First, I think iOS 6 is going to have some big changes.. I believe thats why they haven't released a beta in over a month... Think about it.. All the other next generation iPhone updates had 6-7-8-9 betas.. But this beta is only 4??? And the last beta was over a month ago? I believe they are implementing some features that they don't want even developers to know about yet.. Because we all know once a beta is released. plists are searched. Everything.. For the smallest clue.. And they don't want us to know yet..

Secondly, This is a huge iPhone update regardless if the rumors are true or not.. Last year when the 4s was released. We had all these rumors and pics of what the next iphone was going to be. To the point where case manufactures believed that it was legit and began making cases for it as well. Whose to say that all these pictures we are seeing are indeed fake.. Or the new iPhone 4s for the lower end devices.. Look at it this way. If apple is changing the charging port on the new iPad mini and iPhone. And they are going to rerelease the new iPad with the updated charging port.. Are they going to leave the iphone 4s and 4 with the same old charging port??? Exspecially if they are about to update the iPods as well... No.. They are going to have all their products that they are currently selling use the new charging port..

And if the current pictures and rumors are true.. this is still the biggest update the iphone has ever received... Bigger screen, new charging port, new airplay, LTE, redesigned app store, photo stream share, siri updated, better camera, facebook and twitter sync, do not disturb mode, new maps and more... what more would u want?

While the Iphone5 will be 'unique', its still not something that is extreme.
Many people that will be buyers will be upgrading and for those that are new to Apple they have all seen a smartphone before.
So while we're waiting, its not like we plan on seeing something thats completely new its an improvement.
In any case it certainly will be better than the previous Iphones. Its going to have more capabilities thanks to iOS6. And most likely a few features we don't know about.

No not excited if it looks like what the leak looks like. I want a true 4" + screen, not a longer screen. I want a completely new look and feel to the phone, but it looks like it will not be happening.

What does this have to do with being excited about the next phone?

Certainly Apple makes about the best quality phone out there, but also, years ago, the Ford Torus was the best selling car in America. That doesn't mean it's the best of what's available.

Again, what does this have to do with anything? Why do you, personally, care how much Apple sells? This isn't a question about Apple stock.

To the OP's question: I was really excited about the prospects of the new iPhone 4, until we actually saw what it turned out to be. Quite a let down, so I kept my aging 3GS. Was excited about the prospects of the 4S (unrealistically, as it turned out) and it was quite a dud as far as I was concerned so I skipped that one too.

Broke down and bought a used 4 to hold me over and it's been doing just fine. I would enjoy a faster phone with better camera, but a larger screen is also a requirement and that, Apple just isn't delivering on with the stretched thing.

iOS6 looks like a snoozer as well, so I'm not excited at all. Mildly interested might fit because it would be an improvement over what I have now. But then, so would about every other phone on the market.

Sounds like you would prefer a galaxy nexus or lumia 920, both great phones...

I'm exited for the new iPhone because I love iOS and my 4 is getting slow, plus I love playing with new gadgets.

My wife is although she is moving from htc wildfire!

I am excited to see what comes, although don't expect too much improvement on my 4s

If all the rumors are true, no. Just make it taller won't do it. Just look silly and won't work well. A real 4.3 would make me buy it. Give us something fresh.

What's the rumors on the iPhone 5 camera? I haven't seen too many. Is it supposed to be the same as the 4S? Or is it changing? I would assume the optics would advance, but again, haven't heard much.

Explain how Apple wil shift, say 25 million units a quarter without excitement.

You don't get that many people to buy a product without high enthusiasm.
So, are you excited about the new phone, or excited because Apple will shift 25 million units?

$5 bucks says that the taller iPhone that's being leaked to date is fake leaks, and that Apple blows the crap out of the market with a phone that is better than anything on the market for years to come.

I'll take you up on that bet. Care to double it?

Uh, no. You can't get an iMessage on your Mac if someone sends it to your PHONE number.

Why would you assume they are using his "PHONE" number?

I BELIEVE the rumor is improved sensor (8MP but improved light sensitivity?) and optics with f/2.2 aperture.

Don't hold me to any of this, read it a while back.

Both. High public support ensures iOS will still have the best selection of apps, support and accessories which in turn ensures the iPhone 5 will offer the best user experience long after it is purchased.

As a person that will have the iPhone 5 on day one most likely, this is important to me.

If the rumors about the A5 are true... I'm kinda disappointed more than excited. A dual core A15 (aka an Apple a6) would be the perfect replacement for my aging iPhone 4, but if they really re-use the A5, the new iPhone's hardware will be pretty lackluster.

Hell, the Qualcomm's S4 from early this year already outclasses the A5 CPU, and the GPU is about to catch up. I want a new iPhone, but I'm not buying one that's already outclassed by other phones...

I've had every model of the iPhone so far, but I'm determined that I'm going to skip the iPhone 5:
I'm not interested in a bigger screen (in fact, it's more of a negative than a positive to me if the phone size increases), and I'm completely happy with my phone as it is now - the camera is great for what it is (i.e. a cellphone camera), it runs iOS 6 smoothly, battery life is great, as an O2 customer it's going to be ages before 4G is available, and I can't think of a single feature I see on any other phone and think "I wish my phone had that"

I'm sure I'll tempted when it's announced, just like I was with the new iPad, but I managed to resist that one and stay with my iPad 2 so I'm confident I can resist the next iPhone and see what the 5s brings :)

i got a 4s last year. as someone who gives a **** about the environment and horrific labor practices in the countries where rare compounds are mined to make techno-gadgets, i prefer not to get in a tizzy fetishizing a new telephone computer gizmo. hoping this one will last me another 2, maybe 3 years.

I also try not to bury my stupid face in it on the bus every day and I still talk to my friends and i don't text at the dinner table.

I have to agree with a lot of other posts on here. With the leaks so far, there's nothing that's really screaming at me as a must have. The iPhone 4 was awesome when it came out, however maybe that was just the combination of iOS features and the hardware (incredible graphics, retina display, beautiful design, multitasking, great camera/video camera), iOS 6 didn't really blow me away feature wise and it doesn't seem like iPhone 5 is gonna be crazy either. That combination hurts. I don't know about you guys but I think if anything Apple again needs to go back to simplifying iOS. I rarely pay attention to notifications since they just get plugged up faster then junk mail on a hotmail account. Tons of red notification numbers from apps that will never be opened. Also rethink folders, folders are great but I often forget where I even put apps. I think their simplification could come from Siri, imagine if Siri was so reliable and smart that you never had to look at your phone, you would just trust that it did what you told it to do.

Anyways here's hoping that Apple has a few cards up it's sleeves. I wouldn't give up on Apple but both iOS and OS X seem to be slowing down in innovation. However maybe this is all part of a bigger roadmap that involves iCloud.

Nope, to many leaks. Besides, I won't be upgrading the the iPhone 5 anyways. I have the iPhone 4 and it's a perfect phone for me right now. I'll upgrade to the 5s when it comes out because that's when my contract ends (damn you Canadian cellular companies and three year contracts!)

On another note I think it'd be wise to change your upgrade schedule now. For example I'm part of the hardware design upgrade cycle (I picked up the iPhone 4, and now i'm upgrading to the 5) The best upgrade is by far the second hardware release (iPhone 4s, to iPhone 5s). I do plan to do the upgrade to 5 but i'll probably get 5s when it comes out and continue with the 6s. The second hardware release is always a refinement of the first.

Not all all. Seeing that Apple had over 2+ years to redesign the iPhone....they failed miserably by only increasing the size of the screen and adding LTE

What is there to redesign? Do you want it to come with rocket boosters on the back or something? I fail to see what people want in a redesign. The current design is the best and highest quality of all smartphones available with glass and metal. What more could you want?

I'm very excited. It's a better version of what has already become my third hand.

WP8? Wake me up when there's ANY medical apps for it (which I need for work), and Android, just a total mess of an ecosystem right now and still laggy even WITH Jelly Bean! (I own a nexus 7)

I'm super stoked for the new iPhone. Reliable, good software, well designed and built hardware, and best in class Apple support and cloud services. I can't ask for more.

I am simply because it will be my first iPhone (i own iPads and iPods).

I am currently nursing an old LG keyboard slider dumb phone that barely holds a charge and has buttons that hardly work.

So yeah, can't wait for the new iPhone.
