This thread kind of reminds me of: "Music dead after arrival of hair metal".

That's how old people feel. iPhone dead after arrival of iOS 7.

Only I read that the 7 series phones are selling better than the 6S series. At least at the time of publishing of the news story on internet websites...

5/5S/SE phones have that chamfered edge which isn't too nice on the thumb when swiping in from the sides. In that regard, at least I personally prefer the rounded glass edge of the 6 and onwards.
I didn't say that the iPhone 7 had less sales, I said the 6s had less flaws that turned people away. I know a lot of people bought it, but there was also a some people who didn't buy it due to the headphone jack removal.

What "flaws" are we talking about?

I miss the headphone jack like crazy, but my 7 Plus is quite nice otherwise and way better in my opinion than a 6-series iPhone.

Headphone jack is nothing to miss. Missing then let it be, just use wireless headphone or use the converter.

Really nothing better to do by complaining missing of it.

I'd love to see a 4.7" phone with the same body design as the 5/5S/SE. The 6, 6S, and 7 all feel too thin and slippery - I like the solidity of the 5/5S/SE. Obviously it's very unlikely to happen, but hey, that's what I'd like to see.

Wicked fast. Headphone jack. Solid form factor. It feels like the 6s is the last great iPhone...

Ip7 is a little cleaner, but the 3.5mm jack going was a big downer for me. And Apple could have made the ip7 water-resistant while keeping the jack.

6s/6s+ is the more classic design...can charge the phone and listen with wired ear/headphones w/o dongles, etc.

Only weakness with the 6s was the smaller battery. Stupid Apple.
A lot of the removal of the jack was to be able to seal it and add the haptic engine/remove the home button. That's the precursor to a bezel-less phone, being able to simulate a button without a button. The next step, which the touch bar on the macs is beginning to show, is encorporating Touch ID into a screen. Sequentially, this all makes sense, but individual progressions will upset some.

We had the haptic engine in the 6S and also a hardware home button and headphone jack. Samsung phones manage water resistance without removing the jack, and my Xperia XZ has a higher water resistance rating than the iPhone 7...whilst still retaining a headphone jack.

The hissing, not uniform screens, anodized part of the aluminum rubbing off, and the shutter bug where when you move the camera from a low light area to a well lit area and vice versa and it doesn't transition smoothly. I'm not saying the iPhone 7 is a worse phone, I would rather have one than my 6s, but I'm saying there was less coverage about the 6s being flawed than the 7 was.

My iphone 7 doesn't hiss, the screen is uniform, nothing rubs off of it, and I've never had issues with the camera. Undoubtedly that last issue is a software thing which can be fixed in an iOS update. In fact I'm wagering all of these are rare outlier cases, and you will probably find similar but different issues with previous phones as well. For example I remember people saying iphone 5S or whatever had poor quality home buttons that broke frequently. (Mine never did, maybe because I actually care about my things, but whatevs.)

I didn't say that the iPhone 7 had less sales, I said the 6s had less flaws that turned people away.
I know what you said. Even so, if it is true that iphone 7 sales are greater than 6S, then you don't really have a point, as people obviously aren't being turned away. If your point merely is that iphone 7 suffers from more issues I would say you're mired in confirmation bias, unless of course you can objectively show that the iphone 7 really does suffer from more issues than its predecessor.

Out of the tens of millions of iphone 7 sales, "some" people are reporting "some" issues.

Seems like a normal release as there are always issues being reported every release.

No regulat ear-pods. There are days I've left them home and I guess I was saying, no matter what phone you have, if you've forgotten your headphones...you are out of luck.
Lol, oh, that sailed right over my head somehow.

Except for the Samsung Active, which consumer reports found wasn't waterproof, with Samsung denying it, until they had to admit there was a manufacturing flaw.

As for the Xperia XZ having a higher water resistance rating, check out this link below. No company, imo, wants to argue with the customer about why the water sensors were tripped on their water resistant phones, which is why Samsung S7 and iphone 7 are, again imo, not warranted for water damage.

The Xperia still has an IP68 rating with headphone jack compared to the iPhone 7 with its IP67 rating without headphone jack.

Personally I wouldn't put any of them near a spot of water.:D

I'm sure your iPhone 7 doesn't have any issues and most people's iPhone 7's don't either but some did but I know some people that would've bought it if they didn't hear about some of the issues people were having so they went with either a 6s or a Galaxy S7. The reason the 7 has greater sales is because it is more different than the 6s than the 6s was from the 6 to the average consumer. Only people like us who look at the technical details were turned away.

Why do you miss the headphone jack so much? I don't .. apple supplied me with a tiny little adapter cable in the box with my phone so I can plug my own headphones into the lightning port.

Just like a bunch of things mentioned about the 6s line of phones by many people? Which is just like a bunch of complaints about this or that that some people have with any phone?

Because let's face it, adaptors and dongles are crap whether they do the job or not.
I guess different people worry and miss different things in life. To me a tiny adapter on the end of a long cable makes no difference, I certainly wouldn't say I miss the headphone socket like crazy. I might miss a family member or a close friend like crazy if they died though.
Cheers

I certainly value people in my life more than the convenience of a headphone jack, but I think adapters do make a difference.

It can be pretty annoying to forget that adapter. It's just one more thing that can go wrong.

A big part of Apple products philosophy has been making things simpler for the end user. Adapters go against that. Until quality wireless headphones are commonplace and affordable Apple has made iPhone 7 usability worse rather than better for its customers. However, I think wireless is ultimately the way to go. It's just too bad Apple messed up the timing a bit with AirPods, and is going to be late with BeatsX.

Well quite, but this is a first world problems expensive tech site.

Because I once didn't have to do it that way. And because the adapter doesn't make things easy if you use multiple pairs of headphones.

iPhone 7: even faster and same slim form factor but with new sleeker colours plus water resistance makes it the clear winner for me.

I do love the 4S though because it has a seriously sturdy build and it was the first display I had used with that kind of pixel density. Back in the 4S days, Apple was clearly on top of the smartphone game, while it's not that obvious anymore. Competition caught up with Apple, but that's to be expected!

I'm probably getting the next iPhone anyway or the one after that. Don't need to upgrade from my 6S+ until something comes out that I really want again.
I agree, I see no reason to dump my 6S+ just because a new "something" is now out. My 6S+does everything I want it to do and then some. I may have a speed test done on it and if needed replace the battery for $29.00.
