Just reserved mine using the Apple Store App!!! Took about 2 minutes, incredible how much easier that was.

Just one thing, in my confirmation email it said my price is $699. I'm elegible for my upgrade so why would it say this? Does it say this for everyone?

Wooohoooo i'm SO pumped!

I am also stoked about using the apple store app! I wasn't planning on going to the store, but it looks like it's the easiest way to do it.

I am eligible for upgrade also and got a receipt for $699. I would be much more concerned about this had I given them credit card info. However, I am sure that this will be ironed out in the store at 7:00 am June 24th.

reservations

last year when the 3G came out, I was so paranoid about that fine print at the bottom of the email stating a reservation through Apple does not guarantee an actual phone, I reservedit through AT&T online and had it delivered directly to a store. The problem with that was they charged me the entire amount up front at time of order. It seems the fine print is just a protection measure and Apple will have your phone as they did with Ipad, waiting in the stores

The "beyond pissed" stage is where you stop giving a flip and decide to move on with the rest of your day. That is where I am. I'm soooo sick of entering in my personal data over and over and over and over again only to time out at the last or near the last stage. This is really a pathetic showing for Apple. I hope this day doesn't go down and the day Apple got to big for it's own good.

You have A LOT more patience than I do. I gave up after only a couple of hours, and ended up driving to my local Best Buy store. I'm 3rd to get the Black 32GB.

I thought I'd give it a try and see if anything changed while I was out at Best Buy. (I was in and out in 10 minutes.) Of course, ATT is STILL crashed...and, of course, the Apple site sits in an endless processing loop until it times me out.

Unbelievable.

I got the same thing on my receipt.....But I'm wondering if I'll actually have a phone when I get there or not? was that a legit reservation?? With all the issues on the system right now......I don't have high hopes its for real. To note, before I got the submit success....It had my upgrade of 299 price in it....it's just the receipt that had 699 on the reservation conf email.

that better count as a legit reservation. I'm going to print out the confirmation email and bring it in with me and i'll be PISSED if I end up not getting one after all this crap with the pre-ordering.

I got all the way through to the confirmation screen at AT&T. Couldn't believe it, was so ecstatic. Then...hit confirm....TIMEOUT! Arrrghhh!

Unbelievable. After trying 20x to order this thing I finally got past the point of "Replace Existing Phone" ... all of my AT&T plan information populated just fine...but then clicked to the next screen and was told no-go.

More egg on AT&T's face. An old company with old technology trying to paper over that fact by selling the iPhone. You can't put lipstick on a pig.

I finally got through on the AT&T website, so you might want to pop on over there. I couldn't get past the processing info screen on Apple's site. Maybe I got lucky, but both sites seemed like they became slightly  more responsive in the last 30 minutes or so.

Based on the way Apple and ATT have been behaving today, I wouldn't trust the app...but that's just me.

I have an existing iphone account since the first one came out with the original unlimited data. I am upgrading through apple.com and finally got through the wall but now its asking me to select a data plan?!

Is anyone else getting this?

I've had an iPhone since the first gen. as well and I haven't been asked to pick a new data plan. (although I've only gotten past the second wheel of doom twice without getting past confirming my phone price).

SUCCESS!!

After trying for 6 hours, at 1:34 PM EST I finally managed to get one pre-ordered.

Good luck everyone.

Finally got mine ordered through the AT&T online store. Only took a couple hours... Gave me something to do while waiting for my 3g microcell to configure itself...

I really hope they get it to me on the 24th...

No free shipping??

Did they do away with free shipping? I have been able to get through many times on apple.com and the iphone app, but never had the option of having it mailed to my house.

On the app, the main screen says "Reserve your IPhone 4. Pick it up at your favorite Apple store."

There's a note in the app and on the screen that says you weren't actually able to get through the AT&T eligibility check. The option to reserve is a consolation prize.

Agreed. I'm giving up and will try tomorrow. They need to get their act together.

Anyone able to get through the system to ship to your house pre order? On the app as well as apple.com website it just takes me directly to 'make a reservation' for instore pickup. Really want to avoid going to the store and just have it mailed!

I haven't read the whole thread, but after hours of trying i got a tip to pre-order through the new Apple iphone app and it worked the 1st time, give it a shot!

Looks like the blame game is being played, the woman I'm speaking to on the phone at Apple blames AT&T for this mess.

Both sides should be responsible for not being prepared.

Okay, I got an order to go through via the iPhone application. Note that it didn't seem like it went through, but I received an email confirmation saying my iPhone would be ready for pickup on the 24th at 7:00 AM.

I'd much rather have it shipped to me, so I'm wondering if I can still try to place an order online, and then just not show up to the Apple store. Would there be any penalty if I didn't show, or would the phone I reserved just be released after a day?
