I don't even see the person you quoted saying that
The quoted post suggested I was complaining because a situation wasn’t optimized around me, as if some people would receive a 2 meter cable and complain it’s too long. So I asked if they’ve ever seen that happen, because I have not.

They also suggested I was “berating a company”, which is a hilarious thing to say about what might be the most powerful company on the planet earth. As if Apple is being personally attacked here, and I’ve ruined Tim Cook’s day.

Preface: I chose your post because it was the most recent.

Why have a big issue like the EU pushing for USB-C to be ‘standard’ if, yet, customers are going to expect all relevant accessories to be included anyway? In other words, these types of situations often feel shortsighted and subjective/debatable.

Primary reason is profit, no doubt. However, that doesn’t negate the possibility of other (valid) reasons. For example, no longer including AC adapters does reduce expense, the item itself as well as reducing transport and storage costs. Nonetheless, it is also generally less environmentally impactful — not “environmentally-friendly” that’s just marketing.

In other words, for me, at least, these cherry-picked complaints come off as projection (ex: "Tim Cook is just greedy but I’m not greedy or acting entitled at all”).:
Agree about the possible reasons above. I have been using Macs since the mid '80s, so anybody can say that I am already locked into the Apple ecosystem, or live in the bubble of comfort, or that I have drank the Apple CoolAid.

However, while I am mostly pleased with the Apple Products I have and use, it makes no sense for me to ignore the OP's displeasure with Apple for only including a 1 meter (slightly longer than a 3-foot) cable with such an expensive iPad. A 2-meter cable should be best for the user, but not for Apple.

I just don't understand why so many posters in these forums always take Apple's side non all issues-whichever these may be- which include:
-The absence of a charger or cable in some of the products.
-A rechargeable mouse with the charging port at the bottom.
-The extremely high cost for RAM and SSD.
-The absence of a microphone or headphone ports at the front of some new Macs.
-Designing a Mac mini with both the cooling air and exhaust ports side by side at the bottom.
-Worst of all, designing both the Mini and Studio with the air intakes at the lowermost portion of the case and in close proximity to the tabletop or dest they sit on.

See, designing a Mac or mini with a stand to keep the air intake ports elevated form the base of the Mac would increase production costs (more materials and labor). So it's a lot easier for Apple to release the product as designed and let the buyer buy a stand or whatever he or she wants for it. Meanwhile "we" the posters in this and other forums tell our individual likes and dislikes about the product, and this is fine. What is not OK is to blatantly take a defensive stand of Apple and refute all other posters who don't like what the original poster of this thread tells. Not all of us use the iPad exactly the same way and place every moment... while connected to an AC outlet that's located 1 meter away. A 6-foot charging cable is just an average length that still makes it possible for charging the iPad or Mac that is placed on a desk or table, thus the reason why most of us buy all types of cables sold at Amazon and other stores.

Why would you post a screenshot of a MacBook Pro when he's talking about iPad Pro?

The cable length for "What's in the Box" is not listed for iPad Pro.

Apple clearly states on their website the iPad ships with a 1 meter charging cable. That fact should have been no surprise to you. If you didn't know ahead of time, the fault is yours. Now that you know, if you keep the device, you are essentially admitting your rant here is empty and meaningless.

If they did, I’d like to know where. I don’t see it in iPad Pro shopping page. All it says is “USB-C Charge Cable”.

I don't want my next iPad Pro to be shipped with a 2m cable. 1m is perfect. Whole different story for MacBook Pro where I do need a 2m cable.

@Gsxr750 I can’t reply to a comment that has no content other than attachments.
But here is what I see at the shopping page.

There is no cable length mentioned anywhere.
The cable length is mentioned in tech specs but few would deliberately visit that site to get information about the device they are about to purchase. You can argue “customers should”, but most won’t, and there is really no reason to go there “just for the cable length”. It should’ve been mentioned on the main page.

Just saying that it is there. This whole thread is silly anyways. All this anger over a $10 cord.

It is shown under tech specs > "In the box" 1m charging cable. All on the same page.
That’s strange. I’ve scrolled the page I screenshotted to you all the way to the bottom. And I don’t see anything mentioned above. The page where customer configure their iPad Pro has no mention of tech specs you show above whatsoever. Maybe US apple site is different?

not in the place where customer purchases their iPad, and that’s my point. This thread may be silly but it shows how Apple is slowly cutting costs on almost every aspect of their product shipment. From harmless “one fewer sticker” to shorter charging cable. I’m sure soon there will be no charging cable came with brand new device and good luck for Apple prompting users that there will be no charging accessories in the product box.

I can see OP pov in the matter, paying a premium price and Apple not offering a premium length cable seems like a penny pinching and bean counting move.

If Apple includes a longer cable some people will appreciate it while others may not or may not care either way but then it will cost more money due to weight, packaging size, shipping etc for Apple.

One could also say it’s wasteful both way if including a short length cable a customer will not use it and buy a longer cable while one could say if Apple included a longer cable then the customer would not need to buy another cable adding to more e-waste and loss in finances.

What is the best solution forward? Hard to say, for me I feel Apple should not include any cables and instead give a discount for the cable not being included but we know Apple rarely provides discounts and just add the omission to its bottom line.

I don’t use any of the USB-C cables from my Apple devices but that’s just me as I sell or trade it in when I upgrade and even though the cable is not needed I still provide it.

Hi, I just remembered that Apple also sells longer cables separately. So if the cable that comes in the box is too short for you, you can buy a longer one separately.

Ipso fatso, the prosecution rests on its flawed logic.

Didn't know that, ok that's new. Just get that one then. Problem solved.

I agree that Apple should include a 2m cable but I lack the passion about cables to call it utterly ridiculous
Here's a compromise: include the 2m cable with the Magic Keyboard, since anyone buying the MKB is more likely to charge their iPad Air or Pro the way they would charge their MacBook. It would also serve as an extra incentive to buy the expensive MKB.

And anyone buying a third party keyboard case (or none) is saving enough money to pay for their own 2m cable.

I don't understand this complaint. None of my iPad Pros since 2017 have come with a 2 meter cable, but now OP wants to make this an issue?

I have to agree. I spent over 2500 dollars on the top model. It's silly that basically comes with almost no notable accessories. however, no one forced me to buy it. And as work covers all my other tech devices and this is my only 'fun' tech purchase, I dont have to much to complain about.
