No, it's not the last great iphone.

However, it's good enough that I bought one 6 months ago for really very, very little money and it feels like modern performance. At that time I thought it was the best deal in the history of smartphones.

I still have mine. Mine is two years old this month. I have it jailbroken on 10.1.1 and the battery capacity is 93% with 203 cycles.

It's still fast but I'm not really using it as a phone much these days. I got a new battery put in my 6S+ early in November so I am using that along with the 7+ I bought last month.

Well, the SE went on sale after the 6s, haha. Also wicked fast, with headphone jack, but in a design that many consider to be iconic in a way that the 6/6s is not.
The se sucks imo. I had to use one for about 2 weeks while waiting for my x to come in the mail. I hated how small it was and the battery was **** on it.

The X is the last and best one yet. After that, the SE is king.

This is just one man’s opinion-I personally never could warm up to the iPhone 6-8 period...and I did have a few.

Actually, one of the strongest points about the iPhone SE is the battery life. So since you had poor battery life, then something was wrong with your iPhone SE or something was contributing to the battery drain, because the battery life on the SE is very strong.

My wife’s SE is dreadful for battery life and she’s constantly charging the thing in the middle of the day.

We know what the problem is, it’s iOS 11. Before the install, just like my 6S it had a stellar battery. Not sure what Apple are playing at to be honest, the fix still hasn’t been rolled out 3 months on!

You're probably right about iOS 11 being the main core issue with the battery life for the SE. When I did on the iPhone SE for six months, it was a great iPhone and the battery life was more than I could ask for, but that was also with iOS 10.

The phone is great, my wife loves it because it’s small. She’s hated the new bigger iPhones, to the point she’s had an iPhone 6S Plus unopened in her desk drawer for 2 years. She’s hoping Apple bring another out or she’ll be trying to keep this one going for a few years.

Battery life is a shocker recently though whereas it was better than a lot of the new models. It feels like Apple tailored iOS 11 for the iPhone 8 and X and screwed every other model. Just hoping they sort it out soon!

My iPhone 6S has been the best iPhone I’ve owned though. It’s been reliable, solid as I’ve dropped it god knows how many times and it’s survived. I got it as the iPhone 7 price shot up £200 last year and I didn’t see enough jump in features to buy it. I also fancied a couple more years with a headphone jack. The 6S has been brilliant and still is, despite battery life suffering under iOS 11.

I had 4 of them, brand new. They all did the same thing. Had to have them til my new phones came in the mail.

I got my son an SE for his birthday in late October. He immediately updated to what was the latest version of iOS 11 at the time (he has no interest at all in jailbreaking).

He reports no issues with his battery.

When I owned the iPhone SE, it was back with iOS 10. So I can't speak to any experiences with iOS 11 with the SE. But the battery life was almost as good as my iPhone Plus given my user settings and usage.

I still love the space gray 6s, but there will always be a special place in my heart for the 5s/SE space gray.

Agreed. For smart consumers iPhone 6S series is the sweet spot especially for $300 for the iPhone 6S Plus and you can get it carrier unlocked with one month of $55 service (popular on Slickdeals). The other models aren't worth triple or even double especially with downgrades with Face ID and removal of 3.5mm jack. Assuming Apple doesn't artificially gimp it with throttling, etc.

https://www.cricketwireless.com/cell-phones/smartphones/apple-iphone-6s-plus-32gb-space-gray.html

Having used it, Face ID is absolutely not a downgrade, and I cannot remember the last time I actually used a headphone jack on my 6s+ in the 2 years I owned it...

I love people who insist on calling these things downgrades - but hey one man’s trash is another man’s treasure I suppose. But I think it’s pretty idiotic, just as dumb as all the hand-wringing about Touch ID back in the day. It’s just flat out better for me using Face ID than Touch ID was - but it works for me, and I guess it isn’t as good for others. Best phone I’ve ever owned, and worth the money I paid for it.

I don’t even think about the headphone jack anymore with my iPhone 7. It’s gone, and the industry is envisaging a wireless future. They literally give you an adapter with the phone too.

As for the Taptic home button, I think it’s vastly superior to its mechanical predecessor. IMO, the 8 is the best iPhone.

In my opinion, no.

if you come to the conclusion that the 6s was the last great one, why would you not think the 7 was actually the best.
in terms of design and feel and materials, its identical. and the 7 does have better internal specs.

i would include the 8 as well, but the 8 is really a very different model than the 7.
in terms of materials used and internal specs.

so the 7 seems to be so similar to the 6s, yet better.

.

I don't think the iPhone 7 and 8 are 'very different.' The iPhone 8 and iPhone 7 are fairly similar, most consumers won't be able to differentiate the differences besides the wireless charging capability and glass backing. The iPhone 8 is mainly an incremental build off the iPhone 7 that encompasses the same ram, water resistance, but adds True tone as well.

If it had a headphone I would agree, but it’s missing that feature and a lot of people preferred the 6S because of that.

I guess the way I see it is the iPhone 7 offers nothing that I can’t find on the 8. In other words they really should have just discontinued the iPhone 7 as every feature it has is part of the iPhone 8 except colors and slightly lower price. 6s has the headphone jack which makes it worthy of keeping around. I can’t imagine the cost to manufacture the 7 and 8 being that different.

Did you actually read the link that you posted or or simply tried to interject your own falsehood? Apple never "Confirmed" anything that it's a downgrade, Nor would Apple directly admit Face ID is a downgrade even if others don't like it. They simply implemented Face ID differently than they did Touch ID for purchases.

Direct quote from article:

"These caveats have led some to speculate whether Apple is erring on the side of caution in choosing not to deploy Face ID for family purchase approval. "

The 6s is as good as the 7 or 8. In real life, and assuming it's not being throttled, you wont notice any difference at all in performance. The A9 still has a Geekbench single core score greater than the Snapdragon 845, Qualcomm's SOC for 2018. If you don't mind about water resistance or wireless charging (but get a headphone jack on the 6s) I see no point in upgrading, unless, of course, matters of shallowness and vanity or absolutely wanting the latest tech gadget.
