I ordered right after ordering the iPhone @ ~3:30am ET.

Ah, okay. Could be a little bit before mine switches status then. I elected to sleep in since I didn't expect there to be as high of a demand on the iPod touches as there would be on the iPhones.
 
Just checked my bank's site. There's a pending transaction for the touch.

That's progress! Really hoping they ship out in the next few days and my local Apple reseller gets them asap. But I'll survive on unboxing and review videos on Youtube ;)
 
its definetly this wednesday folks! mine's just went to preparing for shipment as well! let's do this!

Very cool, congrats to all of you! What day did preorders start on these, was it the 12th or 14th? I ordered on the 20th and no status change yet.

At least things are now moving along! I hope my local Apple reseller also gets the first shipments... I'm gonna chat with an Apple Specialist now and see if they have any further details...

I'm as excited as you guys are and I haven't even pre-ordered and I live in NZ so who knows how long I will have to wait!

Hey, guesses are welcome. Wild speculation is fun, is it not? :) I'd say you're probably right though, within the week seems like a very reasonable timeframe. I'm assuming it'll ship out tomorrow. I hope it does...
 
My order for the non-engraved PRODUCT (RED) 32GB is now in the "Preparing For Shipment" stage. I received a confirmation email when I ordered the iPod Touch on September 14 at 12:28 AM EST.

Yes, I agree. At least it isn't "Late October" anymore. Been hearing that everywhere for the past few weeks.
And seems ALL the first preorders are changing to "Preparing for shipment"!
