Hello, try this ... You have to deactivate Force Touch and then force a reboot ... The difference that I notice is very big. Try and comment please ...
Forgive my English, but I am using the translator. I reacted my previous message; Try turning off 3D Touch and then forcing a reboot and the result is a very big improvement. Try and comment please ... I've been with this configuration for several days and I'm quite happy with the result ...

This does not solve the issue on my devices sadly. You guys had me excited for a moment then!

Hello everyone !
Looking some fix the issue just try change icon app position on home screen.
The resolution of our screen is different then all app. Open, close, scrooling provide stuttering and animation lag. In some reason trying remove and change app icon on dock bar, give some smooth improvment. Just try...

Im trying to say that something on a background , some app and their position is bad scalling, this give negative impact in whole system. Some ppl have this issue some not, just becouse of different placement of icon bar and what app we use. What do u think all ??

The second beta of iOS 12.2 has just been released for dev.
Can someone check if the stutters issues are solved ?

This is actually the most iphone issues on the forums I've seen in a long time when it comes to the list of problems on the supposedly latest and greatest iphones...............

I bought an iPhone XS 2 days ago to replace my 7 plus. Sadly I have this issue too. I am very disappointed, being a long-term apple customers that have bought tons of devices since the release of iPhone 4S.

I have noticed some stuttering yesterday, but I was setting up the phone, and I thought it was because of indexing and stuff... but after the phone settled down I've noticed some stuttering, I have found this thread and I can confirm.

1) Very big and noticeable loss of frames when closing apps (swiping up) after 5-10 seconds of inactivity.
2) Very big and noticeable loss of frames when closing games, regardless of inactivity. It happens also with games that are not that graphically intensive (e.g. Hearthstone)

I used to experience stuttering on 4-5 year old Apple devices OR on android devices. My 7 plus was butter smooth on iOS 12.

This is not acceptable given the fact that the phone has a powerful hardware and it costs more than 1k. Where's famous tight integration between hardware and software?

I've sent apple a feedback...and I am thinking of returning my phone now.

As I said before. Apple dont care about this. Dont read, listen, and even think about trying to fix this. The worst thing is All new line phone 2019 give us stuttering to and frame drop to. This is their power saving **** POLITIC. We are not a sheep. We dont buy apple anymore.
[doublepost=1549365018][/doublepost]THIS IS NOT SMOOTH =PREMIUM QUALITY ANYMORE.

I don't understand how it is related with power saving? It's just an animation. We had animations also on older iPhones with no throttling, power saving politics or whatever, on iOS 12 my 7 Plus was butter smooth with a great battery life
[doublepost=1549365403][/doublepost]For now I solved the issue by activating the "reduce motion" feature... apparently the problem is just the animation itself

AND PEOPLE, stop looking for apple new phones. They have to fix this first!!!!! and take care... this force them to working on Real issue .

Maybe we should open a new thread with a poll to have an idea of how many XS are affected by this? Is the iPhone X having this issue too?

They do nothing on battery improvement. Putting more powerfull hardware provides more heat and battery drain. Power saving and all kind adaptive mode force cpu and gpu to downclock. To keep battery allive. This is not good for customers. Wakeing up performance when you really need couse frame drop and even bad scalling.

If this is true the same issue must be available also on the iPhone X. Any evidence of that?

[doublepost=1549366628][/doublepost]Yes I have iPhone X and situation is the same as Xs.
[doublepost=1549366888][/doublepost]Dont buy any new apple devices before they fix all of this things. Amen.

This is straight up not true. None of the iPhone X test devices we have at work exhibit this issue. Furthermore, the iPhone Xs is far from the first device to downclock when it's not under load. Intel CPUs have been doing this since the early 2000s.

You seem to think you have a far better grasp on this problem than you actually do based on your posts in this thread. I understand you're angry - I am too, but the nonsense you're posting is only a few steps away from technobabble.

Also, if the problem is downlock, why this issue happens only when closing apps? I'm sure downclocking would happen in other occasions too. It seems a bug to me, maybe related to some animations specifically. I haven't experienced any other stutter except in this particular scenario.

My Xs max is stuttering, and lagging like hell with iOS 12.1.3 . The best version for Xs max was iOS 12..
The situation is beginning to be worse with every version witch is released..

Dont buy anything from apple boy before they fix all bug.
[doublepost=1549385463][/doublepost]BTW „TEST DEVICES ARE NOT THE SAME AS NORMAL UNIT”

Let's clear a couple of things up here:
1. I started this thread to confirm whether or not this behavior was happening on other devices or if mine was defective. I had no illusions that this thread would push Apple to fix anything.

2. Test devices are very much production hardware. This issue occurs on fresh installs of iOS. There is no reason to suspect that test apps running in the app sandbox would meaningfully influence the performance of the device.

3. I don't care about sticking it to Apple. I don't actually have the ability to do that, and neither do you. What I do care about in this case is being upset about things that are truthfully happening. You're spewing garbage.

4. What is your definition of "fix all the bugs"? All software is imperfect. This is just another bug. I'm not going to stop buying Apple products which I believe are superior in many other ways just because of a slightly annoying bug.

I'm not going to respond to you anymore because this exchange is ridiculous.

U are apple defender on shining Armor, no matter what they do. They bad News is they dont care about this, couse u start this thread. ;)

This issue is not present on iPhone X models but is present in iPhone XS models. We have done extensive testing on various devices and this is an issue only with XS.

Some good news:

I can't go into details as I'm bound by NDA but following our exchanges with the Apple bug team we have managed to stop this issue occurring in our app. The issue can be solved with software. I don't know when or if Apple will get around to implementing these changes in their iOS, but it appears it can be done.

Funnily enough from what I can tell it looks like the XS is a little *too* fast :D

It seems that being too loud about this issue on Apple’s own ground backfires. Attached is my final warning from them. I also got warned for “beta” word in my posts, although there are many that contain this kind of expression. So it’s not about inappropriate posts as they say.

Let's hope they will fix it soon because all this stuttering when opening, using and closing apps is annoying. Today I also got stutters while swiping in the mail app and instagram.
