Lol @ your photoshopped iTunes image. Even Grab doesn't produce thing like that.

I'm pretty sure he posted a screenshot of his iPod updating in iTunes under XP earlier, which would explain the horrendous quality.

Just got it.

About 5 minutes ago the iTunes update said my iPod Touch was already up-to-date. Checked again and it said a newer version is available, but the link has yet to work to the store.

What the hell?

An accounting requirement? All the more reason to screw them over, surely.

apple is a public company. it would not be in the interest of the shareholders to give away and/or enhance products for free. there has to be something in the books regarding a sale of some sort.

i don't think it's right, but it's the law. what can you do.

they can justify free upgrades for the iphone because apple receives a cut of the monthly cost.

this is taking a really long time!!!!!

does anyone know how big the file will be when the ipod touch update finally starts working!?

I just emailed Steve and stated my extreme dissatisfaction with Apple over the past few days. I said that Apple needs to get its ass in gear if it wants to keep its customers. I also said that their is absolutely no reason that I should have been without webmail for over a day, and that there is no reason I should be clicking the update button in iTunes for two hours to update my iTouch which still isn't updated. I also Said th . at I hope that some heads in Cupertino are going to roll for the major inconveniences that have occurred over the past few days. I also said that I and all other iTouch owners are just as important as his precious iPhone customers, and that we shouldn't be inconvenienced just because we aren't paying $70+ per month, and that I would appreciate a response explaining how Apple plains on making this up to its customers.

We'll see if I get a response.

Don

Your complaint about webmail is legitimate, the system should certainly not have been down as long as it has been. With respect to the firmware update, give it up. They said it would be available the 11th and the day is still young. Quit sitting in front of your computer clicking - go outside, go to work, go do something. Apple may owe you something for your web mail inconvenience, but they owe you nothing for your iPod troubles. If it doesn't come out today, contact them and see what the situation is.

s**** this is gonna take for ever for me cause im not at home and the internet at my current loction is very slow!!:mad:
I wouldn't worry, you're not going to get a fast download anyway considering how many other people there are downloading it.

What the hell?

An accounting requirement? All the more reason to screw them over, surely.

A requirement of US Anti-trust laws.

It isn't apples fault.

They could charge a penny if they wanted, but that would be stupid.

$10 is fair.

What the hell happened?!?!? I went to update and it doesn't work! I deleted all my music and videos too so that I wouldn't have to back them all up! :(

Right, I'm new to Macs and something of an idiot. How do I install this now that I have it? Double-clicking does nothing. Shift + update also nothing.

Couple of things:
First for those using a MAC specific keyboard you don't push the Shift key you hold the OPTION key and press the UPDATE button. You'll be prompted with a file dialog box, choose the file you you just downloaded and it should update your Touch. :)

Secondly don't be surprised if it looks like the Update is stalled and not doing anything it will probably take 5-8 minutes, it appears the Update is backing up your iPod which even on a USB 2.0 connection can feel agonizingly slow.

is the firmware for ipod touch out in the UK yet?

im stuck at work and with no access at the moment.
