Since installing 10.5.3, my iMac (original core duo version) will not shut down after running for the day.

I had the same thing. Would not shut down, and there was just an empty desktop screen without my drives and all, and an empty menu bar.
I ran Cocktail, repared permissions and cleared caches and it seems to have solved it.
No more shutting down problems :)

while there seems to be an improvement in "snappiness" and nothing seems broken, my fans now are driving me crazy!
safari ALONE never had my fans kick in, now it happens very often and they stay at high rpm (4500-6000) for a long time while the temps are as they were before the update (58-64°C).

i tried rebuilding the spotlight index, deleting all cache/temp files, repairing permissions (all via onyx), did an smc-reset, deleted nv/pram, deleted the file "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist"(which didn´t occur again...) and pulled out some of my hair - no success...

Works fine on my C2D Macbook & Alu iMac. I had some problems with 10.5.2 and my iMac regarding not waking after sleeping (about 2-3 times a week) but since the update it has not happened once. Also I only have to quit iTunes once now :D Yippee

I installed 10.5.3 the evening it came out and didn't notice anything bad. Until I went to use my Epson 1260 Photo scanner. The driver software available from the Epson website (version 2.77) has not been updated for at least a year, and it simply refuses to start under 10.5.3.

I think it was 10.5.1 where I was having Wifi issues. Everything was dandy when 10.5.2 rolled out, wireless issues were resolved for me. Now with .3, I have 1-2 drop outs a day and it drives me batty.

Macbook, 2.16 Core 2 Duo, 3GB RAM here.

Update! EpsonScan 2.77 is now working. Seems that I had Windows rinning an a virtual machine at the same time, and the scanner was connected to the virtual machine instead of to OS X. I'm glad to say that that was a false alarm. However, one would think that the software could tell the user that it can't find a USB scanner, rather than just gacking and falling over?

To put it mildly, 10.5.3 is a pain in the arse.

75% of the time when I wake my MBP it can not find any wireless network. will sit there searching for a few minutes. Best fix I've found when this happens is to turn airport of and back on, then takes just a few seconds to find my timecapsule.

Safari now has problms with secure connections (e-banking, it dosesnt show pictures - menus), search for WiFi is slooooow sometimes, VLC player crashes occasionally ...
So I voted No ...
