MIne's in the same shipment, but now it's showing that it cleared customs in Shanghai and the estimated delivery is now Oct 12th by 10:30 am. WHOO HOO!!!! :)

Oh, I didn't look at that part!! Mine says that too! Okay, I feel better now :) that's great that it's arriving in the morning too, it means I'll be around to get it before I go to work at 3 :)

I didn't even notice that the delivery date had changed! Mine's the 12th now too. :D

Perhaps we don't want to get into this flight tracking mess again, but FedEx doesn't have any flights scheduled out of Shanghai today. Or at least if they do, they haven't filed a flight plan yet. The shipment has to go out today though if we're gonna get them Friday morning, right? The only way that could work is if the iPods hit the States today...

No, mine was ordered a little later on the 20th, I knew I should have just went for it on the 14th. I had to wait until my eBay sale for my Galaxy 5.0 cleared before making the purchase.

I'm going to bug the Apple Store in the next few days and if they have one, I'm driving down there.
 
Remember, when all of you get yours in 2 days, please share lot's of pictures and impressions.

As a favor, can someone please please try out Infinity Blade II on the new iPod Touch and provide impressions? I could never get the game to work on my 4G so never really got to play it. I'm assuming it will work fine, but I'm hoping the details as well as a good framerate are there as well.

I'll see what I can do! :) It runs very well on my iPad 2, which AFAIK the iPod touch will be slightly less powerful (My iPad gets a GeekBench of 700ish), so it should work well.

Definitely will be doing that. One of those advantages of homeschooling is that whole flexibility thing; right now I'm scrambling like crazy to get the week's work done so I don't have any school to do on Friday. That'll leave me most of the late morning/early afternoon to get some pictures done and impressions written up. You can expect impressions and full reviews coming from me (not that anyone necessarily cares about my opinion now, but I'm going to college to be a professional writer so I figure I might as well get some practice). I also intend to test Apple's claims that the EarPods rival significantly more expensive 'buds by comparing them to my Sennheiser CX 475 in-ears. They certainly aren't Sennheiser's most expensive pair of in-ears (I think they cost 60 or 70 bucks), but Apple made a lofty claim and I'm going to put it to the test :)
 
I've heard some rumors that a select few Apple Stores have started having them on display and showing them out which might mean those Apple Stores have began selling them, I haven't been to my local Apple stores so I don't know. Hopefully though, the release date is Friday cause I want my hands on one so badly!

Called the 3 in my area again (Dallas Metro area) and none have theirs in yet... Still won't tell me a date and say that they are due "sometime in October".

I'll be at the mall tonight, so I'll check out our local Apple Store then. I'm surprised they won't tell you a date. The shipping estimates more or less give it away. It's got to be sometime around this weekend, right? I would be shocked if the first preorders arrived a very long time before the units showed up in stores.

I'm guessing Friday in store, tomorrow if I'm extremely lucky. I'm going to call again this afternoon just in case they got a shipment in, which I highly doubt.

This will be interesting, I'm starting to second guess my initial color choice as well! I have the silver/white preordered, but I'm starting to like the slate/black model now.

I ordered the Black & Slate one, and judging by the videos CNET has posted it looks amazing. However, White & Silver is a very, very close second in my opinion. That is a tough one... I'll be sticking with what I ordered, but I can see your predicament. Both are gorgeous! (I myself am not a fan of the colored models, save perhaps the red one. That may change once I see them in person, however)
 
I think the apple stores are holding them until some internal secret date

I have been really anxious to get one of the new nanos after losing my previous one.

I have been checking regularly at the two apple stores me (one by home, one by work) and getting the stock "october" answer.

Yesterday I happened to be there when FED EX had just dropped off. I'd swear on a box a bibles that a least one of the boxes had nanos (i saw the blue metal one). However the store continued to say nope, "october"

I just got a black one 32gig at the mall in Murray, UT!!! YAY! I will post pictures soon!

I've been enjoying your posts about home schooling and its benefits. My wife and I have been home schooling our two girls for about 5 years and see many parallels to what you've related (they originally went to a private school, are getting a better education now, plenty of socializing opportunities, oldest is now a sophomore and works independently, also wants to be a writer, will be taking dual-credit courses next year, etc.) Glad to see another successful home schooler standing out in the crowd!

Even if the stores have them, they won't be allowed to tell you. Employees are almost certainly instructed to wait until they go on sale. Apple may not even tell the employees so that they can't answer when asked. I'd bet they go on sale Friday though.
