Is Your iPhone 6 Defective In Any Way?

Wow, after reading all of this, I can't believe someone would accuse me of being a baby (on another thread, https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1784043/) with my problems. My phone was basically non-functional, with flickering, lockups, areas of the screen completely missing in certain apps, and crashes. I was frustrated that I have to freeze $850 dollars from my checking account so that Apple can fix their problem. I only wish my problem was just a dead pixel.

These display problems are pathetic. Apple talks up their displays as if they are second to none.

Everything is perfect.....

Except when I try to enter a url in the address bar of Safari. It immediately causes Safari to crash and go away.

If I select a site from Favorites it browses to the site fine.

Went to the Apple store and they told me it was an OS problem and I needed to reload the OS from scratch. An hour & a half wasted there restoring and no help, so back to the Apple Store tomorrow.:(

I have had 2 iPhone 6 64GB in Space Grey - both with dead pixels like this one - and both in the bottom right of the screen.

I have it in the same location as well. iPhone 6 + 64GB in Space Grey week 37

people with bright pixels/screen spots what are the first couple of letters/numbers of your serial?

i.e. lets see if its factory related

The only issue I've found so far, and not sure if this is an iOS 8 issue or an iPhone 6+ issue. My iPhone doesn't seem to play nice with my Ford Sync. I don't have the Ford Touch, just the Ford Sync so that my phone's phonebook is downloaded in and I can make/receive calls.

So I tried it for the first time yesterday. I was able to successfully pair my device and download my phone book into the Ford Sync. I made a call and it worked fine. But when I hit the end button on the steering wheel, the phone still showed the call as going on. So then I tried making another call, this time from my iPhone. It shows the call as going through but I can't hear anything on my iPhone (because it should go through the car's speakers since they're paired and phone's Bluetooth is on) but it never came up through Ford Sync.

So then I tried removing and then re-pairing my phone and had the same issues. It seemed to work fine on the Gold Master on my iPhone 5 so not sure if it's an iOS 8 issue or a hardware issue.

Sleep button on my iPhone 6+ starting acting up and now only very rarely functions. Have appointment at Genius Bar tomorrow afternoon.

The bottom right of my iPhone 6 seems like it's not entirely flush with the aluminum casing, so it gives off a soft click occasionally when I press around that area.

It's not a huge deal...Given everything I'm seeing about these dead pixels, I'm really tempted to keep my phone that is otherwise perfect. I've got AppleCare, so I'll roll the dice I think.

Defect rate

I was appalled at the poll results. A 21% defect rate? Perhaps I should cancel my order and wait until Foxconn workers are under less pressure.

Question for the masses, when you press your volume and power buttons, is it stiff and really loud? The buttons on my 5S were smooth.

meh if you're fine combing, i anticipate a lot more than that are in the wild and have been with previous iterations as well.

QC will never go up, even way into its cycle. If anything, perhaps less as there's less mass coverage and scrutiny.

...imo,

Mine has a scratch, underneath the screen? Hard to see have to look for it but its there. Can't see by looking straight on but from the side.

Will keep it for awhile until it irritates me further. Plus better to wait until they work out all the kinks a few months.

Looks like the scratch is on the polarizer? Definitely not on top but underneath. I noticed it as soon as I opened the box.

mine has a couple of dark spots up top only slightly noticeable, looks like backlight issues.

First iPhone 6 128GB Gold I opened at the store had pretty clear spotlighting in the top edge. Like edge bleed of the backlight, little dark triangles about half a centimeter apart across the top. I'm an art director and insanely anal though, so I'm sure not everyone would notice/care.

The employee looked at some of the other display 6 models and they all had the issue, but fainter. We opened up a second 6 and it too had the problem, only slightly less. Shrugged and took it home, I've noticed it has diminished the more I've used it.

Luckily no dead pixels or dust issues. Went back to a different Apple Store today to exchange a case, and noticed the top edge very subtle dark issue on every demo phone.

The 6 Pluses I saw didn't seem to have any backlight issue.

It's so faint now I'm pretty sure it's in the "imagination" category that I will forget about it soon enough.

Yeah it does seem to be fading!!! besides this its perfect! except sometimes when i click the home button it wont turn on till i click it again , but thats happened to every iPhone i had

My backlight is also blotchy at the top of the screen. It's most noticeable on lighter colored backgrounds i.e. white. I have slight yellowing towards the bottom sides of the phone, which is more pronounced on the left side than white. I've played the screen game before though and most of the time folks say they don't notice anything when requesting an exchange...

my screen has a slight pink hue as well compared to the one my cousin got. has the backlight blotchiness gone away some for you?

My 6 is just fine, but my dad's 6 had a problem with the SIM tray. A Verizon rep had him put tape on the SIM card and re-insert it. Boom; worked. Will be calling Apple tomorrow to see about getting a SIM tray shipped.

Yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Other issue I had today was that the touch screen digitizer twice stopped responding, hours apart. I thought it might be the Apple Leather case I installed, maybe touching the edge, but I took the phone out and the digitizer was still 90% unresponsive (it might get one touch command every so often). Both times it happened when trying the new Rovio Clash of Clans clone, Plunder Pirates. That's the game that made all the other apps unresponsive.

Cured it both times by rebooting. Figure it's a software glitch. Or I should just get better taste in manipulative free to play games.
