I think it's unlikely they won't be able to sell in the US at all, the issue is having to charge a much higher price. It'll be annoying for them if they have to, but it'll be equally bad for all their competitors, and I'm pretty sure they'll have a lot of buyers in the rest of the world (I literally just preordered a Switch 2 myself).
The Switch 2 will be a flop in the US if pricing ends up close to the current PS5 Pro price of $699. You’ll be getting a portable device with the performance of a PS4 Pro at the launch price of a PS5 Pro! Nintendo shifted some Switch production from China to Vietnam so maybe all Switch 2 consoles destined for the US could come from there. I think Vietnam would be more inclined to make a deal than China which could significantly expand production in the country and add more jobs. I know HP also shifted a good amount of laptop manufacturing to Vietnam this year in anticipation of previously proposed tariffs on China.

I hope I can get a Switch 2 this year at the already high enough price of $450 or $500 (Mario Kart World bundle). If not, there’s a possibility I may go to Germany later this year so I may have to go to a Media Markt or Saturn there.

lol no. Apple isn’t going to do jack about iPhone pricing because consumers are already backing off on luxury purchases even before the word “tariff” was ever uttered.
Cook is a dial tone but he’s not stupid. If he touches the pricing he will see profits fall off a cliff.
No logic. Even if Trump wants Apple to make iPhones in the US there are still tariffs on all the materials needed to build that phone + the higher salaries in the US would mean an iPhone would cost like $5000. Apple would probably assemble it with robots anyway so no jobs would be created either.

Good point! Higher American wages + tariffs those countries are imposing on U.S. products will make Apple products even more expensive. Maybe as a result big tech will become much smaller in size and focus more on local consumers. Unless Apple decides to build factories in every continent.

What’s happening with tariffs is kinda educational, in the past I didn’t care if the product I’m buying is American or Canadian but now I’m paying more attention. It’s an opportunity to support local businesses.

Ehhhh. I think it’s a good time to keep your device for as long as possible actually. Smartphones have peaked for a few years now with the most minor of upgrades. If i had a 3 year old phone right now, I probably wouldn’t notice much difference

Is the tax on the MSRP or the cost of production? Because iPhones aren't $1000 devices, they're probably closer to $300 devices plus markup for R&D and profit. That gives Apple a lot of wiggle room, depending on how they want to adjust the price to handle the tariff - e.g. a blanket price bump that effects each middle man vs a line item like sales tax.

bad logic. For starters, the PS5 won't be at $699 anymore.

I’m on a 13pro and not really needing a new iphone. Also not really eager to buy American stuff RN anyways 🤷‍♂️

Doesn't really matter where you live, you have taxes to deal with. It's just that right now, it's cool to hate Donald Trump so everything he does is treated as the worst thing to ever happen in the history of the world.
Because he has slapped additional tariff charges on top of every country now so if you do business in that country it’s now going to be dearer as a consequence

I can assure you from the UK that as a result of the last few months the US is fast becoming a pariah, viewed in the same way we see Russia. The fact that this won't bother you only amplifies your status.
exactly it’s not difficult to see what trump is trying to do with these tariffs
And prices on most goods will naturally increase as a consequence from iPhones to medications
How anyone can say this is fantastic is really silly

What about this? Create tariffs, tank the economy, sell exceptions for big money. When businesses go broke and sell cheap, buy them up then undo the tariffs = profit.
That is what I'm seeing... He may even set his sight on Bitcoin, tank the crypto, buy cheap and hoard... That greedy bastard...

We're so ****ed. As you said with the Switch, who knows what it'll end up costing with the new tariffs? It might actually be cheaper for my co-worker in Ireland to buy me something and bring it with him on a work trip rather than me buying something here in the US.
Last time I heard, US deported green card holders for no apparent reason. GREEN CARD HOLDERS. I bet your co-worker will have a very hard time coming to US for quite a while unless he holds a US passport.

Well, Everyone seemed so happy they were getting a "Business Friendly" Administration.

Guess they know better now.
Because he promised to make these companies more money
Hence the tariffs means price increases so then consumers pay more

I’ve always believed we should be making more products at home and charging more and people should be holding onto their devices for longer. I think it’s wasteful to get rid of expensive devices every 1-2 years.

I also think this because we shouldn’t be supporting the cheap labour in other countries out of principal. Although I know those people desperately rely on it.

It’s a tough one… also what’s weird is I’ve not seen any local companies coming out supporting the tariffs… I.e my steel sales or car sales have gone up now people are buying American etc

Time will tell I guess

Uh, yes.

Apple removed the power adapter and EarPods to save just a couple bucks.

Do you really think they're going to eat any part of the tariffs?
Yeah, spot-on.

Even tho I’m not in the US, I’m not sure how all of this will impact me. So instead of waiting even further for an M5 Mac mini, I’m finally pulling the trigger for an M4 Mac mini.

Not sure how this will impact Japanese products such as the PS5, or gaming monitors…
