Is it just me or is the Genius feature not all it's cracked up to be? I just don't find it all that useful. Maybe I'm missing the point somehow.:rolleyes:

I love it. Seems to work best for large libaries. I have 20 years worth of music collecting, it's nice to select one song and let the computer put together a play list based on it. Not world peace, but it amuses me.

I'm concerned about the iTunes plus feature. Does this mean that when you import the metadata will add the name of who burned the CD as well. I already import at 256 ACC quality, whats the difference between that and itunes Plus quality?

I love iTunes but it has grown into bloatware over the years.

Generally it runs pretty fast, but on startup, syncing and shutdown iTunes takes a long time.

And...

I just checked all of the posts on this forum and no one said this... I feel I have a good point and would appreciate it if you told me what you thought of it...

Since iTunes 8.1 brings faster syncing and the TV Show and Movie Genius feature don't you think there will be a new iPhone firmware out very soon?

I mean if there is it may or may not be to support the new coding for the faster syncing and TV Show and Movie Genius features to the iPhone (especially since the iPhone doesn't support TV Show and Movie purchases) but it could make sense. They have not released a new firmware in over a month (yes it is not a very long time but still nearing the average amount of time for a release) and maybe this would be a good time.

Also if that March 24th date for software is to be trusted (even though I am not to sure) who said it could only be Mac software? They could put the iPhone into the spotlight as well... Really show the commitment to the iPhone OS X platform.

Think about it... They could show off Slingbox for iPhone a HUGE step for the platform (and SlingMedia has said they are going to submit to Apple during Q1 - perfect timing), and a few other cool apps. Maybe the Need For Speed game, Recognize ngmoco:)'s hard work by showing off something new from them and what not... Why not?

To take the thought full circle they could also potentially show off iPhone Software 3.0 for the new iPhone. They do not have to announce the new iPhone (save it for WWDC '09) but get the beta firmware and beta SDK into developer's hands. Let the new iPhone reach its full potential out of the box on day one... And when they show off more App Store Apps at WWDC (which let's face it - if last year is any indication there will be more than enough ) they will have AMAZING apps to show off.

Anyway what do you guys think?

I hope that Apple would finally provide more options for printing cover art.

It would be nice to be able to control fonts, font size, and include other tags such as date, composer, etc.

What we have now is nice, but limited.

But will it allow full screen on only ONE display without blacking the other one?

Probably not.

The most moronic thing about iTunes as far as I am concerned.

I wish they'd hurry up with this fix. Old versions of Windows Media Player had this same problem, but they seem to have beaten Apple to fixing it.

I just thought of something and would appreciate feedback. Do you think it would be nice if Apple included lyrics for the songs you download? If you have used iheartradio you get that option while listening to a radio station but I think it would be cool to have that included in your downloads, thoughts?

No. All it means is the default import bit rate will be 256 ACC. You already import at 256 so don't worry about it. This in no way means the songs will be tagged any other way.

Unless they've re-written their encoder to make higher quality 256kbps files or something magical, I don't see how they could possibly be touting this as a new feature.

It's a new feature because it will now import cds by default at 256 instead of 128. I got it the first time I read it why is this such an issue and so hard for everyone to understand?

I got it the first time as well... Fairy simple concept ... But let's mot forget that this thread was created for learning (amongst other things). If people have question's I encourage them to ask...

Either way while this isn't a breakthrough it is a cool feature. Anything that helps my music sound like... well music to my ears... lol :D... is something that I am all for...

While I personally don't use CDs for music anymore I am sure there are tons of people who will utilize this feature... To each his own I suppose :).

Will there be a firmware update for the iPod/iPhones that comes with the new version of iTunes?

I also hate how iTunes automatically fills artist names and album names.
There are times that I don't want it to and it actually makes it impossible unless I copy paste from another application. Also, when I'm typing Japanese the autofill conflicts with the suggested conversion.

Hope that's fixed!

Please read post number 131 in this forum... I gave my thoughts on this very topic... Please let me know what you think...

I have been meaning to ask this for a while. Is iTunes okay with using symbolic links? The idea being link off the TV Shows folder and the Movies folder to another location without ever telling iTunes.

I couldn't agree more... Waiting quite impatiently while constantly running Software Update...

Come On Apple,
