I was hoping that the ipod would not have a camera. Some peoples jobs don't allow them to have cameras,(don't ask were i work cause i cant tell you) and i like to take my ipod everywhere i go ,seriously, everywhere. I dont really se the advantage of it have a camera. It may be a 3 or 5 Megpix, sure it will have a fair resolution, but super small CCDs preform like ***** unless the lighting conditions are just right. All i really want out of it is the retina and the A4 and i am praying, but prob wont see it, 128 gb. People need to remember that is main purpose is to listen to music. I only use it to play game and music.

I could also live without any cameras. That being said it seems it will have a front facing at least to allow Facetime.I'm really hoping for Retina,A4,gyro and more RAM.Better audio woudn't hurt either.

The ipod should be interesting in terms of design. I wonder if the next ipod will have the front transition from glass directly to the back similar to how the imac is.

I was told by my supplier that he was told that the new ipod touch will contain two cameras . I am waiting on other news , however does look like facetime will be implemented somehow .

Can you reveal the supplier's name? Last year, there were literally dozens of articles all with "sources close to apple" saying there would be a camera in the ipod touch. Apparently all of those "sources" were wrong. I'm just hoping for stronger evidence than a 'friend of a friend said this'.

You need the camera to use many apps, so that is why people want it, and to take those in the moment pictures. Right now the app store is pretty divided and I suspect apple doesn't really want it to be that way.

The problem is all the people I know have the 2nd Gen 8GB touch and they probably aren't upgrading because most of those are kids and now they have cell phones paid for by their parents which have camera's, facebook integration, unlimited texting and more. Since they have a cell phone now they are no longer interested in the touch. I know lots of adults with the 8GB touch too that aren't interested in upgrading.

This means less people to facetime with, at least for me, since everyone I know has already bought the iPod touch and probably won't be buying it again. They didn't want to wait like I choose to.

Last year we were promised a camera 99.9% however there was no camera, so if apple puts a front and rear camera I will just consider that they are making up for what we didn't get last year.

If what you're saying is right, then Apple has to do much more than the double-camera ordeal, FaceTime, Retina, A4, microphone, and Gyroscope to wow the customers. I know for a fact though I'll most likely be getting this 4th gen iPod touch, and I had the previous touch already... plus I'm an adult, so Apple still has that sort of a market audience to release this product for. You're right about this need though.

They can't just make an iP4 imitation because it may not sell as much, so they're going to have to have some special/unique features that the iPhone doesn't have, so as to give the product's customers a need/desire to buy.

I wouldn't need anything unique over the iPhone. The touch is still great for people who do not want an iPhone (or ATT), do not want to pay for data services for a smartphone etc. I have an Android on Verizon but would love to have an iPod Touch even with similar features of the iPhone4g or less. My adult friends do not have data plans on their wireless service but have an iPod Touch to use for those apps and things. I think the new iPod touch will sell very well even if it does not have anything special over the 4G.

After briefly owning and using an iPhone 4, the things I definitely want to see are...

The A4 CPU: I don't think I'll be able to deal with anything slower than that after having worked with it for a bit, and I don't see a reason why Apple wouldn't put on in to the new touches.

Front and Rear Cam: The reason the front cam makes sense, is, as we've all said, Apple wants Facetime to spread beyond the iPhone 4. That's the point. Where better to implement the next phase than the iPod touch. Rear camera, you can't make as good an argument for, expect to say that "even the Nano has a camera". In that sense it doesn't makes sense for Apple's flagship iPod to NOT have something the little mini cheap iPod has.

Retina Display: Apple could easily not do this, but I think Mr. Jobs was pushing the Retina display as being the "new standard" that not only other companies will want to replicate and keep up with, but that they'll also want to implement on their own devices. This like FaceTime I think is something Apple wants to get out there. The more Retina's there are out there, and more people see them, the more Apple stuff they want to buy. Just doesn't make sense to put an inferior display on the new Touch when they've already shouted to the rooftops how awesome their new display technology is.

Integrated Mic: This seems like a simple request, though they could easily just keep making Touch users use the headphones with mic for these features. But it makes sense that if FaceTime/Front Cam is implemented into the new Touch, an integrated mic should go along with it.

Hopefully all 4 of these things happen. About a month to go till we all find out.

There was supposed to be. It was pulled at the last second. There is space in the logic board for one.

Technically, we aren't 100% sure of that. That is still technically a speculation (the assumption that the camera was pulled at the last second). There is a small space in there, but Jobs also said that putting a camera (of good quality and not the nano camera) was impossible. Maybe they really wanted to, but they could never find a good enough camera to put in the space. Hopefully this time around a camera (maybe two :)) will go in it.

Anyways I don't make up the stuff I tell on this site , the picture was in fact suppose to be the real deal , we will see . I also get news about two cameras , we will see ... After all I heard from macrumors that apple pushed up their conference about ipod , so we will all know shortly lol =D

Don't get me wrong, I'm not accusing you of lying or anything ;). I've grown skeptical over time since there have been hoaxes in the past and will eventually come again in the future.

I suppose the Wow factor is in the games and apps, which most messenging cell phones do not have. Even if they have games and apps, there is no way that support is anywhere near as good as the app store is. Which is why I am hesitant to buy a competitor for the touch, the other companies promise support but don't really deliver (look at the Zune HD, which was supposed to get an Apple style App store with tons of apps). At that point you are plunking down $200-300 for a device that probably won't take off. Heck even sony has awful support for the PSP but it does have a sizeable games library at least.

Keep in mind this is only in my family, first the kids got the Nintendo DS, then abandoned it for the iPod touch, then they abandoned the touch for the cell phones that they get when they reach 12 or 13 years old. Most still use their touch's for apps and games though, but they aren't interested in getting a new one. I am simply citing an example of what kids do these days, though I suspect its not only my family that is going through this. Its interesting nonetheless.

The DS is gonna have a hard time surviving though, because pretty much everyone over 7 years old is just going straight for the touch now, especially if mom or dad hands down their old iPhone or old touch for them to use as a gaming machine.

Nintendo doesn't refresh their products as constant as Apple does. I mean even though there's multiple version of the DS, it's still the same DS OS since 2004. Apple, however has the iOS to update every year.

And the thing with the DS is that its solely a Gaming machine. Sure it may have the ability to surf the internet, and play music, but it's to only appease the DS owners who want the features that the PSP and the iPod are receiving. The iPod touch on the other hand, is a true multimedia machine, with the App store to reinforce. It's a hard to compare the two, when the operations for the two devices are different.

With that said, the Nintendo DS is basically on its last run, before the Nintendo 3DS takes over. A lot of kids these days go for the newest thing, and with the reception from E3, I think the 3DS can hold its ground against the iPod touch.

Still...

I know this is a rumor site and not a place where every question gets wrapped up CSI style, but I like to try. The gizmodo iphone was evidence I liked.

Even with the iPhone leak , people still didn't believe it until it was announced .

I have really the next best thing which was the front assembly picture . Here's a fact , it takes a lot of money to mass produce these things and they have been mass produced already So im pretty sure that will be the front of the ipod . How for sure am I ? well lets just say every picture I have gotten early has been exact to the product that has came out , same with the iPhone 4 . So you can bet that will be the front ( with a %99 chance ) . Now if it does have all the features like two cameras and facetime and retina display , thats the real speculation .
