Two things

I don't appreciate the assumption that those who downloaded apps were obviously the ones who downloaded the pre-official firmware release. I have downloaded quite a few apps, simply waiting for the official release. I would also like to point out that the link in the Itunes store for the App store has now disappeared, but you can still access the apps from the link in your library.

*can't wait!*

There are a lot of nice, free apps available. I don't mind paying, but I can't wait to see what other apps show up soon.

Need a good IM and IRC app.

:)

If Apple were to truly be the forward-thinking company with it's customers, vs profit, in mind, they'd end this ridiculous, insulting and annoying 0.99 thing, and just round it to a nice simple buck, or two.

Blame the customers, not the companies. People buy more .99 things than 1.00 things. Companies wouldn't do it if it didn't help sales.

If customers are being "insulted" by prices like that, they're the ones who've earned the insult.

Image if the 8GB Touch as $199

It would be the new DS + PSP

Wait until it includes a slide out... touch screen!

I'm really hoping apple will implement a "slide out" version of the phone that includes a second touch screen. That would perhaps solve the "keyboard" complaint some people have (full screen keyboard would be easier to use). In addition, it would make this thing rock like a DS...

Demo

I really wish you could demo some of the apps before you plunk down the money for them, especially the games. I can just see myself buying a game for 10 bucks and either not really liking it or becoming bored with it fast.

They could use the same technology that they use with rented movies but make the rental time like an hour and then the app/game self deletes itself.
Oh well.

Just to let everyone know before they bash Apple. The DEVS decide the countries of launch, not Apple.

EDIT: The screen shots of the submission process were removed due to Apple Legal as per Appleinsider's webpage that covered this. It explained how the Devs submit and define distribution of app.

I have found that several apps are not available to Canadian iTunes Store users, AOL Radio and the Google app to amongst them. Is this temporary or are the apps going to be limited distribution by country.

As for someone comments about the $40 app. It is a professional grade flight information app used by pilots around the world.

Unfortunately, the AOL Radio app is only available to users in the US, and that's not likely to change. Apple gives developers the option of distributing apps for the whole world or by country, and so you'll likely to see some apps that are specific to one or another region. Mapping, local, and media apps are probably good candidates for apps that will fall into this category.

Sorry,
-The AOL Radio team

Interesting. I wonder why as a developer you'd limit yourself to sales to a certain portion of the world. Unless your particular app uses encryption technology that legally restricts it from import/export laws, I'd think all the devs would choose to distribute to the biggest audience possible.

Netter's Anatomy

Slightly surprised more people haven't bought the anatomy app yet. I realize it's pricey but medical people are used to this as books can cost us a fortune. That and it seems like a very well done app. With it being demo'ed in the video I thought that would perk more interest.

Time will tell I guess.

I bought the anatomy app! As a massage therapy student, I anticipate this app being an invaluable learning tool/study aid. Once I complete my program and become a Certified Massage Therapist, I anticipate this app evolving into a teaching tool; I'll be able to use it as an educational aid for my clients.

You'd think so wouldn't you? I was really hoping this would be one type of 'content' that wouldn't get split and divided by region, but nope..

I guess if you are supplying commercial software, there may be some legal obligation to provide some level of customer support according to the laws of the country in which you're selling; hence smaller developers may not be in a position to provide that.

And to think you only have the hardcore users on itunes app store at the moment.

I can see those numbers going up 10~100x in the next few days as the more mainstream user explores the store.

I'm a bit sad today. We submitted our app on Sunday - and its still not up. Now granted I know there are thousands of apps waiting to be approved, but we did hit Apple's deadline before the 7th. AND just now I noticed our "submitted" date was changed to the 9th! No way!

Oh well - take a look at what the app is here:

That's coming (at the earliest) in September, I believe. That "push" service for developers is hosted on Apple's end and it won't be active til around then.

Facebook has it ??? for their messages, just not facebook chat yet. I see what your saying tho

quick question.

Where do you go to see how many times the app has been purchased/downloaded? I'm looking, but don't see it.

Use the on-device App Store. It shows you download info. iTunes on the desktop doesn't for some reason.
