probably. I learned it from someone on leopard and they didn't have to sign it. doesn't 10.6 have the app store tho?

Oh, alright then. Also, yeah, 10.6.6 and above have the app store but it doesn't come with the annoying developer check that 10.7 and above have, and i removed the app store from my os x installation because it dont work anymore lol, ill try to patch 9.2.1 soon in that case

Your second solution doesn’t make sense, as it’s for iOS devices, and an iPod from 2004 doesn’t run iOS.

iPods DO use IPSW files (i believe they stand for iPod SoftWare?). This one, for example, is firmware 1.0.4 for the 4G nano.

NVM, it doesn't work, and it doesn't let me codesign, likely because my Xcode version is too old. I'll survive with 9.2 for now lol

I have noticed that most of my podcasts can't update anymore. For some, I can see the title of the episodes but download fails. Others still sync fine, it seems to depend on where they are hosted e.g, "Hello World" is hosted at

http://feeds.feedburner.com/VenganzasDelPasado I still see the episodes but download fails since 2024.

I tried the patcher program from Macintosh Garden and it didn’t work, no idea why.

Bummer.
 
UPDATE: I have reverted to itunes 10.7. I tried using the itunes 11 method to fix the store, but it just made the store a white screen. This did fix genius, but i wanted to use the store again. Signing in or authorizing ended up throwing a -50 error. I did figure out a different way to sign in, by updating to itunes 12, signing in, deleting the .itl, p

yeah thanks for that. I appreciate the reply back. I am having some trouble getting xcode to install becaues my mac is running snow leopard, and it is hard to find am xcode dmg that actually works. I keep on getting the message of installation failed

do you think there is another way to get this to work... because I been wanting genius to work for ages. is there files you can send or another route to take??

IIRC the snow leopard install disk includes xCode 3, and xcode 4.2 is on macintosh garden! https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/xcode-42-snow-leopard
 
I finally got xcode to install along with command line tools but still crashes which is an shame, thanks for ur help though. I still feel there is an way to make this work another way

sorry to be an pain

but are you able to run the instructions down from like step 1 to finish

I followed all your steps but it is still not working so there is an step I am missing or did wrong, etc. it will be really appreciated.

I am using itunes 11.4 on macOs 10.6.8, I have installed xcode and its needed tools and I followed the website you provided.
 
Hi, could someone please point me to the 'how to guide' on this workaround? I have read the forum thread, but it is not really clear where you get the OG information and guide that everyone is referring.

I have iMac7,1, on latest Snow Leopard, and iTunes 11.4. The iTunes store does not work - gives no internet error. I want to enable iTunes store, so I could pull genius information and playlists, and enable ios apps management. At the moment I can't use genius and can't upload ios apps to my ipods.

Not sure about Genius specifically, but I was able to get the store working on iTunes 10 by using `aproxy` 0.0.5 from this thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/tls-1-3-ppc.2425214/

I just run aproxy, set it as my system HTTPS proxy, and then all web-based OS functionality starts working again. It only fixes TLS negotiation so obviously if the endpoint has changed it won't work.

I can't do everything the OP does (load music video previews) but I can browse the store, look at descriptions of shows or movies, etc. Maybe Genius will work - it's worth a shot.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will try it out.

On the intel (iMac7,1) Mac OS Snow Leopard, with iTunes 11.4, I have installed Aqua Proxy, from mavericksforever.com It has a readme with instructions inside. This helped solving the "no internet connection" error. iTunes now can see internet connection and connect to iTunes store. It shows the content, plays previous, etc.

Now the issue is that if I try to log in, or enable genius on new iTunes library, it blocks it, saying "update to newest iTunes version". Of course this is not possible on the old system. I tried to spoof the iTunes version, by editing the plist files, with new version numbers, but that did not work. iTunes servers still recognized iTunes 11.4 as an old application.

Temporary workaround that worked: I used an old iTunes library folder, that I have backed upped previously, and it had genius originally enabled. I removed all the media files, and added everything fresh. Then I connected to iTunes store, and clicked on menu item Store > Update Genius. This then prompted iTunes to update Genius information, and the genius mixes and playlists worked after the update. But it worked only because the library already had genius enabled.

Now I need to figure it out how to work around this "update to newest iTunes version" and spoof the version numbers. I think it is the only reason it does not allow to log in with old iTunes. With this solved, I could log in, and then genius can be enabled on new libraries, and also iPod apps should work as well.

Things I will try. Obviously, without logging in to iTunes store, I will not be able to sync my legal ios games, that were purchased. But I will try to sync some cracked ipa files to some jailbroken ipods and see if that works.

ps sorry just realized this is ppc thread, not intel..
