Maybe we should go back to the old days?

I used to always joke about Apple putting too much focus on making things thinner and lighter, but now I actually miss those days. The X and XS feel super heavy compared to my 7, not just in my hand but especially in some of my shorts where I put it in the front pocket. I can even feel the difference in weight even between my 6 (work phone) and 7.

Yeah, because I don’t know about everyone else, but when I hold my iPhone I think to myself “this is too damn bulky”

/s

Since getting the XR, that's exactly what I think! It's very difficult to hold and use in one hand. I always felt the SE size was perfect for me, but now I go back to my SE and think it's SO tiny! Now I believe an SE with an XR-like edge-to-edge screen would be an ideal size.

Get rid of that protruding camera lens and add more battery thickness.

I know the whole “Steve would never have allowed it...” cliche is so nauseating, but I honestly believe the protruding camera is an example where it’s true (along with the removal of MagSafe, illuminated Apple logo, selling iPhones that can’t be plugged into Macs out of the box, and a number of iOS user interface design choices).

"The bigger advantage for Apple may be reduced costs, as the report claims that the Y-OCTA displays are less expensive to manufacture, lowering the iPhone's bill of materials"
^^^^sure - I bet this means you will get lower iPhone prices /s

I personally much prefer a thin and light phone compared to say the XR. I do not this trend of big heavy phones.

It makes it feel more premium than the iPhone 7 as an example.

It’s just a phone which may feel “premium” only until the next shiny one comes out. You know, “iPhone (whatever) is the best iPhone we have ever built!” mantra and stuff. In my observation, nowadays nobody is falling off a sidewalk when seeing somebody holding a shiny iPhone XS Max. I guess the hype is over, so we may happily stick to whatever iPhones we have. :)

In my opinion, the phones are thin enough. I'm more hopeful that they make them lighter; the XS Max is very heavy compared to the X or 8 Plus.

However, with the back glass, I'm not sure how you fix it without going back to plastic.

I've kept my 6S because:

1) It has the 3.5mm jack I still use … and yes, I have Bluetooth headphones.
2) Thickness, size and weight are perfect (newer models are thicker and heavier … which sucks)
3) The screen size is perfect.
4) No "bend gate" issues
5) I just got a new battery from Apple, so battery life is like new.
6) You can keep facial recognition … thumbprint works perfect, especially when I drive and want to keep my phone below the windows to unlock without law enforcement seeing.
7) I don't give a crap about wireless charging if it means a thicker and heaver phone.

I feel Apple has been grasping at straws to "improve" the iPhone over the past few years. It kind of feels like they are reaching a point of diminishing returns. Remember when they used to brag how each new iPhone was thinner and lighter, I guess those days are gone LOL.

BUT … I will say that finally the iPhone supports dual SIMs … a fantastic idea for international travelers or those who want dual numbers (i.e., work and personal) without the need for a data consuming and battery draining VoIP app to get a second number.

My Wishlist … give me an enhanced 6S with an updated processor and dual SIM support, you can keep the rest of your crap and that glass back wrapper too!
