Oops. Met her through World of Warcraft. They're good mock-ups, though.

Her first mistake was claiming it was a 60 gb, after the Newsweek article came out.

There is no way she could pump them out that fast though. We just got the newsweek cover a few hours ago, just not enough time to put out four pictures like that.

I wish they weren't fake, but she's messing with us, because she's evil.

Wow she is good then. But hey you never know. they look a lot like the newsweek cover. ;)

Yes, and right after we officially salute her, we can let my official stoning begin.

same battery, longer life ?

They were able to make the iPod thinner because the drive is now embedded right into the circuit board rather then simply being dropped into the shell and attached with a bulky ribbon connector. Even though it is thinner, there still should be enough room for the same size battery. That battery can have a couple of hours more charge to it if they use a different version. Several replacement batteries available do hold longer charges. The battery issue is for most people a non-issue. If it was and Dell and other players with supposedly longer battery life would be selling better. But, guess what, they're not.

Nice job piecing together old HD news with this -- makes perfect sense.

On the battery issue, though ... the easy way to increase battery life is to increase the RAM. Store more songs in RAM and you have to hit the HD less, (also spares using the backlight, if you have it on at all). Plus you get the added advantage of increase anti-skip time.

Limited RAM is probably my biggest peeve against my 3G: I routinely hit the anti-skip limit while jogging, then have to stop (running), stop (my iPod), then wake it again, wait (to run), until it queues up songs. Pain.

I'd buy a 4G for sure if it has more RAM.

The scroll wheel is nice, too. ;)

The battery is probably the same. From the article:

This is accomplished, Apple says, not by a heavier battery but diligent conservation of power.

Battery life is a great bonus. People may buy the iPod over other players anyway, but I bet we see a lot of people upgrading their current models once this news becomes widespread :)

If only we could see what Apple wanted those 60GB drives for. If we don't see them Monday, I'll be waiting.

Xidius, your pics look really good though! I wish they were real. The gray click wheel looks kinda lame compared to your white one...

Hey, that was a long time ago. I have matured a lot since then, as you can see.

Hmm. I wonder if SJ knew that the article would be available online before Monday. On the face of it, this is indeed reminiscent of the iMac / Time Magazine leak.

Hmm again. The new iPod is white; some people were speculating (perhaps hoping) that it wouldn't be. Makes me wonder if the new iMac will again be white - I also wonder if it will employ an active lighted enclosure which Apple patented a couple of years ago. Won't be long before we find out!

Active light enclosure would be pretty radical. I dont think we will be seeing it until new organic led tech gets better.

The top-of-the-line iPod, holding 10,000 songs (40 gigs, as geeks will tell you), now costs $399. The lower-capacity model, with room for 5,000 songs (20 gigs), costs $299. That's a $100 price reduction for each. (There's no more 15-gig model.)

Here's what bothers me even more about SpyMac

it's already established that the pics from spymac are fake
Xidius does this stuff for a living and shes good at it

At the MacWorld Expo Boston they undisputed had the best booth, promoting their SpyMac suite of services.

One of the things they mentioned there is that in order to be an officially recognized Mac Users Group, they had to stop posting rumors.

Let's not forget that this is the site THAT NEVER said the iWalk was a hoax - which it was.

They regularly post rumors on the site about 3rd party and Apple offerings. In January they posted a rumor about the Griffin iTalk - while true, it's still a rumor.

There is absolutely NO WAY I would trust my personal information to this site. If the owners of Spymac are creative with their site beyond belief, you can be assured they are creative with the uses of your personal information. I see it as one of the only ways they could pull in good money.

SpyMac moderators also troll the web looking for nasty things to say to their critics. Forums there move horribly off topic and most contain two word posts and foul language.

I'm guessing when the 60gb model comes out next month with that Toshiba HD, it will be $499.

So it will look like this:
20gb $299
40gb $399
60gb $499
