I have a 64GB iPhone 5, and it's full...

The reasons for this are:

• Apps are becoming huge, to play the top games, you have to sacrifice huge amounts of space
• I like to have my whole iTunes Music library on my phone, I have iTunes Match for the iPad, but like the convenience of the whole library on my phone, no worries with signal, searching and buffering.
• Movies, I like to take a lot of HD video of my young lad, so wouldn’t like to keep messing around and deleting them off my phone
• TV Shows, I like to have a few TV shows to watch when I’m out and about or waiting for the missus.
• Emails, I want the last 2000 emails I was sent, just sitting there in case I want to search them for something.

It’s all down to what you need, but if Apple want to increase/maintain our consumption of iTunes Movies/Apps/Music/Books – I would suggest they make the 32GB as standard and give us heavy GB users a 128GB iPhone

The one reason why I have stopped buying things from iTunes is because my 512GB hard drive on the rMBP is now full up, So until I figure out a way to create more space... My iTunes purchases have stopped.

This, when my baby born, i think i'm gonna upgrade to 32 or 64 GB on the next iPhone and buy some mophie cases. But until that time comes, 16 GB is enough for me since i don't game on the phone. Wish me all the best please ! :D

I think on these days, 16gb is not fairly enough. hihihi. How much more if you like to play so many games :D

Well the iPad 128`s just came out so maybe the phone will get some of that lovely storage too?

Watch this space ;)

Cheers,

not a chance!

I have an iPhone 4 that needs "decluttering" often to stay under and I try to have at least 5gb free for any crazy downloads or photo opportunities.

in Photos alone I cannot even use iCloud for backups. I shoot a lot (both phone and DSLRs)

forgot to mention, only a small sampling of my music collection is on the phone (2000+ of a large library...too large for iTunes Match)

People with full 64g iPhones and its still not enough are just like the people I know with 3 car garages and so much junk in it they don't have enough room to put any of their cars in it. You can fill up any size phone if you really want to. I just don't see the point in using a phone as a storage devise when there are hard drives out there much cheaper.

I see your point for music, video and games. But i think it's different for people who take photo or video alot. It's nice to browse photo or video you took on the go or being able show them to another without the need to carry a laptop and external hard drives around.

Not really, has you seen the sizes of games now a day? Gameloft regularly releases games over 1.5 GB. With the introduction of PS2, XBOX(original) and PC games the sizes are only going to get bigger. Apps plus caches are going to take up to 600MB especially ones that have lot of pics (aka Flipboard). Also that "other" taking up lots of space.

Does anyone here really feel like a 16GB iphone is enough for them? I consider myself a power user and find myself coming nowhere close to filling all 16 gigs. (sort of just thinking out loud here)

16Gb was okay maybe 2 years ago, but... I think Apple should really set 32GB for the entry 199 Models anymore. I usually have 1 or 2Gbs free. Need more.

iPhone/iPad Storage Size

My iPhone 4 then my iPhone 4s were both 16gb, at first this was fine but then I got more games and more music (I generally don't put video on my phone I have an iPad for that) but when I got my iPhone 5 I got a 32GB. When I get the next iPhone (the iPhone 5S?) I would really like 64GB (for the odd film and/or TV show)but I just can't justify the expense.
Originally our (my wife & I) first Apple products were the iPad 1. I got us both 64GB (wifi only) but she only ever used about 8GB tops. I bought myself an iPad 3rd Generation 64Gb so that I could put movies and/or TV shows on it to take on holiday or watch in bed etc. But when I got my wife the iPad 4th Generation I just bought her the 16GB version which is quite enough for her.
She has my old iPhone every time that I get a new one.

16 is plenty for me. I just don't have much music, and I don't store any videos. I do have hundreds of pictures on my phone, but they upload to dropbox anyway so I really don't need to store those locally either.

Why is this even debated? It will depend on the individuals needs. It's ok for some and not for others. That's why some will buy 16 and others will opt for more. It's not like 16 is the cap.

The 32gb seems like a bit of a rip off to me (all companies do this). For 100 dollars more you only get 16 extra gb, that's $6.25 per extra gb.

With the 64gb you pay 200 dollars more and get 48 extra gb, that's $4.16 per extra gb.

The iPad 128gb is even more obvious. For 300 more you get an extra 112gb, that's $2.67 per extra gb.

That's what I'm thinking. 16 is enough for me. I use only a handful of apps, and I have no media except photos on my iPhone.

If I played games and watched movies though, I'd definitely want more than 16 GB.

The article said the amount of storage upgrade you get is not worth the extra $100-$200. Anyway this is just my opinion so don't get all fired up if you don't agree.

Lol because Apple ridiculously overcharges for storage on the iPhone... whereas other makers allow you to insert your own external storage. And with that being said, my iPhone's 16GB has 2GB of space left. Definitely not enough for me.

Exactly. I'm not sure what people are thinking or how they use their phones, but even a minimal user with apps (averaging ~250MB-1GB these days) pictures (~3-5MB per) and a few videos (700MB - 1.5GB) and going to fill up the phone pretty quickly and that's without any music or additional content. "I just have too much free space on my device" said no one. Ever.

which apps? last I checked, probably most are less than 20 mb, unless you're thinking of games.

I've managed with 16gb okay... 6gb of pics/video (I have a daughter), and then various utility apps. I recently downloaded star walk, and that's 50mb, despite loads of info. (I also don't bother to put music on my phone). and with the higher resolution camera coming soon, that will eat even more storage.

what concerns me more than flash storage amount is the amount of data many of these apps are downloading/uploading. play scramble with friends, and you can kiss your data plan goodbye. soon, data needs to become cheaper to account for the 'connectedness' many of the hyper-visual apps require (read, Facebook).

I'll echo a sentiment often found in the mba forum: if 16(or 32) isn't enough, then surely you're going to need more than double that amount.

Basically it's a phone. I have 16 gb iP 5 and it works... I have 200 photos, 3 gb music and the apps I need.... I don't like playing big games on it, maybe this is why I don't need further space....

Depending on your lifestyle really if you not a music person and not a video person but you want a good phone then 16Gb would be perfect someone like me it would be a waste of time because i have lots of music and apps so 16Gb soon goes quick.

Only the person lifestyle can answer these questions

Well, for me personally, 16gb isn't enough. I got the 32gb iPhone 5 because I like to put a lot of movies to watch while at work.

I have 1.8 GB left in my 16 GB iPhone and I can't imagine adding any more apps or content. Thats with 1.5 GB of music, 7 shows, 1 movie, and 133 apps.

Beats carrying your iPhone and a wireless-enabled HDD enclosure i.e. Patriot Gauntlet so you can have everything with you, and a large battery pack to keep both going after their internal batteries are exhausted.

Until symmetrical internet connections are commonplace, cloud anything is a waste of time, plus there is not enough cellular data cap to make on-the-go high-quality streaming worthwhile.

My phone has 2900+ music, 1400+ pics, and ~80 videos. Not including porn and anything I no longer listen/watch, and I don't like playing games as much as I used to a year ago. Currently sitting at ~6GB free... out of 64.

I have 18GB in movies alone. No. Not. Enough.

That's all? :D

I'm actually very comfortable with 8gb on my Nexus 4. If I need to travel with lots of content I have my iPod Touch and iPad. Plus there's a 16gb iPhone 5 here I could use if I reaaaaaally wanted to.
