Haha. Thank you. This is exactly why I do not understand why anyone would want their favorite company of any product to take down all others and be the last one standing. If that ever happens, you are the one who loses because companies who have no one to compete against get stale fast and the consumer is stuck with a once-favorite product that has stopped technologically advancing due to having no competition. You sound intelligent beyond your years. Home school has been very good to you apparently. :)

Because Sony do not innovate any more.

But it doesn't matter if Sony will be in the handheld gaming market in 10 years time or not, because there will always be another innovative startup that will be the next Apple or Google.

I completely forgot about customs.... yeah, it should be a while before our pages update. I feel better now that there's a good reason :) I was worried I was going to look like an idiot for being wrong about Flight 28.

i found 2 more flights that have have left/going to leave for memphis from Anchorage that are being operated by Fedex, what could this mean?

One of those scheduled is Flight 28, which could be the same airplane they came from China on. It's a possibility that our iPods will reach Memphis tomorrow morning, meaning they'll have the day to be sorted/distributed to the local centers. It's entirely possible we'll get our iPods before the weekend (but I'm just being optimistic here). The only thing that ruins my theory is that my FedEx tracking page still hasn't said my shipment is in the US....

Sony, or any company, not innovating anymore is YOUR opinion. Just like a good percentage of people have the opinion that Apple does not innovate anymore. Whether any of these companies are innovating anymore or not should not be anyone else's concern. No one is forcing anyone to purchase any product so it does not matter. People are free to purchase what they want from whatever company they want to buy from. The idea that one company should take down others is ridiculous and not the way a free world should work. Companies not innovating is far less of a concern than consumers not having enough choices when it comes to purchasing products. The important thing is that it does not matter whether a product is unpopular or flying off the shelves, whether a product seems ancient or future-proof; whatever the case may be... The CHOICE should always be there.

I was definitely not hating on home school. I actually think it could be the best option if practical for those involved and done correctly. I'm in the Education field myself and if I were to ever get married and have kids; I would want to have the option of home-schooling them. Most students learn much more that way. :)

This is exactly right. The key words, however, are "done correctly". There are some unfortunate cases where parents will bring their kids home to do school, and in reality they are just letting their kids slack off and faking the high school transcripts. Those parents are doing their children an incredible disservice. Home education can be fantastic for both the parent and the student, but it must be done correctly in order to achieve that.

i think it will be updated once it is at the hub in memphis; I believe this because memphis is their main place for sorting; anchorage was for customs....

I'd like to think that's the case. The only thing that makes me doubt this is that when I tracked my iPad 2 through FedEx I did get an update when it arrived in Anchorage. Oh well, look on the bright side: both FDX 94 and FDX 28 are in the air and en route to Memphis :) If your iPod is on one of those planes, you can consider it a real possibility that it will arrive by the end of this week.

Sadly, kids that are home schooled and crippled socially which is a real shame. I myself prefer the public system and would hate to be alone at home with my parents or someone else teaching me. :/

Thanks for calling me socially crippled, I really appreciate that :p That's just a stereotype. Like all stereotypes, there are cases where it's true and cases where it isn't. You could ask any one of my friends (or even my long-time girlfriend!) if I was "socially crippled", and they would say no. I'm actually very outgoing and love talking to people. Also, once you get into the late years of education, it's almost entirely self-driven. I haven't sat down for class with my mom in years. If you prefer the public system, that's great. However, there's no need to bash homeschooling and those that choose to do it.

That's what I get when I don't read the rest of the forum! I thought you were being sarcastic -- my sarcasm meter is broken :/

My bad!

[facepalm] Thanks for the vote of confidence in my social skills, buddy. [/facepalm]

It's cool, if you look at FDX28’s history, it's always China-Alaska-Tennessee. Every. Single. Day.

Thanks for saying that, so I wouldn't have to. I hate when I tell people I'm homeschooled and they are just stunned that a homeschooled student can actually function in society.

Smiley face always:)

Feel bad for those pilots....

On the subject of those planes though, both are quickly on their way to Memphis. Flight 94 is slightly ahead of Flight 28, but both should arrive around midnight. Package sorting is done overnight :) This means that, ideally, things should be leaving Memphis tomorrow morning. I bet FedEx told us we'd get our stuff on the 15th just to give themselves some room for error. I would not be at all surprised if my iPod arrives on Friday, or maybe even Thursday.

I often get the same reaction. People don't usually know how to respond to "I'm homeschooled", especially coming from someone like me. I have a pretty loud and outgoing personality.

Never forget the smiley face :)

It's kinda funny watching the flight tracker. Either cargo pilots usually speed, or they know what they've got in the cargo hold and have been told to hurry things up. The flight tracker gives the planned speed and altitude of the aircraft as well as the actual speed and altitude of the aircraft. Currently, FDX94 is going 91 knots faster and flying 2000 feet higher than planned, presumably in an attempt to shave time off of the trip. It works, too. Earlier today, Flight 28 landed in Alaska a bit ahead of schedule. Thanks, FedEx, for working hard to get us our iPods faster! :)

Went to the apple store in Sydney today to check if the new iPods are out and I saw one of the employees holding a product red 5th gen touch and I believe it is one of those devices for checkouts when a customer buys a product.

i don't think its because of the contents that they speed; most pilots, even commercial ones who carry passengers try to go as fast as possible in order to be as efficient as possible, because their pay depends on the number of flights they have to go through per day...if they get delayed, they try to make it up in the air...

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I don't really know all the ins and outs of the commercial aviation industry.

An update on those two FedEx flights: looks like FDX94 is about 10 minutes out from Memphis. FDX28 is about an hour out. Hopefully some order status updates happen tonight/early tomorrow morning :)

IPOD TOUCH 5TH GEN RELEASE DATE FOR AUSTRALIA.

Called apple in Sydney and the guy on the phone said both ipods will be available in store as of tomorrow 11 Oct 2012.

Exciting stuff. Will be buying two ipod touches 5th gen and a 7th gen nano.:)

I'm still really jealous of everyone getting it ahead of the preorders. I wish they did it like many other companies where they ship early to try and get the orders around the release date. But I guess finding it in the US right now seems pretty scarce..

Mine's traveling very slowly. It's still in China. :( Moved from Kunchan to Shangahi.
