I am always excited to see what apple have produced. They make some truly well engineered technology though i think the part and product leaks for the "iP5" are actually leaks of the new iPtouch which is why we aren't seeing NFC leaks or anything that's groundbreaking in the news. Eyes free was a big feature so perhaps non contact gesture control is on the cards or glasses free 3D?

The headphone placement is a dead giveaway on the iPtouch argument but anyway. Yes and yes. My wife has 3GS and she will get the upgrade on release day. I am happy with 4S on ios5.x and very keen to dabble with whatever iOS 6 has in store for me.

I do hope they incorporate features like the jb app intelliscreen x into the final build of the ios6 notification centre (native message replies, post status etc, read emails). Apple owe a lot to the dev teams and jailbreak community for pushing development forward, and the notification centre needs to be more centric to the function of the OS, and in my opinion it would be nice to be able to do basics such as message, call and do basic replies without having to navigate away from the notification centre.

Fingers crossed for ios6

This is too reminiscent of when Apple was, in the eyes of the average consumer, caught up by Microsoft with the release of Windows 95 and 98. These were clearly inferior products, but for most people, Windows was a close enough facsimile and cost much less so that it quickly eclipsed the Mac hardware and software. The iPhone and the iOS have been clearly superior to Android in the past, but they have roughly caught up, and with the SGIII, Samsung has eclipsed Apple in releasing the most forward-looking smart phone on the market (this is said with the caveat that the iPhone 5 actually resembles the leaked photos and videos).

I fear history will repeat itself, and the iOS will become a niche market for those who prefer the Apple ecosystem while Android or Windows 8 takes the majority of the market share. I've been around long enough to see this happen once; it will be too painful if I am forced to watch it happen again.

I think apple are in a more dynamic market than personal computing circa '95. They are well aware of the potential for a shift in the market and spend a truckload of money working out what their customers want.

I think the next model will be a pleasant suprise

I'm genuinely concerned that the size of the battery isn't going to be enough to keep it going all day for me.

Perhaps solar powered will be an option one day. I know it's far fetched, but one can dream.

I remember one on my first cell phones. It was a Nokia (aka brick) and the battery lasted a week or so. I think a lot of people had this phone. If I were lost out in the middle of no where, I'd rather have the Nokia......

Nokia

Left to right, 2nd one.....

The 3GS will be discontinued. The 4 as well.
The 4S will be replaced by the 4SL, that's the model we all know now. Will be sold middle-priced, with full iOS 6 support and new connector.
Nobody has yet seen the 5

well :D just trying to have some excitement for the last 3 next days

"Yes, you've all seen it all over the internet ... *laugh in the crowd*
This is our new iPhone: a gorgeous larger 16:9 retina 4" display, our great 8MP camera, great battery life, Siri, Maps,
bla bla.
$99 (subsidized)
boom

oh, we've got one more thing :D
*Spotlight on a shelf all dressed in black*
This
is the iPhone 5
*showing at the attendees*
pretty cool, hmm?!
We spent last 2 years in R&D for an even better iPhone, the best we'll have ever shipped.
A whole new light field camera, improved battery life with our new A6 chip, [...].
And it's available ... now.
boom"

yeah ... Jobs isn't anymore. There won't be any "one more thing" anymore.

You know.... I can't believe it but I'm actually starting to have second thoughts about the next iPhone. I'm going to wait and see if I like what I hear in the keynote because I've looked at the GS3 and it's got some pretty stinkin nifty features. But I'm not a fan of Android. It's better than it used to be, but I just don't like the fit and finish of it. iOS is just so refined and works so well........ *sigh*

I'm really hoping there are a bunch of features we know nothing about that will really make this thing stand out.

Only about the thought that there might be a 0.01% chance that the leaked iPhone is fake and they'll surprise us all.

I guess Apple could have some wild new feature but I'm not expecting anything that great.

Hell ****ing yeah I'm excited! :D

My first iPhone was the iPhone 4, which I've been using since last year. Upgrading to this one is going to be huge for me. I can't wait. I'm legit prepared for anything that could go wrong on pre-order night.

I will get my pre-order in, whether Apple likes it or not. :)

This is going to be the biggest selling phone in history

Justin Bieber outsells tons of other "artists". Doesnt mean hes the best or even close to the best. You get excited about a product based on how well you think it will sell? Perfect customer for Apple I suppose...

Considering disappointment with iPhone 4S and iOS 6...yes because hopefully Apple is saving the best for last and no because most people probably have too high expectations for it.

Yes I am excited, I am excited to get a new phone and even if all the rumors are true and I already know everything about this phone before it releases it is still pretty exciting.

Yes, I'm excited to pick up a new iPhone. I'm upgrading from the 4 and my 24 month contract has ended. I've followed all of the rumours and leaks this year and the phone is shaping up to be a pretty solid piece of technology.

I think a lot of people blow out their expectations when looking at new releases from Apple or other companies. Immersing yourself in all the rumours and explicitly comparing brands, whether it is Apple and Samsung, iOS vs Android and so on, I think overinflates a lot of expectations. Maybe a sense of the 'grass being greener' is in play to.

I prefer to evaluate a product on its own merits and focus on the ways it operates and the ways it can meet my requirements in day-to-day operation. For me, the iPhone has met all of my needs for a smart phone.

I'm more excited to see what it actually looks like lol. I'll be upgrading from my slowly dying iPhone 4

I am..excited..yes. But not as much as I was last year..or even this year with the iPad..
Plus the fact that the leaks have practically revealed the whole thing for days now even though Tim said they're doubling down on security..(We would see atleast ONE different design if it wasn't the new iPhone.) So..yea..

On the order hand, the Macbook Pro with Retina was an amazing reveal.

I can't wait for Wednesday. I'm getting the new one either way so I am just hoping for awesome stuff to drop our way!

Mixed feelings.

Meh, not excited much,

I'm interested in the camera and that's pretty much it.

I am, I've had my iPhone 4 for 2 years now and it's starting to get a bit slow on me so I'll just be happy with increased performance!

The big difference between then and now is the ecosystem, popularity and application availability/productivity.

Apple did not have those advantages over Windows back then, they were higher quality but niche.

Now they have all those advantages AND they are still higher quality.

To beat Apple now is going to take an effort of incredible proportions.

Im not really excited here but looking forward to the event and early hands-on :) hoping for a secret function :p i doubt il get rid of my 4s these year anyway but who knows if theres something special they make for the bigger screen i might grab one at the end of the year or early next year.

Lets hope for something good !
