I don’t know if someone already suggested it, but having some widgets (optional) would be awesome. But I understand iStat Menus is made for the menu bar.

By the way, @Bjango the app sets itself to start on the system boot right? I’d like to know if you use the Preferences -> Users and groups -> run at the boot up (pre-Ventura), Settings -> General - Login Items (post-Ventura) or rather through an option in the app’s preferences.

But not only that. Because I’m seeing more and more software just adds themselves to the boot up, and they don’t appear in the Settings -> Users and Groups / Login Items section, I’d like to know if there’s a reason why developers do this, and which is more efficient for the boot up of the Mac system.

I'm not the developer, but on macOS Sonoma, running iStat Menus 7, I see two entries for iStat Menus (one called iStat Menus, one called iStat Menus.app) in the "Allow in the Background" list in the System Settings > General > Login Items pane.

Hi @Bjango, I'm still having an issue viewing Time Machine drives anywhere in the app at all. And now I've found that my "Macintosh HD" drive doesn't show in the Drop Down menu, although the drive icon shows in the Menu Bar.

I'm also not sure if I'm up to date. It says v7.01 (2205), and shows no updates available. I've tried reinstalling and have reset Disk Filtering. And FWIW, this only happens with my M1 MBP, not my 2018 Intel Mac mini.
Build 2205 is currently the latest. We are working on some related issues, but please feel free to send logs with a small note about the issue via Diagnostics › Send Log Files, or get in contact and we’ll take a look: https://bjango.com/contact/

I really do love the look, though. I'm glad I took the time t break everything out into their own sections, too. I was showing the same info in the Menu Bar before, but had it all under a Combined Menu. Now I can show more info under each sections menu. :) I just wish the Time Machine drives would be listed, and not sure what's up with my own internal drive not showing...
Thanks! Hopefully it’s something we can resolve in the next update. We’re working hard on getting a few more fixes done, and then we’ll release it.

We’ve had widgets in the past. In fact, our company started in 2005 by making only Dashboard Widgets! iStat Menus also used to include a Today Widget.

The current flavour of Mac widgets don’t allow for realtime data for things that do not have a predictable future. Timers can work, but system stats can’t in an efficient way (or at all). If the situation changes, we’ll certainly consider widgets again.

iStat Menus appears in General › Login Items.

Redesign looks great though I would really like to have these snowflake-style graphs back in the iStat menu bar weather widgets on Mac. The view of the weather graph is more intuitive.

Huh, this is what System Settings > General > Login Items looks like for me:

🤷‍♂️ Starts for me just fine on reboot in any event....

Looks like the latest version, 7.01 (2212), fixes the 'Time Machine Drives not showing' issue

I'm still randomly seeing the 'Macintosh HD' drive just not showing at all anywhere, and then it's there. But otherwise my issues are all resolved! I do like how the Network Drives show as a Bar instead of a Circle, though. But that's a minor gripe. Overall, I'm really enjoying the v7 Upgrade.

Yup, Time Machine drive is now showing up here as well :)

Still got bugs with AirPods battery status and not dimming items on inactive 2nd monitor (reports are sent. 🤓)

What is going on with the fans' reporting? How can I get the RPM value and not a percentage? When the fans are off, it still shows 2%??

Yeeehaaa! There I go!

Just curious, what’s the release version? I mean, what’s the version the Mac App Store app is based on? I really hope all the bugs ironed out won’t be present on this version of the app.

Ok, I see it is the 7.0.2, which I think is one of the most recent versions.

EDIT: sadly, I won’t be able to purchase it. You raised the minimum macOS requirement to macOS 14 and I’m running macOS 12.7 because that’s the latest version my Mac supports.

I guess I’ll just keep using the open source alternative Stats…

There’s one code base for the entire app, which means when we release for the web, Setapp or the App Store, it’ll typically be whatever the latest is. In this instance, that does mean the App Store version has all the latest fixes.

The requirements for the web version of iStat Menus is macOS 11+. Maybe that’s a good option for you?

Nah, I’ve been waiting for the Mac App Store version because I prefer purchasing it there. Easy to get, easy to update, easy to re-install each time I format my computer. I just don’t understand that, if the minimum requirement of the software is Big Sur, you require Sonoma on the App Store.

I’m confused. How can the same app code have a different minimum OS, depending whether App Store or web purchase option?

With different build targets in Xcode, you can set it up like that.
If you ever consider compiling the Mac App Store version with the same minimum requirement of the web version, or even macOS 12 Monterey, let me know and I will purchase it. And I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one still on Monterey…

Sorry if I’m being stupid. I’m still confused. Why would someone choose to set it up like that? For what reason or advantage?
There was no reason given, perhaps he couldn't say it.

I am guessing to maintain legacy OS support on the AppStore version would take additional work than it is worth.

Please add support for older Macs that were supported on iStat Menus 6.
Upgraded to iStat Menus 7 and notice the sensors stats on my MacBook Pro 2011 are missing.
Thanks!!

We typically try and support as far back as possible for OS versions. I don’t have a specific answer for that one on hand, but I assume it was because we couldn’t for a technical reason.

I posted on Reddit but probably get better response here.

I have multiple disk drivers connected and I'd have the space available usage with a next to it graph. It was neatly arranged with ungrouping but in this it groups all together making it look a little messy. All the graphs are sat next together when I want them seperated with there associated usage.

Unless there is a setting I'm missing I can't see it.

Top pic is V6 with ungrouping enabled. Bottom pic is V7 with ungrouping disabled.

Quick question. I made the mistake of agreeing to upgrade from verions 6 to version 7. Is there any way to roll this back, downgrade to 6 and have my previous settings restored?

At first, version 7 seemed like a mistake to update. The latest version 7.02 is good when I have adjusted all the settings according to my needs. Developers keep up the good work.
