It's iPod TOuch not iTouch that really makes me mad when people say iTouch they sound like idiots who don't know anything about technology.

Duuude. Slow it down before you bust a head gasket. It's not that serious.

so much discussion over what people call the ipod touch. good lord, get a life, people. there's a war going on, a presidential election, the economy sucks, college tuition going through the roof . . . but let's gripe over someone calling the touch an itouch. yeah, this is a place for apple rumors, so how about talking about the apple rumors instead of boiling over on symantics.

Oh hey, don't forget Hurricanes - Been watching Hanna for days to see if it will hit my part of NC.

Ok, back to your rant.....

WE live in a ME generation, that has become non-tolerant, but must be tolerant over the wrong things. if people don't like what you say they will slam it in your face, but don't you dare say anything.

Truthfully, this world is about to boil over and with this presidential election being a 3-ring circus, it only going to get worse.

Now Back on Topic;

I have a 15gb 2004 model (classic or is that antique). This new one better be something good for me to upgrade and it better be priced right. As it stands now I have no use for this until it becomes more like a PDA, right now it is too close to the iphone, but still lacks features to make it anymore useful for me to want to carry it around.

To me, I say take the iphone and do the following:

1. Put a big drive in it to hold about 200 songs, plus our documents, emails, etc
2. copy/paste
3. make it work with iwork so that we can edit our documents on it.

Ok, just give me my tablet with a phone......

Is anyone actually thinking of a possibility that the 8gb will be discontinued and we will see the 16gb as a starting price point (299)?

I thought that was all but settled.

8GB is just too small now, especially for Apple's flagship iPod. There's hardly a chance they'll keep it.

Don't forget that the new iPod touch has a curved back, so while on its thickest part it can be thicker than the existing iPod touch, the overall volume can be either bigger, the same or smaller than the existing one.

Good point - same on the Nano - the volume is just a calculation from the stats on that page and the stats on Apples site for the current modles - neither take into account tapering.

The current one doesn't hold more than 200 songs?

No. It's not like plastic won't scratch either. Anyone serious about keeping scratches off would buy a case anyway. From a design standpoint, a metal back owns a plastic one.

Okay, but my iPhone is certainly more scratch resistant than my nano was.

IMHO this ipod nano design looks better than the current one. I think the slim form factor is better when you are into sports.

Don't be smug, even to idiots, or nobody will like except the smug

It's iPod TOuch not iTouch that really makes me mad when people say iTouch they sound like idiots who don't know anything about technology.

While it used to bother me, I'd really rather not keep saying "iPhone/iPod Touch" when referring to the platform.

In that context, I think "iTouch" works well as a catch-all moniker for Apple's touch devices, which run the same software/os/are the same platform.

In a Mac-only circles where the specific device is referred to, I'd probably just call it the "Touch" :p

I don't want to alarm anyone, but I think somebody on the internet is wrong.

:)

I'm just kidding, iTouch kinda bugs me too. Nobody says iNano, so what's with iTouch?

But at the same time, the last time I went on a crusade to correct everybody on the internet, I eventually got hungry and I had to go to the bathroom, so I lost enthusiasm for the project. Besides, it just devolved into bickering with my American friends over the U in Colour and Flavour.

Best just to let the wrong people be wrong and not waste pixels on it, unless it's life threatening or has other severe real-world implications.

What was that quote... "the problem with arguing with a fool is that it's hard for other people to tell who's the fool" Something like that.

Ok, Maybe you sparked my interest.....

I do have one request:

ALLOW THE IPHONE TO RUN ON OTHER NETWORKS... I am locked into Sprint until 2010 and eligible for a phone upgrade in a couple of months. Please do not make me go with the new Samsung that heavily rivals the iphone.

Now does this thing still have the standard connector, so that I can still use my fm transmitter? I heard even in 2009, radio reception has to go digital as well, and all analog car radios will not work. i am not about to spend $800 for the dealer to put a new radio in my car (the way mine mounts, you have to remove the entire dashboard - arg these new cars. Cars 1990 and older I can repair everything myself; no thats impossible).

The current one doesn't hold more than 200 songs?

It does, but my point is once you start loading document, apps, movies, etc. you lose space. What I am looking for is something that I will not have to carry my laptop around when I am on a w/e out. or on a week vacation. I want to hold about 3 movies, 200 songs, keep in touch with my email, and work on my documents.

90% of what I do is over the internet while i am away from home.

So aren't you just wishing for a larger hard rive? The amount of songs it holds is really up to you. As you get more apps and documents you could just sync less music.
