Okay so I've had last night and all this morning to get a feel for it and am agreeing with a lot of the opinions above. It's definitely heavier feeling that the 7 Plus that I'm coming from, which we know is the case anyway from the specs. It's noticeable on pickup and after holding for a while. (I still have the 7 Plus here for the weekend until I post it off to a buyer.)
The XS Max is way nicer to hold though as it's slimmer and am expecting to get used to the weight soon. Putting Apple's leather case on the Max does seem to push it over a threshold where I consider it weighty in a way that some older devices were.
As for the guys suggesting that it's lighter than the X. My other half has an X and that nonsense gave us the giggles. You'd have to be a pretty ridiculous person to say something like that. 174g v 208g. That's 34g difference.
In terms of devices of this weight class.. that's a huge difference!
Anyway, weight isn't the biggest gripe with the Max. It's the apps. Most of my apps look rubbish at the moment. Resolution isn't quite
retro, but you do immediately notice it when you open almost any non Apple app. Everything looks like a step backwards compared to my 7 Plus and the X. We had a nice side by side comparison of apps last night on the 7+, X and Max, and the Max lost every round.
Photos and videos look great though, no issue there, it's nothing to do with the screen. It's just the scaling. When apps get updated soon the Max is going to be legitimately gorgeous!
Oh, my other gripe - books. Last night in bed was the first time I noticed the notch when reading. Hit me like a brick. Bit of a sad panda, but again, I'll get used to it. Don't think the notch will bother me or even get noticed any other time though.
11 or 12 will be close to the ultimate phone. No notch and lighter, but same screen size. Larger camera sensor. Voila. Can move phone resources towards the Apple Watch and speed up its improvement then. 13 and 14 will have really impressive stabilisation tech. Check out the Go Pro 7. Very impressive. That tech is getting smaller, will be small enough for phones soon.

It's light to me. You just need to hit the gym.
Post a vid of your max deadlift/bench/squat and your bodyweight so we can see what strength class you fall into. Just so we can see that you're legit of course, you won't mind since you brought it up of course?
(Yes this is where you worm out of it and say or do absolutely anything except prove you're legit).
