How terribly much can they have problems with one single music store?!?! This is totally insane... Boy do I feel lucky now that I have the store available already.

Who's to say that REAL beer is measured by alcohol content? Shouldn't it be on taste? Personally, I think Kokanee and Bud and all that other stuff is piss water... OK for a quick beer on a hot day, but real beer has more flavor, such as Kokanee Gold or Sleeman's Honey Brown .... but then again, that's just opinion.

Alexander Keith's. Those who like it, like it a lot.

I have to admit, I don't. It's way too light for my tastes.

And even if I did like it, the *incredibly* annoying commercials would make me ashamed to buy it.

Why to so many companies seem to not realize that if you make your main mascot incredibly, horribly, annoying, people will associate that feeling with your company and product?

you will never ever hear

no one on the Apple or label side will ever divulge whose fault it was that the store didn't launch. But when we see how songs are priced (better be .99 canadian if they want to take over like they did everywhere else) that may give us some idea of what was going on. Further, the legal implications of uploading/downloading and the private copying clause (and accompanying tariff) in the Copyright Act are somewhat unsettled in Canada, so... It could have been a more complex negotiation than all of us imagine. Still, get the damn thing up!

Bull****. When its suposedly one month out legal has NOTHING to do with it. You announce something, anything dealing with the canadian RIAA =ent should be a god damn done deal at that point. 5 months ago? 7 months ago? a year? Sure. Not one freaking month out. And if on the off chance it happens to be true then once again Apple is playing games releasing a timeframe with an unstable product. (Or in this case service.) Unstable in that its not ready to go. One month out the only thing Apple should be doing is ironing out small bugs not be in a legal struggle with RIAC or whatever they are called.

Stop making excuses. Apple is screwing around and I'm not talking intentionally dealying or something. I'm talking about Apple consistantly playing fast and loose with their release sched and basicly teasing the user with a "Oh we'll have it around this time and yanking their chain back. Either set a freaking date and stick to it or don't say a dang word about it.
This type of behavior isn't something one should expect from a mature company. Its something I would expect from a fly by night 1990's dot com company who has this great service that is going to be out soon! I know this post is tweaking some people but I've got to say it: Apple has to grow the heck up.

Got Stood Up

I had a date last night with a girl named iTunes. She told me she'd meet me in November...and I sat there waiting and waiting...and she never showed up. Bitch. I mean she KNEW I was waiting there for her...couldn't she at least call me, and let me know she wasn't gonna show up instead of just leaving me there waiting for nothing?

Then her ex-boyfriend showed up and said don't leave me yet. That's why she will be late, but you know that she will want all your attention when she finally comes through your door.

As a software developer, I have personal experience with setting deadlines and missing them. There are an infinite number of unforseen circumstances that can cause a date to be missed. Although I agree that Apple never should've made a statement such as "opening in November" without having all the paperwork done, it's a simple fact that none of us know the real reason for the delay. We can only speculate.

My guess is the competition is worried, very very worried, and are making life difficult for Apple through every means they can. That's a very negative way to look at it. Shame on me.

George Bush vs iTunes in Canada

Maybe it's been mentioned already, but... maybe Apple just didn't want the iTunes Canada release to coincide with Bush's visit to Canada. Just a thought :-|

AT LEAST WE ARE GETTING ITMS!

I COULD SEE IT AS BEING A MORE STRATEGIC MOVE TO OPEN THE STORE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MONTH THAN THE VERY LAST DAY....SMART MOVE ON THEIR PART...

OH AND SONGS BETTER NOT COST MORE THAN $.99

It's just a fact that "done deal" means one thing in a business/marketing sense and a completely different thing in a legal sense. I have no doubt that CRIA and all of the labels want iTunes Canada and agreed in principle to get the deal signed in November but it clearly proved more difficult than either side thought. Likely for many of the reasons that I mentioned above. Think about all of the merger deals you hear about that ultimately don't end up happening.

just a thought but the shuffle is going on as we speak with the BMG/Sony merger (heads are on the chopping block), so perhaps everyone is too busy to ink the final deal on their end.

An Official Statement!!!!

"We said that we would launch the iTunes Music Store in Canada by the end of November, but we're going to miss this deadline by a bit," the company said. "You'll hear from us very soon."

This is an official statement from Apple. What the HELL IS THIS!!!!

That is an official statement? My respect for Apple is dropping by the minute.

This is how an international corporation handles their business? If I did business this way I would be homeless!
