Jikes what did you do to that phone. I have the blue one and so far I haven’t noticed a single scratch
I beg to differCaseless is the way to go. You’ve got the steel. It will not deform when you drop it vs the aluminum. Go for it. AppleCare or equivalent insurance if you want peace of mind.
I got the silicone case with the 12Pro as well, do not like the weight increase or the closed bottom. Caseless and my phone is decent. The sides are scratched up but that’s because I don’t baby it. Phone looks too good to put in a case.
Why use 1 incident over scuffs. This was me to a "T"....I never used a case, so when i went from a Ip7 to a IP12Pro the size difference caused me to drop it on tile from "chest high".
dinged up the SS side a bit and freaked the F out!!!
$100 Apple care incident and round #2 with a new phone...yeah, I use a case now![]()
That is correct, but I am not distressed with the scratches, and if I feel the need to start over I have apple care. You have the silver color, you can easily polish the stainless steel to remove most of the small scratches.
I believe all other colors have a PVD coating which aids in scratch resistance.Jikes what did you do to that phone. I have the blue one and so far I haven’t noticed a single scratch
That’s a new one to me, could be the paint or a harder material than steel that got hit. Can’t escape physics.I beg to differ
I understand your perspective, hear me out though.I absolutely couldn't handle my phone looking like that. I only have an SE, but I popped it into a case the moment I unboxed it.
I can't imagine having a €1300+ phone looking like that after just two months.
My 6 wasn’t so lucky
I don’t think that’s an example of most peoples iPhones. Certainly not most people here. That iPhone looks abused not used.I absolutely couldn't handle my phone looking like that. I only have an SE, but I popped it into a case the moment I unboxed it.

Oh c’mon 😂 the screen and back are perfI don’t think that’s an example of most peoples iPhones. Certainly not most people here. That iPhone looks abused not used.
The point is, i have a nice $1k phone (now $1100) i want to keep it that way. If it didn’t happen in the first 2 weeks of owning it I might have thought otherwise. Since it happend so early, i wanted to fix it.Why use 1 incident over scuffs.

Look at it this way
1 scratch = $100
50 scratches = $100
but you spent $100 + case money
What’s the point
Different strokes for different folksThe point is, i have a nice $1k phone (now $1100) i want to keep it that way. If it didn’t happen in the first 2 weeks of owning it I might have thought otherwise. Since it happend so early, i wanted to fix it.
Also you get 2 incidents a year, i highly doubt (knock on wood) that I will use another one again.
Great. I mean if your ok with it I don’t particular care, it doesn’t affect me, affect me, affect me.Oh c’mon 😂 the screen and back are perf
I had a 6+ before that and never caught Bendgate. But, and this is just me, whenever I sit down I don't like sitting on my phone. I always pull it out and set it next to me.My 6 wasn’t so lucky View attachment 1700061
Yes lmao on the mute rocker and volume buttonsAnyone noticing any discoloration/oxidization on the shiny parts of the phone?
I've had this problem with the latest models that have shiny sides. The fact that I was constantly using Apple's silicone case, helped to only have the issue on the bottom, where my pinky rests.
I'm thinking to go caseless, but I'm afraid the problem will appear all over the device![]()
I’d rather enjoy the phone I paid good money for than save it for the next person. No one has complained about scuffs when I’ve handed down my old phones 🙃Since my iPhone 4s I've always used a case. I can't remember dropping any of my phones so probably would never have broken one. But, for me, the function of the case is to keep the iPhone scratch and blemish free so that when I go to sell the iPhone and hopefully afford a new one, I always get top dollar.
That said, if you shop around carefully for cases, you'll find good light weight cases that have extra protection for the corners and emphasize design around the lenses and display to protect against damage. With my iPhone 12 Pro Max I'm using a minimalist ultra thin case by Caudabe (they call it a sheath). I went to my kitchen scale and weighed my iPhone (8 oz.) and case (0.97 oz.), yet the case feels tough and strong and has good texture (not slippery).
Hell no put a case on that phone ASAPHey guys,
Yesterday I received my new 12pro with apple silicone case.
(had an iphone 6 prior to that...)
I’m experiencing some difficulty:
1. the overall size of it is larger than the iphone 6 especially with the silicone case. I have small hands, and I’ve noticed that it is hard for me to type with one hand now. Which bothers me.
2. The increased weight also is noticeable for me (and my wrist).
My question:
Since I’ve noticed that without the case, it is much easier for me to type with one hand and the weight is oddly much less of an issue.
i’m wondering if it’s a bad idea to just not use a case? Without it i feel much more comfortable (and natural) to use the phone. The other option is to replace to an iphone 12 mini.
What would you do?
Thx
You spend $20K+ on a car and drive it everywhere you need to regardless of normal weather conditions, not to mention road debris and other accidentals from you was the other and others you know and some you don’t. And with all that, you don’t attempt to drive your car wrapped in bubble wrap as it if were supposed to be a four-wheeled condom.
And here we are talking about a disposable device that typically cost less than $1k for most people, and many can’t fathom not treating their phone as if it were priceless and supposed to be wrapped in a specially made phone condom.
