take the computers screen off. then take out the battery. then take apart the unibody, that should save our like 4 pounds.

then take out a notebook and pencil and do all the algorithms that your heavy computer did for you in milliseconds. and then continue to think how silly this was. silly.

finally, put rebuild your mac and start using it again with the mindset that its not so heavy after all!

Wow, seriously?

You're all a bunch of jerks, you've listed all but the simplest solution...

Get the Lighter App from the App store, or if you want to go super
light, go with Crazy Lighter - Gold.

I got the Gold version, now I have to put bean bags on top of my MacBook pro to keep it from floating away. If I don't put the bean bags, I get woken in the middle of the night by my MacBook hitting me in the face repeatedly, kind of like a mosquito buzzing around - very annoying.

Hope this helps!

Hee!! I vote for this one!

well, you could take out the SuperDrive, the hard drive. then boot from an SD card... but its just useless when copying huge files

and you'll have a maximum storage of about 128gb(Lexar SDXC; just released this month) but with leopard, about 120gb

or HIT THE GYM

Yeah, its weird: My MPB got heavier too. Now I can't lift it anymore, but yesterday I could.

Remover the hard drive and superdrive.

Replace Hd with a SSD but without the metal cases. Just use the PC board.

On the Ram just use 1 4gb stick instead of 2gb sicks. Fill all air gaps with helium pouches. Peel the plastic wrapper off the Battery. Drill holes in everything that won't get ruined. Swiss cheese it! Or just buy an AIR you bonehead!

Is there a noticeable difference if one removes the internal battery? I suppose it is still possible to use the laptop with the external power supply only.

Pour Red Bull on it. Make sure it gets in there really well--pour it on the keyboard--or it won't be ingested properly. Within 4-6 hours it should sprout wings. Just let it hover and it'll self-support the weight.

How much weigh can be reduced if one removes the internal battery? I suppose it is still possible to use the laptop with the external power supply only.

Hit. The. Gym. You are not going to reduce weight by a great amount by removing the battery. Get rid of the optical drive instead. If you can't lift a measly 6pm laptop you have bigger concerns.

It will downclock the cpu, probably. using full cpu+gpu causes system to draw more power than AC adaptor can supply, so it needs battery.
