iPod Touch 2.0 Firmware Update (Almost) Live

Well after spending 12 hours on this thread and downloading the 2.0 firmware from the sneaky link then trying to downgrade back 1.1.4 so I can legitimately pay for it when 2.0 is officially released and failing miserably only to keep the 2.0 firmware on my touch I am now defeated and going to bed on july 12th 0:35 UK time. have fun all you more hardcore than me that will click the update button for the next 12 hours till i resurface and try again.

I wonder if there are a lot of people walking the halls at Apple with stress lines on their forehead right now.

ill just wait a few days when the servers cool down and everything is straigtened out, i dont need the update that bad, but i wouldnt mind having it now, i can live without it, can you pay for it with a giftcard instead of credit card?
 
OK, I have to say it...

I checked this thread this morning and was able to get the update but did not have time to install it until this afternoon. The update worked fine and there were no problems with Youtube. It does work. My iPod was hacked so all my apps. springboard, etc. are gone but that was expected.

Now, after seen this ridiculous thread I have one comment:

People, get a life.

If you have problems with Mobile Me, then you can complain
If you have a bricked iPhone 1st Gen then you can complain
If you have a bricked iPhone 3G then you can complain

Other than that, it is 'RIDICULOUS' to be posting here with such anger and demanding 'Your' software from Apple.

There, I said it.
 
Apple really needs to rethink the server situation for next year's iPhone announcement.

Last year they announced the iPhone, and at time of launch it was available in 1 country.

This year it's available at launch in 20. That's alot more bandwidth at one time than it was last year.


Oh well, its a kink in the road. You've already waited one month+, just wait a couple more hours. ;)

How did u get it to finally work? Did u just keep clicking UPDATE and then it let you download it?
 
The rest of the iTunes store is working fine, even the apps downloading. So it's not a server overload. It's only the iTouch firmware link that's not working, so why would that be?

Nope, it seems to be working just fine as far as I can tell from this discussion thread. :rolleyes:
 
For those of you who have gotten your iPod Touch to run the OFFICIAL firware 2.0, how did u get it to do it?
did you just sit there and keep clicking update?
 
I wonder how many days its been since Steve Jobs got any sleep or went home. His wife must be furious. :mad:

Downloaded the Bad Way

Run Itunes, then held down sh ift and clicked update, then picked the image I just downloaded

then waited and it worked :)

I never had the google maps or mail stuff now its all on :) so i'm buzzing.
