I really wish I would have waited a month before getting my iPod Touch to get the 32GB model...oh well guess I'll just have to wait and hope a 64GB version is announced in SEPT/OCT.

well going on what previous people having been saying in this thread about time zones technically the proper update should widely available in little under half an hour. (8am cali time)

I'm 5% off finishingthis download apple's servers must be getting rammed. It has taken ages. I will be buying it of course when it is available on the store.

I just emailed Steve and stated my extreme dissatisfaction with Apple over the past few days. I said that Apple needs to get its ass in gear if it wants to keep its customers. I also said that their is absolutely no reason that I should have been without webmail for over a day, and that there is no reason I should be clicking the update button in iTunes for two hours to update my iTouch which still isn't updated. I also Said th . at I hope that some heads in Cupertino are going to roll for the major inconveniences that have occurred over the past few days. I also said that I and all other iTouch owners are just as important as his precious iPhone customers, and that we shouldn't be inconvenienced just because we aren't paying $70+ per month, and that I would appreciate a response explaining how Apple plains on making this up to its customers.

We'll see if I get a response.

You won't if you stated it as well as you did here.

Something is seriously up

I just connected my touch, opened up itunes, and got a message that iPhone activations are unavailable at this time - try again later. Are we getting an over the web hardware update with this one, or what? This whole thing does remind one of dealing with microsoft updates. Apple's obviously getting too big - break them up now!

Why get so angry man. It's just an update. Think about if apple was gonna loose all of its customers over this apparent 'shoddyness' of release that has happened today, don't you think microsoft would have gone bankrupt by now.

iPod touch software update available soon

Posted Jul 11th 2008 10:15AM by Robert Palmer
Filed under: iPod Family, Software Update

Apple is close to releasing its $9.99 iPhone 2.0 Software Update for iPod touch (sheesh) to bring it up to speed with the iPhone and App Store. As we mentioned yesterday, the update will also include Mail, Stocks, Maps, Weather and Notes.

The update is linked from Apple's website since about 4:30 this morning (ET), but clicking the link just opens iTunes with an error saying iTunes could not complete your request, and that the iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. The errors are possibly related to the fact that the iTunes activation server is currently down.

In theory, you should be able to buy the update from Apple's website, or by clicking "Check for Update" in iTunes with your iPod touch connected to your computer.

Apple is charging for the update because of an accounting requirement: since the revenue generated from the iPod isn't considered a subscription (like an iPhone, with its two-year contract), Apple must charge a fee. The amount of the fee, however, is entirely up to Apple.

itunes is fluxuating between showing the update but getting an error, to 1.1.4 being the latest.

pretty frustrating, but i have work to do - keeps me from checking every 2 seconds.

everyone with their fingers on the update button should probably chill out, mow the lawn, and try again later.

it's just an ipod.

Heh, you think they don't get typical mail like that EVERYDAY? You'll probably get some automated response.

What the hell?

An accounting requirement? All the more reason to screw them over, surely.

Awesome just downloaded 20 apps from app store and installed it on my ipod touch 2.0!!!! YEAHHHHH Baby...

I realize that **** happens, but this has been the most botched release of anything computer related that I have ever experienced, I was ticked about Mobile Me, Now I'm I'm pissed, because of this on top of Mobile Me.

Sigh... the first time I fired up iTunes, it said the update was there. Clicked on Update but it says iTunes store was down (even though browsing the store was fine).

Waited 5 minutes, clicked Update again, and now it says 1.1.4 is the current version.

Going to be a long day for Apple...

Apple probably forgot to pay AOL their $23.95 for dial up and that is probably what the big issue is here! Damn TIME WARNER!
