From what I've seen, the lack of RAM seems to present itself as being worse on the 6 Plus. Not sure if it's because there is more simultaneous content on the screen, or because it does the scaling. But it is not ideal.

I am very glad to hear the rumors that Apple is focusing on optimizing and speeding up iOS 9. It needs it. I am also hopeful that they might be able to port some advanced OS X technologies, such as RAM compression, to help us get up to 1.5X the RAM, depending on usage. However I don't know enough about the technology to know if it's feasible on mobile devices. It may require a bit of CPU overhead—as normal compression often does. However, this could be less of an issue with the A8 or perhaps the future A9 chip.

Besides that, the biggest downside for me has been the lack of third party support for the larger display—especially on the 6 Plus. Apps aren't doing much to take advantage of the extra space—unlike they do on the iPad. This was a fairly significant selling point for me, especially as I replaced my iPad Mini 2 with the iPad Air 2. The display itself is gorgeous and pretty good for watching video content. But outside of that and Apple-apps there isn't much reason for it. Even the sidebar content Apple uses seems superfluous.

I'm also not overly impressed with the optical image stabilization on the 6 Plus. It helps, but not to the extent I thought it would. I could do without it next time, especially if the iPhone 6S doesn't have it as I'm definitely going back down in size.

For a start off, I bought one too...and I'm unhappy. Also, the vast majority of iPhone owners aren't registered on MacRumors. Plus we can't discount the fact that most iPhone owners use their devices in a very basic manner. My mate's girlfriend only uses hers for Whatsapp, phonecalls and Twitter.

Fact? What fact? You have no proof on what how most people use their iPhones so just stop while you're never ahead. Thousands of people use their iPhones for business (which I am one of them) and there's no basic manner in which I use it.
It's okay though, most people on this forum are aware of your shenanigans. Keep pretending that YOUR issues are everybody else's issues if it makes you feel better.

What apps are you using that don't take advantage of the 6plus's space? I use many apps without this issue. I will say this however, the 6 plus is the first iPhone featured in this size so some developers may be holding off to see if the next 6plus will remain this size. When companies constantly make changes some developers may not keep up with the flow until they see the design remain constant so it's worth their time.

What are you talking about? Given Apples history of keeping the same form factor for two years in a row, what makes you think it would be any different this time around? Not to mention that there's no way justifying it the way you did, especially given the vast amount of sales for both the 6 and 6 Plus. Furthermore, these models won't vanish as soon as we see the new S-models.

1242 × 2208 will most likely be the actual resolution for the iPhone "7", including both sizes.

It was just a theory of mine. Did I say it was fact? No. Since you're toileting my theory then why do you think some developers are stagnant creating properly sized apps for the 6 plus? Hmm?

Five months in and I still love the hell out of my 6, it's like it's still brand new. Perfect quality control, great feel and build quality, and KILLER battery life - I unplug at 8 AM and by 11 PM I'm often still north of 90%. In fact it's almost 2 PM and my phone still says 100% battery. My 5's battery was terrible, so this is a welcome change, hope it doesn't get worse with iOS updates.

I can go days without a charge, literally.

The lack of ram is annoying but not really a deal breaker. There is nothing better right now so we just have to live with it. It's only when using Safari that I really notice it. Web pages just use too much ram now. Maybe it has something to do with the 64 bit also that makes it worse. My i5 on iOS 6 was the best for hanging on to safari tabs. It all went down hill starting with iOS 7 and the worst with 8. But if I open a bunch of other apps and don't use safari iOS8 seems to keep many of them suspended. As soon as I open 2 or more tabs poof! It starts closing down the apps now.

It's hard to find fault with something you never use.

Loads of people are clamouring for 2GB, me included.
Lets face it though, Apple have given us 1GB for so long that by the time they finally increase the RAM, 2GB will be the bare minimum they can get away with. Heck, the 5S needed 2GB and the iPhone 7 should have 3GB.

Does the 6 have Safari tab issues or something? I honestly can't say I've noticed any memory-related problems with my 5S. In fact whenever I'm using it for development I've noticed its never received any memory warnings (which occur when the OS is trying to purge apps due to memory pressure) nor have I noticed it ever use anything near to its total amount of memory.

I've had a play around with the i6 but own the 6+. The 6 is similar to the 5S when it comes to tab and app reloading, but the 6+ is by far the worst. The iPhone 5 trumps them all, and I used to think that was a bit 'reload' happy...

Proof the iPhone 5 reloads tabs less than the 6Plus? Doubtful. And thanks for ignoring my request for you to prove your FACT as stated in regards to most people using their iPhone in a very basic manner. You're making up stuff as usual.

The proof is that is does. Go and get yourself one if you need to see it for yourself.
Practically everyone I know who has iPhones doesn't use them for anything but the basics; and those who comment here that their 6+ performs flawlessly, is buttery smooth and never reloads tabs or apps can't use their phones for much at all either. Just my opinion.#

Yep, typical response of someone who makes stuff up at an attempt to win an argument.
You used the word FACT. Post facts then. And the amount of friends you have doesn't qualify as MOST people using their iPhones in a very basic manner. You seem to have a convoluted notion that you're the only one that uses your iPhone 6 Plus extensively. And just because people don't have an issue with tabs reloading doesn't mean they don't use their iPhone 6 extensively. Web surfing isn't the only thing the phone is used for.
But by all means, keep trashing the 6 Plus. You're entertaining. Please make sure not to do too often, there's a word for your actions and we can get the moderator involved to make that call.

I never thought you ever believed it was a fact. I just didn't see a foundation for your theory, which I guess was too harsh of me, but I would't call that toileting. Most people here don't know any better (neither do I), but trying to support it by showing what Apple has done in the past can usually make one's argument stronger.

It's a good question, but the question is if it's really that much worse than when the 5 came out? The market is a lot bigger nowadays, and seeing how developers make more money than ever, there's no real reason for them being reluctant seeing how the 6 and the 6 Plus are the most sold iPhones since their release.

What major apps aren't still properly sized that are used worldwide?

Well the memory footprint is less, since the 5 is 32-bit while the 5S, 6 and 6 Plus are 64-bit. That's a pretty strong case. The 6 and 6 Plus require more bandwidth since they support higher resolutions, which will affect the amount of space that can be saved by the RAM.

Actually I have no reason to disagree with you about that. I personally have not had any issues with apps not properly sized for the 6 Plus, so I have no idea which apps people are referring to. Some people here however are experiencing this. It definitely is a mystery why some developers would not jump at the chance to upgrade their apps for Apple's latest iPhone since it's been so successful.

I'm perfectly happy with mine. Only complaint with it is that I still think the screen is too big. Every time I use my friends' iPhone 5S, it just feels easier to hold and text on (and I have large hands). A 4" iPhone 6S would be perfect.

Exactly. I do have a few domestic apps that need to be updated (my bank). The only worldwide app I use which hasn't been updated yet is Speedtest by Ookla, which does seem very odd. Then again, I hardly think they make that much on it.

TED Talks took a long time as well, but it just got updated.

Oh, and Full Fitness which promised an iOS 7 overhaul, two years ago!

Oh never, why would I do that? That would allow you to continue spreading FUD without a fair rebuttal. I'm sure that's what you hope most others will do. :p

Sunking is so n the mission, every thread he has made it his obligation to talk about ram or lack thereof.

I don't understand why would he put himself through the misery of using the iPhone given his deeply rooted disdain towards it

I haven't started even one thread about RAM on the 6+. Not one. I post in many threads and only mention RAM where it is relevant to the OP's thread. Plenty of my posts praise iPhones and praise elements of the 6+, but I will never praise the lack of RAM. Far too many folk here seem to hate any kind of criticism towards Apple products, or products that they themselves own.

I'm sorry that you find criticism of a flaw in a product you own as being trolling, or 'shenanigans'. Perhaps you could develop a thicker skin? I have zero problems with folk who don't encounter an issue that I do with their usage pattern, and nor should they have a problem with the fact that I (and others) do encounter a certain problem. There are many problems voiced on these forums that I don't come across, or that don't impact severely on me. I don't go slating those people or calling them trolls etc.

No, I'm not trolling. Currently at 17 minutes usage with 9 hours standby and just dropped to 99% as I typed this. Full brightness, wifi and bluetooth on, 3 bars LTE. It may not be a lot of usage, but 17 minutes of the screen on full brightness, with push notifications, location services etc. all turned on isn't too bad. So no, I'm not trolling - that's my usage case. Sorry, I have a life and a job and use my phone as needed, I don't sit glued to my phone for 12+ hours a day like the average macrumors member playing some stupid trite game and then whining that the battery sucks.

My iPhone 5 - which wasn't part of the defective battery serial number range - would've been at 60-70% by this point. Sorry but great standby time still counts, because the majority of the time a normal person's phone is going to be in standby. My 5 could've never touched this. On a heavy, heavy day, the battery is still north of 60%, usually closer to 70% by 11 PM. So however you want to cut it, my battery life is insane. If yours isn't, I'm sorry to hear that.

Firstly, about me "growing thicker skin", now you're getting personal. I don't get personal with people here. Maybe you're the one with the flaw.

I have zero problems with folk who don't encounter an issue that I do with their usage pattern, and nor should they have a problem with the fact that I (and others) do encounter a certain problem.

Short memory much? You called me a liar the other day and virtually anyone that says they aren't not experiencing the issues you're having such as screen freezing, lag and tabs reloading then you tell them right to their face that they are not using their iPhone nearly as much as you. You have no idea how people use their iPhone so you may want to remove yourself from that high horse.

Call me a liar or a troll all you want

No worries, he will. He's called me and others a liar here before. It's what he does when he fails at spreading the FUD he's attempting at doing. ;)
