Had a white iPod touh and ipad2.
Couldn't stand the white staring at me.

Went back to black.
then agin there are a lot of people that like white.

I think it is mostly just personal prefence. But I think reading books and blogs is better on the white, and watching movies and TV shows is better with the black.

I got the White one, because the black is for girls.

If the iPad New bezels are like the iPad 2, then white bezels are matte while black bezels are glossy. Thus, the black bezels probably reflect more light (you can see your reflection in them--but not the whites).

Both colors are under glossy glass. The white is not more matte compared to the black.

The white one is best at showing dirt!

And the best at hiding fingerprints on the bezel.

I had a white iPad 2 but went black this time. I have to say, so far I think I prefer white when it comes to browsing the web. I'm not suffering from buyer's remorse or anything, change is good, but my experience flies in the face of accepted wisdom. A white bezel blends in more naturally when viewing this forum, for instance.

Bottom line, I'll live happily with black for this generation but will be returning to white next time.

I agree with you. Had a white iPad 2, went with black for a change. Other than movies, white is nicer for everything else. Last year I went with white to change from my original black though.

The next step hopefully is a edge to edge screen!

I think white looks really fresh, and suits the iPad better then iPhone.

Though, like others have said, white is fine for reading, but black is better for movies/photos. With that in mind, I could read happily with a black iPad, but I would get frustrated watching movies on a white iPad.

Sorry, but your thread title is an oxymoron. Colors are a matter of opinion. Always will be.

And "better" is a subjective term.

Had a white iPad 2 and went with white again. I just like whit on the iPad.

My iPhone is white too but I would go black if they offer both colors next time around. I think I'm ready to switch back there.

Uhm, it's under glass, so no it isn't.

I got the white one because you don't get noticeable fingerprints on the bezel and you don't get reflections on there when in a remotely well lit room.

Sorry but I do not agree. Two of my friends have white iPads and one even a white iPhone. They look nasty. Dirt or body oils in the sides where it is hard to clean. I am sure my black iPhone and iPads got a little dirt hiding somewhere but you can see it.

White does show this dirt where black hides it. As far as finger prints, no OCD here. I wipe my screen down with a microfiber cloth every once in a while and enjoy my device.

I've been buying black i devices ever since Apple gave me the option to do so. I don't care for the white model at all whether it's an iPod, iPhone or iPad.

Like everything else, personal choice is what it comes down to. I hate white cars too!

Each his/her own.

The other thing that bugged me about the iPad - I was looking at the white iPads at the apple store and I didn't like how the white on the screen didn't blend with the bezel. It almost felt like the bezel was slightly yellowing.
Maybe it's just because im too nitpicky but that was definitely going to bug me on a device I was dropping 800+ on

For the 1 and 2 I had black, this time I went with white. I thought about what I use it for most and went with the white version. Mostly I read and poke around on the net with it, and the white seemed best for that. The black looks best for videos and pictures for sure though.

I planned on black, but as I was on my way to get it, decided on white for some reason. I like it.

images and video look better with a black surround...

movie theaters would use white surrounds and most tv's would as well if it were optimal for viewing quality.

The white will fade and discolor over time. Besides, everyone and their mother has either a white iPhone or a white iPad. It's becoming highly overrated.
