While I love to bash Tim and Apple, got to side with them on this one.

Those designers are pathetic, you can't really call yourself a designer when all you do is copy.

Would never spend a dollar on these fools. That being said, they probably have a lot in common with Tim Cook

Clearly they are breaching copyright laws, it resembles to Apple’s logo they have taken the Apple logo and cut out the letter J, and the name Steve Jobs is probably one of the worst names you could pick for a trademark and the cutout J from the Apple logo for a logo is also dreadful.

Steve Jobs is a good name for a person but not as a company name or brand name, these idiots are a bunch of idiots and don’t see a success for them as they need to rethink the brand name and logo as that can make or break a company and what they have the moment is no future

A fashion company that lacks the creativity to come up with an original name. They won't be around long.

"We are working on a line of highly innovative electronic devices, projects we have been working on for years,"

Well, it certainly is an "innovative" name... the thing is, Steve Jobs also had taste.

There's nothing tasteful or classy about naming your company after a man who died a few years ago, didn't know you, never met you, and didn't approve or endorse your product in any way.

Names are deeply personal things. They evoke feelings that are tied to the people who had those names. That's why they named their company after this guy - because they wanted to be associated with him, but it's fake, and Steve of all people would have hated the idea.

On the other hand, it's exactly what made Steve Jobs so special. The world is full of people like this, who don't get it. They think that copying, or creating awkward branding-associations, has meaning. Steve was by all accounts very opinionated, and was driven by the idea of making something great. It's what you do that matters. Real artists ship.

Isn't it a little parasitic to use Steve's name just for the press? How about making a product that can stand up on it's own right? Using someone's name that has nothing to do with your product seems quite unethical.

Apple should appeal, also the estate of Steve Jobs should sue both men. They use the name of Apple's founder and make a logo that has some reference to Apple's logo in it but yet some idiot European judge say's no, there is nothing remotely similar to Apple and therefore customers cannot get confused as to what they are buying. Err, yes customers will get confused because both the logo and name imply that the company are connected to the Apple company, of which they are not.

Also, just because Apple did not trademark the name does not mean it's acceptable to use a dead man's name to promote your product, have it plastered across the product and claim that you've done nothing wrong.

Therefore in my opinion they've only done it so they can sell the brand name to Apple at a later date.

That logo is horrible.
That is the most gawd awful ugliest brand I've ever seen. The awkward letter shape, the very unclear "bite" out of it, the leaf on top, the name "Steve jobs" straddling. 4 wildly incongruent things that your eye has to make sense of. I'm more disgusted at the logo than them stealing Steve Jobs name.

anyone got the website for Italian's Steve Jobs? might as well order some turtleneck and a pair of jeans now. if lucky, I might order new balance with it

This is so sad. Taking a random famous name for a product that has nothing to do with that person whatsoever? Not to mention the logo. Seems there's no lower limit for dignity.

I imagine in every single conversation about their company they are being asked what their connection to that person is and they answer "Well, none really, it's just a famous person and we thought we might benefit from that fact".

Such a puzzling, and disrespectful, use of time, talent and money. To capitalize off of a dead person's name. Maybe they believe that they are preserving his name somehow, but I'm sure all that matters is how much money they can make from this venture.

Can’t believe the hate and vitriol in this thread either.

They took a big gamble and knew they would get into a big fight with Apple, but did it anyway - and won. That takes guts going against a massive multinational corporation. It reflects positively on them in my opinion.

I don’t think any reasonable person could confuse their brand with being an official Apple product. They’d have to be on the very low end of the intelligence scale.

Does the name make me want to buy their clothes any more? No. Any less, no also. Good on them for trying.

Clearly they are breaching copyright laws,
Copyright? No. Possibly trademark laws if it is registered or documented used before. Seem like neither. The laws are pretty much equal in Europe as in the US. A simplistic leaf is not exactly something you could copyright.

I don’t think the outcome in the US would be different. And it is not illegal to be stupid, vicious, have bad taste or be ugly. No matter what you may believe here in the great forum.
