Anyone else notice they said "iTunes Store" instead of "iTunes Music Store?"

Looks like there's a fundamental shift in how iTunes' store will work. Frankly, I hope they make video browsing and searching more intuitive and distinct from the audio.

Thats because the shift is going to go to iTunes Media Store.

I've been using the Internet to contact all my people involved in Apple in some way, and I've been able to discern some quite increadible information. You may have to sit down before reading this, as a lot of this is going to come as a great surprise and shock. Essentially, there's going to be an announcement later today (as you may already know), and here's what it's about:

1. Something to do with movies.
2. An iPod. Maybe an upgrade to an existing model, or perhaps something completely different.
3. Possibly some other products, but also possibly not.
4. Something that involves the iTunes Music Store. Might be (1).

Now, I've been doing some research, and I'm going go for a 99% probability that there will be no iMac or Mac mini upgrades this week. Sorry about that. I know it's a downer for many of you, but my sources say no. There will, in all likelihood, be no new Mac Pro or Xserve either. I'm not going to comment on the laptops, I mean, I can't rule out an upgrade, but I can't rule one in either.

Also I've done some research, and right now I believe Apple will not, absolutely not, release a Powerbook based on the G5 processor. At least, not at this show.

Has anyone seen anything that would confirm this? I'm talking about perhaps, say, references to movies on a German Quicktime page? Or has anyone tried http://www.apple.com/movies, is this a normal 404 or is there anything unusual about the page? Has anyone checked to see if Apple has registered iphone.org (iPod Home Orthogonal Networked Entertainment) or some other give-away DNS name?

What is that taste in my mouth. Oh OH- Mockery. Delicious Peharri, thank you!

I'm not getting any audio on the "video on demand" QT on Apple's site. I just see them talking about previously released products.

Hooray! Something new.

This came up a while ago, a lot of people thought it would just be better to donate a sum of money rather than buying a product from which a sum of money would go to charity. Not too sure how well it would be received, there aren't too many associated companies at the moment.

I'd like to see Apple take on such an initiative on their own and quietly rather than a song and dance fanfare with the charity worker of the moment, Bono. Including MacBooks and iMacs might be cool but I doubt they'd sell all that well - the red colour they use for this promotion is quite garish, imagine a 24" iMac the same colour as a U2 iPod clickwheel and you'd get the picture.

It's a good idea but I think it could have been done better.

Yeah I don't see a bright red 24" imac working too well. Sunglasses may be required. On the other hand, if something in the RED line *is* introduced, I forsee another forum war with posts slating Bono for having the audacity to raise awareness of African issues whilst - NO! - still being a multi millionaire. The last, erm, debate was so much fun!

they use "video on demand".. have they used that term before in reference to a stream?
Okay, I can watch the keynote, but the audio is all a monotone signal. Agh!

This has been noticed. However, surely the fact it's still called iTunes store shouldn't be ignored?

Could we be looking at the launch of the iMovie store???

Isn't "iTunes Movie Store" a wee bit incongruous?

I wouldn't take all the iTunes stores being down as being a sign of new contect (ie movies) for everyone. It could just be that they all run off the same database or system, so when major changes are made they all come down.

I must admit I can't figure out why they need to shut their web shops and iTunes down for updates. Except for dramatic effect. No other excuse - I've moved my online shops to a completely re-written system, new database, new server, new ip address with just 30 minutes down time (20 of which was testing).
