Here is what I see.

I don't know what the page is you're trying to hit. Maybe it doesn't exist.

On iTMS, I'm no longer getting the white-on-black showtime message.

I now get a pop-up that says: "iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The Music Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

Hooray! Something new.

This came up a while ago, a lot of people thought it would just be better to donate a sum of money rather than buying a product from which a sum of money would go to charity. Not too sure how well it would be received, there aren't too many associated companies at the moment.

I'd like to see Apple take on such an initiative on their own and quietly rather than a song and dance fanfare with the charity worker of the moment, Bono. Including MacBooks and iMacs might be cool but I doubt they'd sell all that well - the red colour they use for this promotion is quite garish, imagine a 24" iMac the same colour as a U2 iPod clickwheel and you'd get the picture.

It's a good idea but I think it could have been done better.

Are you talking about the Apple online store?

Kind of early for the stores to go down.Usually it's about an hour before Keynote.

Yup. Only these four seems to be down.

EDIT: Yes I mean Online store only. Not iTMS.

I've been using the Internet to contact all my people involved in Apple in some way, and I've been able to discern some quite increadible information. You may have to sit down before reading this, as a lot of this is going to come as a great surprise and shock. Essentially, there's going to be an announcement later today (as you may already know), and here's what it's about:

1. Something to do with movies.
2. An iPod. Maybe an upgrade to an existing model, or perhaps something completely different.
3. Possibly some other products, but also possibly not.
4. Something that involves the iTunes Music Store. Might be (1).

Now, I've been doing some research, and I'm going go for a 99% probability that there will be no iMac or Mac mini upgrades this week. Sorry about that. I know it's a downer for many of you, but my sources say no. There will, in all likelihood, be no new Mac Pro or Xserve either. I'm not going to comment on the laptops, I mean, I can't rule out an upgrade, but I can't rule one in either.

Also I've done some research, and right now I believe Apple will not, absolutely not, release a Powerbook based on the G5 processor. At least, not at this show.

Has anyone seen anything that would confirm this? I'm talking about perhaps, say, references to movies on a German Quicktime page? Or has anyone tried http://www.apple.com/movies, is this a normal 404 or is there anything unusual about the page? Has anyone checked to see if Apple has registered iphone.org (iPod Home Orthogonal Networked Entertainment) or some other give-away DNS name?

rofl - nice one

I'm getting similar networking errors/ unknown errors on the U.S. store as well. Just started happening for me.

edit: we are all on the same page, literally.

Same here. Earlier it had the black page with dear words on it. Now I just get that error.

Edit: Did I mention my left hand has been num since I woke up? Hmm...

Hilarious.

I need to confirm some of this, so maybe I'll google google google google google it.

Thank, peharri, i needed that laugh. :D

Btw, i heard something about Apple buying Sony, Nintendo, Samsung, and Dairy Queen. Heard anything on that? :p

...if it is only Disney...

We are all hyping on this 'Disney only' thing?
Rumors have abound for the last couple of weeks that Apple will release a 'Movie' store.
We all say 'Hey, Steve is on Disney's BOD therefore Disney movies for sure'
And 'But other studios are still negotiating'
So 'Only Disney then me thinks'

I think we will see several Studios available from the start - but different content in different markets as the release schedule for major movies still varies country-to-country (especially in Japan :( )

Now now! Let's all calm down shall we!

Realise everyone is understandably very excited about today's impending news, but let's all remember we're ONLY TALKING ABOUT AN APPLE PRODUCT LAUNCH.

Keep it pleasant.

:)

I really think someone needs to rework the way forums/blogs are written. 1/2 of the posts are dupes and people only read the first 1 or 2 pages or the last. Somehow, as one types in something, if apple could use spotlight technology that would bring those other posts in a translucent window ontop of what you are writing so you can actually see what others have written.

So, if I just opened this thread and there were 500 pages of posts and I wanted to add a coment but didn't know if somoene shared my idea already as I would start typing. " I found apple movies on the german or swedish page" Or " check this out apple.com/movies" a translucent popup or something would hover over your input that would in realtime show that others had already posted this.

Forums suck when it actually comes to info since 1/2 or more is just reposts of the same info and the info we are actually looking for becuase lost in a pile of reposts ontop of reposts.

That's a good idea. Something similar to what Firefox does, except it would search an entire thread, not just the current page. If you type in "German", it would narrow it down and just display posts that had that word in it already and highlight the word "German". Then you could click and see the entire posts if desired. It would be something faster than the "Search" option available on most forums and easier than loading and going through all the pages indivudallly on a thread. Basically Spotlight + Firefox.

Maybe that will be announced for Safari at the next media event. :)

btw does everyone know they can change how many posts show up on a page in Macrumors under User CP > Edit Options up to 40 posts per page? That saves a lot of time in page loads and looking for what's already been posted (using "Find" in Safari or Firefox for example) for long threads like these.

Your "predictions" and "increadible information" indeed comes with great "surprise and shock".
Worth the laugh!

I would hope that if they've closed all the stores, that they will have some new media for all the stores - otherwise it's just a really stupid decision by Apple!

Let's remeber the decision is not Apple's alone -- we all tend to forget that Apple is providing access to other companies services -- like music and TV shows ( and movies as of today I hop!) -- so Apple does have to play with others too (but can at least be the big brother/boss and getting most of it's way!)

Anyone else notice they said "iTunes Store" instead of "iTunes Music Store?"

Looks like there's a fundamental shift in how iTunes' store will work. Frankly, I hope they make video browsing and searching more intuitive and distinct from the audio.

Could we be seeing a live stream?

ps I apologise if this has been posted. It's late here in Aus.

Don't think it's a live feed, that looks like the QT page for when the recorded event is posted later in the day.

Less than 2.5 hours to go now folks, time to batton down the hatches and get ready for the show.

5000th post.

EDIT - Oops, no it wasn't.

Now that you mention it, we could be getting a live feed, there's definitely some content there.
