It seems to me that the Genius playlist simply picks random songs from that genre not necessarily similar bands/artists.

I don't like the fact that you can't turn off the store links while still leaving the store enabled. That is NOT cool, Apple. :(

Also, I'm staying away from Genius... doesn't interest me one bit.

(Looking sheepish) So it is...

(Blush) Sorry... Move along... Nothing to see here...

:D

I thought my library was pretty well organised but these new views are showing up all kinds of wrong.:D

genius takes forever!!!

its been about 30mins... and its STILL gathering Info... and i also think this is a way to let apple know if ur buying music from them or downloading...

Luckily Apple just took away the GUI. Do the following in Terminal (after quitting iTunes first):

Code:
defaults write com.apple.itunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE

It still sucks Apple ditched the GUI, but at least there's a workaround.

So far I like the genius playlist... it is helping me discover music in my own library that I did not even remember I had!

As far the the recommendations... the jury is out.... still testing. I did notice it recommended a couple of songs I already had in my library (but maybe the titles were off slightly??)

The visualizer is the first native visualizer in Windows and Mac that I will use!

After so many years, they got it right!

The Browser (Ctrl+B) still has the same frigging "Genre | Artist | Album" view... are they frigging deaf? It should be "Genre | AlbumArtist | Album" so you won't get this problem where the Track Artists are scattered all over, for the same album:

Not that impressed:

- To enable Genius, you need the sidebar enabled, which is just advertising.
- Automatic playlists aren't that great. I chose New Soul by Yael Naim (from the Macbook Air adverts). I got a playlist with the rolling stones and snow patrol, despite having more fitting things like Chopin in the library.
- Lots of my songs aren't on the iTunes store (or I would have bought them from there, duh). No genius for those.

Ditto

iTunes Genius keeps saying my correct password for my correct aol account is incorrect. Not so Genius.

Edit: Nevermind, got it to work.

Except I get the 5002 Error when I go to update my Apps again.

I also get the 5002 Error- but only when trying to update my Apps. I can buy new ones (required me to accept the updated App Store license agreement). I tried the suggestions here but none helped. Looks like an 8.0 bug for me at least- maybe you'll have better luck with suggestions posted on that page.

same here app updates not working...

ALSO hopefully apple updates the "Remote" application to allow genius use...

Lost loads of my artwork too, have to spend hours and days getting all that back again.:(

Sorry that happened to you but thanks for sharing the info.

I have a backup but I certainly don't want to deal with that mess.

Disappointed...I won't be installing this version any time soon.

I wish I had gotten a screenshot, but I just got a weird error while Genius was gathering information on my library.

"The required disk could not be found."

I knew it was a mistake when they removed the floppy drive from Macs!
