I believe the Japanese stores had them in "limited supply" so I don't know if you'll find too many resellers. Then again, who knows what their definition of "limited" is. If it's anything like Apple's definition of "coming soon" or "October", I think it's safe to say that it is a very vague term. :)

well, I asked employee at Frisbee (Korea apple premium reseller). there is no official apple retail store yet. so it is the primary store. anyway, one of guys said that he had no idea when it will be available. it should be the end of this week or next week (safely said). I guess that it will be someday next week.

My 64gb touch has shipped from Kunchan CN. Expected delivery date is 10/15. FedEx is the carrier.

Thought it would arrive this week. :(

Shipped.

Mine is shipped as well (IPT 32GB blue, engraving, 9/14 ordered). Shipped from KunShan, China via Fedex and delivery date is 10/15.

Engadget is reporting that it is in stores today (I'm not sure if I am allowed to post the link here).

Took a chance and drove up to the Apple store near me before my morning meetings and they did not have any new iPod Touch's in stock yet. :(

There was a small line of people out front, but they were there for iPhone 5's.

The sales person said that they hadn't received them yet, but maybe later today. I'll give them a call later to see.

I'm going to head over to my local Apple store either late this afternoon or possibly after dinner; I'll post the results of my trek here. It seems odd to me that they would show up in Japanese stores before they show up anywhere else. US stores should get them the same day, right?

something is happening in europe, germany, finally: details were added to status, saying it is prepared to ship oct 12th and expected oct 15th :) :)

but status still says processing ?!

white/silver, 32 gig, no engr

I wonder if it's just because Japan is so much closer so if they were all sent out at the same time, they would show up at different times.

I'm calling back in a bit, can't hurt.

While I don't mind waiting until the 15th to receive the iPod Touch, I'll be greatly disappointed if they make it available to purchase in-store before the 15th (in the US). Although I'm not familiar with the release schedules for the previous iPod Touches, I hope it follows the same suit as the 3rd Generation iPad which was delivered to people on the same day that the device was released in stores (for people who preordered it when the preorder links first came out). What's the point of preordering if it's going to be delivered after it's already available in stores (that is, if it really comes out in stores today as Engadget reported) especially if they've been able to make sure that other devices were delivered on the same date as the release date in the past?

I agree completely. If I preorder, I want it on the day it comes out in stores or even a little bit before that. Monday seems like a weird day for Apple to put a new product on their store shelves though. I assumed it would hit shelves this Friday, which would mean the preorders are arriving after the actual release. Then again, my shipping estimates have been wrong before. It may get to you before the 15th, you never know :)

Ipad mini

Wonder if Apple are deliberately delaying the Ipod 5 until after the rumoured Ipad mini announcement. I would suspect that there will be a lot of cross-over interest.

finally :)

October 12th delivers 18 Oct, 2012

but my order is still processing, but at least i know a date

As a favor, for those with status changes or shipping dates, can you also post your pre-order purchase date? It'll help with trying to figure out when some of the other people's might ship.

Thanks!

Sure! I pre-ordered on the morning of September 14th, and mine shipped on the 9th of October. It is scheduled to arrive on Monday, October 15th by 4:30 pm Central time :)

I won't be happy either. Why pre-order if you get the device days after it's available for sale?

My iPad came on the release date & I expected the iPod to as well. Of course, the iPod has no official release date. Still expected day one delivery, though.

In the scheme of things, it's minor. But, it'd cause me to think twice before pre-ordering from Apple again.

Mine shipped early this morning (just scanned for export from Shanghai), and though Apple's delivery estimate is the 16th, UPS says it should arrive this Friday, the 12th.

I'm in Canada, and ordered the black 64GB at about 3:30am ET on September 14th.

Nope.

Because Apple is making a statement that they are releasing the IPT5 in the home territory of Nintendo and Sony first. iPT5 is going to seriously hurt PS VITA. :D

Just an update to all those who had US orders, I've been tracking the FedEx flight that I think the shipment of iPods is on. Early this morning I hit up FlightAware, and found the only plane that FedEx had in the air between China and Alaska. It took off from one of the two airports that is close to Kunshan (which is where it sounds like most people's orders shipped from), and is set to land in Anchorage in just under 3 hours from now. Of course, there's no way to know for certain that this is our plane, but it's still the only flight that FedEx has between China and Anchorage, and there are Anchorage to Memphis flights scheduled that line up with the arrival time of the flight I've been tracking (for those who don't know, Memphis is FedEx's big hub in the US). So, with any luck, our iPods are on FedEx flight 28 and should land in Alaska in a little less than a few hours :) Was this amount of research and tracking obsessive on my part? Sure. But is it fun? Hell yes!
