Yup. I remember when U2 was good. Think it was about 14 years ago now.
Great link.

they're still good, just not nearly as creative.

edit: what I'm saying is, they were much hungrier to make amazing music back then, than now.

This has been noticed. However, surely the fact it's still called iTunes store shouldn't be ignored?

Could we be looking at the launch of the iMovie store???

Isn't "iTunes Movie Store" a wee bit incongruous?

Yeah. It's too bad Apple doesn't have a well-established cross-platform piece of software that enables users to play video. If they did, I'd certainly wager that they would release the movie store under that banner...

I got in but it won't let me click on anything.

True!

the link posted earlier was a good link! from apple as far as i can tell. the 2005 copyright doesn't matter, it's the same copyright as on the WWDC 2006 keynote address page. I just tried using the link again for today's special event. instead of getting the wwdc keynote i got last time, it now gives a 404. Good job whoever found it first!

Did anyone notice that good morning america said that Apple WILL be starting a movie download service? I wonder how they confirmed that.

"Buddy"

I am a full time video editor buddy. Here is some proof for you. I was not being a jerk, just being honest. This is TV standard def. resolution.

People oftentimes perceive aggression in the use of "buddy". If you don't mean to sound like a jerk, quit throwing "buddy" around, buddy. ;)

Widescreen aspect ratio is 16:9. There's also another format which is 2.35:1, not sure what it's called.

could be called anamorph ?!?

There are lots of aspect ratios! The most common are 4:3 (standard definition TV and movies before the 1950s), 16:9 (HD TV, also called 1.78:1), 1.66:1 (some movies, but this is slightly less wide than HD TV), 1.85:1 (most common movie aspect ratio) and 2.35:1. There are others as well, but the vast majority of videos/films are one of these.

Anamorphic is something else. Anamorphic is the process of stretching an image to use the fully available space. In other words, the piece of film is still 4:3 in size, but you stretch a 2.35:1 image to 4:3 to use the full negative. Then it is put back to the right size when it is projected. It involves lenses on the projector and the camera, and in the case of DVDs, digital stretching. (see this article if you're still confused).

It gets pretty complicated.

Nope. Anamorphic has nothing to do with aspect ratio. An analog 16:9 widescreen broadcast/DVD/whatever is always anamorphic because the actual picture is 4:3 and is streched to fit a 16:9 tube.

16:9 HDTV is no longer anamorphic as the picture itself is natively widescreen with no stretching required.

2.35:1 is just a wider aspect ratio than a 16:9 although usually contained in a 16:9 aspect ratio (dvds with black borders on top and bottom on 16:9 sets).

Joshua.

Yeah. I knew that. I was just testing you. Well done, you passed.

Ahem. :p

Don't you get the World of Warcraft signifigance!!!

WoW where have you guys been?!?! Don't you realize that the World of Warcraft servers are down today for 'extra' maintenance time. Don't you get it? Apple and Blizzard are teaming up to put WoW on the new multifuntion all-you-can-eat iPod!! The movie store is just a sideline item. It should be obvious from the quicktime lower left posts we keep seeing.

We stand corrected...

I beg to differ. 2.40:1 in terms of shooting on film is achieved by using an anamorphic lens, it is known (as was 2.35:1) as widescreen anamorphic.

whadda ya mean "confirm"? It's a morning talk show/news show. Since when do those shows care if they've got confirmation (or even the right information)! ;)
