on the money—I was lured by the no tax option and saved about $144 (2 watches). Prior to reading that post, I was already game to by it through Apple. Then enters Juli Clover. I thought it would be the same as purchasing from BestBuy or any other 3rd party retailer listed on that post. They are the ONLY 3rd party store on that list that had a pseudo-preorder at 3am.

Guess I put too much trust in a site with a senior editor that didn’t put a disclaimer and made it seem as if they were taking preorders, just like every other legitimate 3rd party retailer.

iPhone XS MAX 256gb Space Gray is showing preparing to ship. Apple Watch Series 4 SS Space Black is showing as in process. They are both expected to be delivered on launch, Sept 21st. I am on the East Coast. Not sure if that makes any difference.

I ordered around 4am PST, mine is preparing to ship. Been rocking a 5S for many years so this is going to be a huge change. Silver 64gb XS. Excited!

Btw, is it at all likely it could even show up Thursday? Or are they pretty good about sticking to the estimated delivery date?

They are usually pretty good about holding the phone until launch day. Apple has that set with the carriers. Wish they would just let them go out once they are ready.

Does anyone know when they will be on display in store? Monday already? Thanks!
They will be on display on launch. Sept 21st. Usually after they close on Thursday, they put up curtains on the windows so the people camping out can't see them until they open that morning.
