Did anyone read the new terms and conditions???

When you're outside of the US (even temporarily) you cannot buy from the iTunes store anymore. Are they nuts?

So that means if you're on vacation you cannot shop in the iTunes Store anymore?

Apple has lost it.

Don't worry. It doesn't work. I'm away from home right now, and I just bought a song.

I'm mega pissed off I just finished downloading The Office Season 4 ~ Fun Run, Pts. 1 & 2 HD version and it just disappeared I have sent an email to Apple complaining hopefully I'll be allowed to re download.

Extremely pissed though.

Just remember Apple does not hype any of this. All the speculation about what is coming out is done by other people, NOT APPLE. these websites speculate what MIGHT be coming out and it seems to get people all excited and giddy. Then when apple releases their products and software, and it isnt what people expect. They get mad and come on here and complain about it.

There are some legitimate complaints about certain products, and that is ok. But to complain about a press event, give me a break.

Thank you!!! Also some people here got a lot of nerve ranting when iTunes is free. Do you have to pay for the software? No. Do you have to buy songs from iTunes? No. Will iTunes work without buying music? Yes.

Dock Icon Mute

Anyone notice they got rid of the "mute" option from the menu when you right click on the dock icon?

How the hell am I supposed to mute my internet radio quickly when I want to listen to something else?

how to turn off genre when browsing in list view

maybe i'm crazy, but i don't see a way to turn off the genre column when in list view. i just want artist and album, i don't want the stupid genre.
there was a setting in previous itunes versions, i think it was in prefs, not view options, but it doesn't seem to be in 8. that's bogus! anyone got any ideas?

It's still there in View Options.

OK that has been there since the beginning and I've had no problems ever so I take that with a grain of salt.

I think they have to include that to keep the record companies happy.

Frankly, I can't ever see it being enforced unless the record companies want people to download music illegally.

I can see it being used in the customer's favour if Nigerian fraudsters are buying music using your stolen ID.

I think he means in the Browser window - and I don't know how to it turn off either? I have looked everywhere! I don't use 'genre' as this differs from what I would use and don't want to have to change every genre when downloading songs, so I just don't display in the browser. Well now, don't know how to do this?

And Agathon, I like your version of the mobileme avatar better than mine!

Man, the best news of all the news today is that Apple gave in to NBC's demands and that they came back into the iTunes Store. I've sooooo missed Monk.

Welcome back, NBC! :)

Sorry Apple gave in to NBC? I think it was the other way around!

for the first part you dont have to have the sidebar enabled, the button in the bottom right corner (a triangle in a box) opens and closes the Genius side bar...just a tip.

Not that impressed:

- To enable Genius, you need the sidebar enabled, which is just advertising.
- Automatic playlists aren't that great. I chose New Soul by Yael Naim (from the Macbook Air adverts). I got a playlist with the rolling stones and snow patrol, despite having more fitting things like Chopin in the library.
- Lots of my songs aren't on the iTunes store (or I would have bought them from there, duh). No genius for those.

Just sent a bug report to apple. G3 iBook running the latest version of tiger. iTunes crashes when it is running through the album artwork. I can't even stop it before it crashes so iTunes is unusable.

I wish that the SD versions were hidden when you purchase the HD version. It should be transparent when the SD versions are used for iPod/iPhone. I don't want to stare at two different versions all the time!

multiple libraries

Anyone see multi-library support in iTunes 8? Just wondering if I can finally hold both Apple lossless files and 128kbps conversions within the same iTunes interface at the same time in separate libraries of "quality," so as to fit more on my portable devices (iPod, shuffle, iPhone).

I bet no.

Luckily Apple just took away the GUI. Do the following in Terminal (after quitting iTunes first):

Code:
defaults write com.apple.itunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE

It still sucks Apple ditched the GUI, but at least there's a workaround.

Jens
Wow, that works great! Thank you :)

this blows

iTunes 8

Macintosh software requirements:
* Mac OS X version 10.4.9 or later

was not expecting this. now i need a new laptop

Mhhh... The first thing I noticed was a lot of my songs are missing!! I don't think iTunes caused this but it sucks :(
