This is starting to become a good game. I wonder if exec read these forums and just laugh....

I'll bet some of them do. I can tell you one thing for sure, if I was an Apple exec, I'd read these forums just for kicks and maybe occasionally throw in some misleading info just to watch the reactions

is there a reserved "corporate meeting..." at the moscone center? or are they holding this on campus this year?

I think we are assuming it's on campus this year since as of yet no one has found any Apple bookings at their usual event centres.

How? They have very few seats on campus. If they're unveiling new iPods and the iPhone 5, the will want way more seats available than the on campus theatre can provide.

Unless they are using a new event centre, their usual ones don't have bookings (that the public can see). Maybe they asked to keep the date hidden, idk. That's just my thought based on what we don't know.

Would Apple tell us?

Just curious... If Apple had no intentions of releasing another iPhone until next year sometime for whatever reason, do you think Apple would come out and say something to the public since there are just so many rumors, so much hype, and just about everyone thinks a launch is right around the corner. Or simply stay silent and just make us wait?

Simple Answer, No.

1. Apple never does that.

2. Doing that would literally cannibalize iPhone 4 and 3GS sales until who knows when next year and would literally kill a lot of their revenue.

I don't think so. I'm beginning to think a new iphone might not be coming out anytime soon. It's all been based on rumors and speculation. How do we know that the 4s/5 won't come out in December or June of next year?. If I don't hear anything before September 23rd, then for sure something isn't right. Nobody knows.

Haven't seen this much backpedaling and desperation since Harold Camping, good job. Also, why would any kind of announcement or invite be sent out on a Sunday?

Apple generally uses the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts for fall events. The campus events are for smaller based events, due to less seating available. With the iPhone 5 they will want as much press as possible there, so it will be at Yerba Buena most likely. There's only a handful of dates available though at Yerba Buena: September 21st, 26th, 27th, 28th, & October 3rd and 5th. http://www.ybca.org/calendar

I suppose they could use Moscone, I just don't see it happening.

I would be shocked if they don't release a new iPhone within the next month. If they do choose not to, they better release something new. I don't think it would be a smart move not to, and I think Apple agrees with me on this.

Say what you will about Apple, but I don't think anyone can accuse them of being a stupid company.

I think this year apple is focusing more on software than hardware. They could easily say that instead of a new iphone, we came up with ios5 and icloud. Don't forget that the iphone 4 is still the number one selling phone so apple might not feel rushed to come out with another one. I really hope I'm wrong as I am waiting for the new iphone bad.

I'm guessing Friday for the invite. Why? If you look at the latest IOS 5 rumor from BGR they say IOS 5 beta 8 will be available on Friday and the GM on the 23rd. Don't they usually have the GM available on the day of the event? Not sure because I'm not a developer but that's my guess.

pretty much what im thinking. maybe they are doing something different this year? have the beta 8 this friday, and the gm the following friday and than have the event the following wednesday with iOS 5 being released at the event?
