so um....youre saying the GM that is out now will be different than the GM that will be released next wednesday?? I'm confused as to what youre trying to say

----------

Oh yeah it's running 'fine' but the complaints that people had during the beta - that were quickly dismissed as 'beta' bugs - are now still there.
Unlock your phone and try to swipe before the animation ends. you can't.
That's one.

why is that a bug?

When has an x.0 release of iOS ever been perfect?

...

...

*crickets*

...

Yeah, that's what I thought.

I don't know why there is so much more bitching than usual this time. But I've never come across a x.0 release that doesn't have a few minor problems. If you don't want to deal with them, DON'T UPGRADE TO A NEW MAJOR RELEASE UNTIL x.1 or x.2 COMES OUT!

This should be common sense, but... oh yeah, this is Macrumors. If ya'll were paid to whine you'd be millionaires.

This is the issue.

Before people were being blasted for complaining about a beta. The argument there was "What do you expect?!? Don't install until the final release!"

Now its, "DON'T UPGRADE TO A NEW MAJOR RELEASE UNTIL x.1 or x.2 COMES OUT!"

Its amazing the lengths some people will go to be loyal to a product. People can have opinions and the reason that most of this country owns an iPhone is because one upon a time "it just worked".

lol, totally agree!

they are hiding on their beloved and mighty apple... you should be ashamed of yourselves these darn nerds who kept replying "it's a beta" should now realize how ****ed up this is

Because its a poor design choice that is nor present in the previous version it is replacing

Sorry, but that's not a bug. That's just a design choice you don't agree with, but it's working as intended. Hence in no way, shape or form a bug.

If that was used to call something a bug then by upgrading Vista to Windows 7 it was technically a bug fix! :)

Same thing was said about Apple maps - "It's a beta".

We all know what happened in the end...

well this 'feature', bug or not, was complained about and people dismissed it as being as it was a beta and the real thing shouldve fixed it

just like Apple maps wasnt a bug....but people excused its mediocrity, as it was a 'beta'

Using the bug reporter can be a frustrating experience. I reported that a control button that was present in the videos app in iOS 6 is missing in iOS 7. I got a reply from Apple's engineers asking for crash logs. I replied that that shouldn't be necessary. Nothing crashed. They're just missing a control that should be there (the button that lets you bring up the chapter menu in a video). They replied again with a complete set of instructions for capturing crash logs and asking me to submit one.

That's cause you were reporting it as a bug. They may have removed that button for some stupid reason. So a feature request would have gotten the 'hey put it back' to them without the hoopla

Been meaning to ask this, but I keep forgetting...

Does the Video 'Scrubbing' not work smoothly for anyone else? It used to be solid on iOS 6. Now its ridiculously choppy and not at all accurate.

Oh and a friendly reminder: IOS 7 is still Pre-Release right now which means if you bring it in for Service with IOS 7 on it you will Void your 1 Year Warranty!

Not true. Well not totally true.

If it borks and won't restore or something like that, yes you are screwed on a hardware replacement

But if they, or you, can restore it to functioning either by a DFU and downgrade (which most stores will make you take home and figure out yrouself as 'punishment' for installing something you shouldn't have or not paying attention to the whole 'developers go here for support' instructions) or a clean restore to iOS 7 once the software is officially on the market, then you are fine.

Only unlocking an iPhone yourself permitting voids your warranty cause it breaks firmware that can't be repaired even by a DFU

----------

I took mine into an Apple store before the GM was released and they didn't say a word.

Depends on the issue. If it is something that is definitely software oh well too bad for you. If it is something that is likely software, the same.

If it is something they knew about before iOS 7 released and knew it to be hardware. Or they can clearly see is hardware like water damage, a busted screen, jammed volume buttons. You are fine.

Not true :p. The warranty states that it does not apply to modifications that cause damage to the product but is not voided. Meaning, if you install prerelease software or do something like jailbreak or unlock it yourself, your warranty will not cover damaged cause by the above.

This Apple article kind of helps explain it. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3743?viewlocale=en_US

Just because people incorrectly assumed Apple's now obvious design intent was in fact a bug or a beta issue does not mean that it is now wrong since it was released as such.

Simply because YOU do not feel the animations, or the new layout of the calendar, or the new navigation within iTunes, WHATEVER...is the way YOU like it, does not mean the software is bad.

And yes, even a GM can still have "bugs"....and yes, there are plenty of us who are having ZERO issues with the GM (even on my iPad 2).

Why? Who the hell knows...

Yep.

The attitude of defending cockups is bizarre. It doesn't do Apple or the iPhone any good to pretend things that are broken are fine. Complaining is more likely to get them fixed, which is a win for everyone (including Apple, who have a better product to sell).

crap man, why are you arguing for the sake of arguing lol... you're telling me that having the phone unresponsive while it goes through the animation is not worse than iOS 6?
Are you now saying that the Apple Maps implementation is also better than Google maps that it replace?
sheesh

I don't think I mentioned Apple Maps at all....and remember, if not for that whole thing happening, you wouldn't have received a Google Maps app only a few months later that is light years better than what would have remained if they just left the original maps app powered by Google...right?

And yes...I am saying it is absolutely ridiculous to think that more than .0001% of the iPhone using population will give two s**ts about not being able to tap an icon a millisecond later due to an animation more than they will appreciate the novelty of actually having the animation there in the first place. It enhances the user experience for the VAST MAJORITY of the users. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it wrong.

and how the heck did you pull out that statistic or are you talking out of your ass? I for one would want a new OS to be better than the older one it's replacing. are you saying having a quicker phone is not better?? I don't think its ridiculous to want a faster functioning phone. I don't get it why/what are you arguing??

I'm arguing that your ASSUMPTION that your PERSONAL PREFERENCE is not necessarily BETTER for everyone else and that it may actually be preferred by the majority of users.

If quicker was better, they would have no pretty bells and whistles at all.

Ask Apple for that and enjoy your black and white, limited graphics phone.

meh your point is stupid. why wouldnt a quicker phone be better

I think the biggest issue for a lot of individuals is that this is not what is expected from this company. The "it just works" mantra doesn't seem to hold anymore water, and has turned into "It works most of the time". On the flip side though, instead of coming onto these forums to say "I told you so", individuals would be better off just submitting the bugs (if they aren't already doing so).

You may be right, but to be honest I don't think it have always worked (anything from Apple) 100% as it should and for everyone. There will always be people who may experience problems. On this case unfortunately it's you (and others) next time it will be me (and others) Perfection is just an illusion, even when it comes to Apple products who personally I think are among the best electronic products.

Waiting less than half a second before you go swipe crazy is hardly classified as "unresponsive ".
