Here in Sweden iOS has over 50% market share yet almost all configs are still available for launch day delivery. Either demand is low or Apple is making a ton of phones. My guess people are saying no to the the prices, 512 Max is the equivalent of over 2000usd.

For me, one difference is in the Lytro(and L16)-like manipulation of the depth of field. I’m sure the two lenses of the iPhone Xs isn’t capable of capturing at the same level of quality as those, but I’m still interested in playing with it.

Just download Focos from the App Store and you can literally do the same thing today on the existing dual-camera iPhones.

Yeah, this is the first time in a decade I didn't replace my phone on launch day. The only two things that were enticing were 512GB and the HDR on the camera. Sticking with the X for now. Maybe until next year, or maybe later once I see if the new camera functions are worth it.

I did upgrade the watch series 3 for a 4 though. The ECG is a big draw...eventually I'm sure it will be continuous.

I thought the same thing. As much as I love and wanted the larger screen, (I had Plus phones for 6/7/8), I eventually got used to the smaller size yet relatively large screen of the X.

The Xs models are almost identical to what we have now. The differences are shockingly minor, even speed wise. And there was no way I could justify $1200+ plus tax just to get a larger screen... even half that (with a phone sale) was silly.

I have upgraded to every single new iPhone since the original. This is the first year I passed. That says a lot.

The Apple Watch however, that was a HUGE upgrade. 2X the speed, bigger screen, thinner, more battery outside, 2X louder speaker, much more accurate movement tracking, ECG and on and on. That was worth it, so I got one for launch day.

Looks like Launch Day delivery is done. Good job. Next year the iPhone will be $100 more expensive.
The Xs (not max) is still available for launch day delivery. My guess is that Plus owners who didn’t want the X last year are buying the Xs Max.

With those prices people may be waiting for the Xr. Supposedly that’s the one Apple expects to be the biggest seller.
[doublepost=1536954705][/doublepost]The watch looks like a hit. Just about every model is at 10/12-10/19 dsliver, and some of the Hermès models are sold out.

Not slipping as crazy as I had thought. Could it be the prices? I think when I preordered my AW2 by this time it was telling me December.
I think their supply chain has improved. I don't think the prices are terrible - the 256GB Max is only a couple of hundred more than the samsung 128GB note 9.

If you've paid for your watch, how long do you have to pick it up in store if you can't make the pick up window?

Well, the Xs Max 512gb seems like Apple is seeking the limits of what people will buy in meaningful numbers. It's so over the top & so expensive that if someone wants to order it, there'd better be availability - big spenders are not customers you compromise over. Those buying low end are largely willing to wait a bit for supply to catch up; make sure high end stocks are sufficient.

I ordered the iPhone XS Max 512 Space Gray at approximately 3:05 AM EST and my estimated shipping date is between 10/5 and 10/12. Not cool.
Same here, but after my bank called to make sure I had made the purchase, I checked my order status again and it updated to 1 - 2 weeks.

It would be nice if it updates again to September 21st, but if not that's cool.

At 3:15am EST, all storage tiers for each color were available for the Xs Max.

I see Best Buy is selling them at full price too. Do they come unlocked? I thought they got rid of that option when the X released?

I think this is THE update that is getting most Series 0 holdouts to upgrade. I know I'm one of them.
Yep! That’s me, too. I’ve been holding out because the series 2 & 3 were “fatter,” and didn’t offer enough of a difference to pry my faithful series 0 watch off my wrist. Series 4 may not be the same as Series 0 in thickness, but it’s thinner than Series 2 and 3. And the reworked screen is a major and important improvement.

And I’ll be getting all the other goodies as well (cellular, speed, swim proof, heart monitor). Win-win.

Still...of all Apple products that I’ve owned, I’m really attached to my Series 0 watch. It’s one of those devices that I may hold onto, and have on hand to use “in case.”

True but alot of people aren't buying the note 9 because of the high price either. I got a note 8 and didn't upgrade cause its not that much better that what I have now.

I had trouble ordering on Apple.com last night. Apparently, my credit is in the tank after a bunch of expenses getting our condo ready to sell. We sold, and I've paid all our debt, but apparently, my credit score hasn't caught up (I didn't miss any payments, but the balances were really high).

So, I jumped over to ATT.com and bought from there. They say I can expect delivery on the 21st.

Well, your premise is already completely wrong as the 512 GB models were some of the first to slip in terms of shipping dates. Not that that is relevant anyways without knowing what initial stock was on hand.

As for people who can afford something that might be out of your own personal price or comfort range being less patient, is again, not based in reality.

Finally, a $1500 consumer electronic is hardly what I would call being a “big spender”, considering, as just one tiny example, that many people can conduct a huge portion of their work from their phone now. Or here’s another: designer selvedge from Japan or $100 t shirts.

I had done the apple upgrade plan and started with the pre-qualification in the early am. From California and I ordered the Xs Max in Space Grey 256gb.
When the offers went live I completed my order immediately, but order confirmation didn't come through till 12:30. The expected delivery is Sept 28th - Oct 5th. Not sure what happened with that delivery time. It kinda seems like my order hung for bit when it was hitting their billing services and the lag caused a delay in my order and causing delivery estimates to be pushed. Bummer.

I either have to pay to fix my 6 or buy a new phone. Had the XR been available today that is what I would have ordered. It wasn’t, and I have business trips coming up.

This iPhone will only be the 3rd one I’ve owned. I got the 4s in 2011, the iPhone 6 in 2014, and if I had been able to get my 6 fixed in August I probably would go at least 1 more year with it. I don’t tend to buy phones as fashion accessories.

"Beginning" to slip?! My a**!
That fracking store didn’t come online until 3:07 am eastern time, giving everyone else a head start.

It took me :45 seconds to order. When I started it said delivery on Sept. 21. After the order was completed, they gave me a date between Sept. 25 to October 5.

I am just furious. I have a small window of available time and this probably isn’t going to cut it. But if I don’t order now, my schedule would put me into February, 2019 to be available.

A trillion dollar company that has to keep their website down ALL day to "prepare" and they can’t get it up and running at the stated time is ridiculous.

Extremely disappointed in Apple - more than I ever have been.

UPDATE: I wrote the above earlier this morning.
Later on I emailed Mr. Cook and called Apple and explained my plight in kinder language.
He read my email and assigned it to someone to try to help me out. I was quite surprised to receive a call from the young lady who will be quarterbacking this.
Even a day or two sooner would be a huge help to my situation.

I've got the S2 still works great for everyday use, was tempted to upgrade but couldn't really justify the price. New watch screen is impressive but can't say I spend much time looking at my screen. Will be interested to hear if those who upgrade really feel its worth it.

The screen is a big upgrade but to be honest the new faces and UI and especially the speed bump will be some of the best. The S2 still works but it’s painfully slow a lot of the time (I’m looking at you native workout app!)

My contract with Verizon actually ends on the 24th of this month (I’m switching to at&t) and so I needed to make sure I got this one on launch day or else I’d be a college student without a phone for a couple weeks. I wouldn’t just already have this phone laying around, please stop acting like you know people’s stories when you know nothing about me.

Still not a panic worthy issue. A bit stressed I can agree with that matching your situation. Panic is the wrong work to describe your feeling, unless that is what you felt, then you have bigger problems my friend.

Do like the Breath app on AW, you may live a less stressful life. No Apple product or technology is worth the stress or a billing cycle, in the grand scheme of things you are making a mountain out of an ant hill. Remember relaxxxxxxxxxx. :D

I wished they streamlined the Apple Watch buying process like this did with the iPhone. By the time I finished my iPhone order my watch purchase slimmed a week in delivery time and I order the watch a few minutes afterwards.

The phones have gotten real good nowadays, so no point in upgrading every year like before. If my phone had broke, I probably would have gotten either a note 9 or the Xs Max or even the upcoming OnePlus 6t at $600. Hard to get a bad phone these days. The days of people waiting in long lines for a new iphone are probably gone.

For the first time ever, I actually managed to get through to the pre order page via the Apple store app by 08:02am in the U.K., reserved 256gb Space Grey Max... but now I think I could be regretting not selecting the gold. I love the gold stainless steal band, but not sure about the tone of the glass back. Ahhhh why do you do this too me apple.

Price doesn’t matter...people paid it last year, they’ll pay again.

This design is a year old, so Apple likely has a ton more supply. Last year, they had a major supply constraint with Finisar for a Faceid sensor.

Is this fake news?

I rolled out of bed, got on the bus to work, and 30 minutes in (at about 6:45 EST) decided I'd order one and got in-store pickup on the 21st.
