Dude, all I'm hoping for, being the hopeless romantic that I am, is that you go for it no matter what. I never thought I would meet anyone until I quit worrying about it and made a move on the right girl. 17.583 years and two kids later we're still going strong. If you feel this strongly about her, which I can tell you do, make a gentle move and things will fall into place.

Whooley, take it from me... I've been in your situation before (or one very similar) and I wimped out. Go for it. Life's too short and if you do nothing, you will regret it later on. I know I sure do.

whooleytoo — did you do it then? ;)

I bet if the wind was moving in the right direction, we could hear her blowing on his flute from here. teeheehee

:p

I hope she got her lips right, because if you get your lips wrong on a flute it doesn't work.

:p

Hey whooleytoo, if you still haven't given her the flute or whatever, then perhaps a stressed reduced, automatic approach might be better. Don't worry about how to bring up the topic, and what she'll say or whatever. Just take the flute, put a bow around it, and either get a card for it, or just use a post-it-note with her name on it. Then just leave it directly where you guys do lessons together. Like, leave it in the way so you can't do your lesson without her having to pick it up.

For a moment then I got Mouth mixed up with Sloth,

I just read it exactly in the same voice as when Mouth says to Brand when they're in the cave, and Brands about to taste Andy, and he says... "Go on Brand, slip her the tonnngggggguuuuuuuueeeeeeee" :p

Heheheheh. I have a massive urge to watch the Goonies now. :p

See... had you not moved to the land of tartan, then you could've been my design gimp, I mean assistant... and we could've watched The Goonies together, though only after you completed your first design assistant task of the day... e.g. getting the sticky buns in. :D

If being a design gimp means purchasing sticky buns and watching the Goonies, I'm right in there. :p

What can I say... I'm a hard task master. :D

As a girl, I say that if I was her and I fancied you, I'd really like you to say/do something. If I didn't fancy you, it would be awkward if you said something.

Helpful? :p

No, ok, but if I did like you, I'd be over the moon that you said something. If I didn't, yeah, it would be awkward for a bit, but I'd get over it soon enough if you weren't too freaked about it.

hey - why does it have to be the guys that ask the girls out?

Tried & tested; let them come to you. it worked for me (similarly vertabraically deficient) - i've been married three years now :D, been with her for 7 years and i'm only 22!

On second thoughts, if she doesn't...

... look, just show her how amazing you are, make it as obvious as poss you're crazy about her & then maybe you won't have to ask her out

See post #90...

Edit: For what it's worth, I don't believe in always waiting for someone to ask me out, and equally I don't believe in always being the one to ask them out in a tried & tested thing or a formula to follow. It depends on the situation and the person.

What to do...

I don't know if you have made your move yet mister, but I think you need to.

What NOT to do:

DONT kiss her
DONT touch her
DONT tell her you love her
DONT lick her
DONT nibble on her ear
DONT be sloppy

What TO do:

Find something you are both interested in (lets say Photography for example)
Open your mouth and suggest going somewhere together
Leave it like that for the day and see mull over with yourself how things went later,
If things went well, invite her out to do something else (another shared interest or even a drink at this point?)
Then you should drop into the conversation how you have feelings for her and ask her is she is interested in going on a few more dates.
See how it goes, let it take its course. You'll soon know if its meant to be.

Alternatively, just tell her how you feel after a lesson. But, DO NOT force yourself onto her in anyway (kiss, touch, lick). The people who suggest such things haven't got the slightest bit of respect for a woman.

Just give it a try...

You must be one of about five guys on the planet that that's worked for. Every other guy figured out that they won't come to him by about age 15.

Yes, again we bump to check on you. What's the latest?

Damn you! I saw this thread back at the top of the forum and thought we had a progress report! ;)

Besides being disrespectful, doing any of those things is setting yourself up for a harassment charge. Don't believe the fools who suggest such things!

I agree, go for it! The worst she can do is say no.
