China and Brazil have huge populations, those might be good candidates... hmm, I'd have to think of where else makes sense, I'm sure there's many places...

This is the first time I see someone put my country as a target for the iTMS! I hope Steve read this!

Brazil is rich in music and music market. It must be a rich country in all aspects once you know that an iMac entry level costs about US$ 3,500.00 over here  And people buy it!!!!

anyone want to bet on the price points....in $AU only

I say
$3.99 for a new single
$2.99 for an older song
$21.99 for an album

Any other takers....person closest to the correct price wins a shiny new ipod video...

PS
only kidding about the shiny ipod video bit

Well unless something has changed since April when the store was -><- this close to opening the prices will be as follows:

Single song: AUD$1.69
Album: AUD$16.99
TV Show: Someone said $3.39

I still have my credit card bill from April with the iTMS entry on it. So cool.

I don't want iTunes!!! Now lets see if my negative wish comes true!!

After years of hoping for the arrival of iTunes Australia and being let down every time a keynotes springs up. I figure if I dont want it, we will get it. Its a case of reverse psychology.

If we get it Wooohoot! if not then Woohoot as well, at least my wish came true.

I'm actually beginning to doubt that man landed on the moon in 1969.
(for lots of reasons including: they went to the moon with a computer less powerful than the one in a washing machine yet they can't synchronise a set of traffic lights along a mian road in any capital city in Australia)
They'll tease us for a week, announce the date for a week later, disappear back to the US and blame further delays for the store on a record company.

The key words being "in Australia." The US went to the moon  :D ;)

Well, Neil Armstrong went to the moon, for the US to go to the moon it would take a much bigger rocket. There's a lot of Americans and they're not all gonna fit in that little capsule...

But have no fear, I'm currently designing a rocket that will send all Americans to the moon. Leaving Cupertino abandoned for me to plunder - then we'll let you come back so that Steve can get on with things. Don't worry, shouldn't take more than a day or two.

lol, u serious?

You gotta be kidding about these prices?? $3.99? Come on... this is RRP already! I would NEVER pay $4 for a song cause the Kmarts or BigWs down the road sell ** a single with a nice cover, album art... and the actual cd!! ** for less than that!

$1.69 sounds good (as the papers are telling us) but BigPond lets u download songs for 99c

There's something marketable about 99c. (I'm not familiar with how bigpond controls the license of the music u download so I can't say if they're better or whatever but seriously... 99c just sounds so cheap!)

But then again... something's marketable about the number 69... ;)

I'd rather pay more to anybody else than less to Telstra.

I hate them sooo much.

iTms Argentina?

What are the likes of Apple giving Argentina an iTms? By the most part, there isn't an online service here that will let you buy music legally.

Truth be told, by the looks of things, the chances of us getting an iTms ..is rather slim. :(

Well - we think Neil Armstrong went to the moon. Could have been a Hollywood movie for all we know!
Maybe we could put Jobs in charge of the space program and they could then get their sh%t together.
Actually, put him in charge of US Highways - then maybe the traffic sh&tfight I put up with for three years in Atlanta would get solved!
But seriously, I am looking forward to getting digital versions of some old Aussie vinyl on my Ipod.
Currently have a US and UK account - looking forward to adding Australia as well.
Let me tell everybody back home - Itunes Music Store ROCKS!!!!! The way you listen to music will change forever.

I know....exxy as it sounds...but, the reason why I chose those figures is
a) the exchange rate sucks between $us and $au
b) looking at the english version of itunes
c) the volatility of the australian dollar in itself and the fact some padding must be inplace to ensure that when the dollar falls some profit percent is retained
d) the greed of the australian music industry

the prices are high that I gave...and maybe there is a 15 - 20% leeway...but probably not much more...I dread to think about the price of video...

Unless there have been some big changes, the songs will be $1.69. I know this because I bought a song from the iTMS Australia back in April, all the available songs - most of them newly released singles were $1.69, all the albums I saw were $16.99.

$17 is too much for me given the low BPM and DRM. $3-$8 more will give me everything else.

Haha. Well, your not the first to want the see the entire US go to the moon ;)

I, like aswitcher, am more hopeful with these recent developments than any of the other false attempts / rumours / guesses people have projected.

Media event planned, and allegedly two senior Apple people on their way...
fingers crossed...

Anyone in Australia notice the gratuitous broadcasting of the new iPod commercial during the Arias (Australian Record Industry Awards) tonight?
