The gizmodo "leak" has already been posted elsewhere, I think it's just an educated guess. Should be fairly close, but things like pricing and the name (TubePort???) are probably wrong (hopefully).

All the "tubes" references are jokes pointed at Senator Ted Stevens, who compared internet to a series of tubes.

these iphone rumors are ridiculous. they are going to go on for 7 months just like the macbook rumors. or at least until the end of the year.

They've used phobos as the iTunes server (at least for external links) for a long time now. Any iTMS link on a website uses phobos.apple.com.

I am not getting a black screen...

ooh, that's a new weird one. I like it!

As of today Forums are officially EOL... no one reads what the heck is between the lines...if I had put a telephone number between pages 6 and 8 in corresponding posts and I said call this within 2 minutes and I'll give you $50 no one would even no it's there... All we are doing on this forum is regurgitating 200 peoples ideas... Forums are becoming worthless. Tell me the info in all 500 posts before I have to read all 500 posts... Somehow using RSS or something like apples slider I would like to see what people are saying without having to look through pages and pages of post.

NO WAY will someone read through 30 pages of post, no way.. so, they look at the first page skip to the last and give their though, which was already on page 3, 8, 9, 12 and 15 of the damn thread... come on world give us forum software that is. good.

Think of it like this. I am in a room with 500 people, as you talk you listen, you don't restate what someone stated 35 minutes or 3 hours ago. That is how forums should be. And if i started talking about something, a flag or something would popup and say... JOE already said that, or Billy talked about that 15 minutes ago on page 4. Come on Apple create the next killer app already with iforums 2.0. and spotlight technology built into the macrumors forums.

Now here is something that is actually new. All iPods (5G, Nano and Shuffle) are constrained. This is usually because of 1 of 3 factors:

1 - It's new and US gets all the product first
2 - Manufacturing supply issues
3 - Product is being updated

Now there haven't been any supply issues with any iPods of late (as far as I know anyway) especially with the Shuffle. Maybe they are dropping the shuffle line altogether or maybe there are going to be updates to all models. But I would say almost without question that we will see new nano's and 6G's (or perhaps just updated 5G's).

Just something new to ponder.

Do I get bonus points for being the first one to question the authenticity of that link? :)

I used to be easily fooled by fakes, but finally after years of following Macrumors I've learned to trust no one, especially right before a media event/keynote. :D

Certainly some of the info out there about the event must be correct, if nothing else just the law of probability says so. :)

edgesuite.net is where the akamai streams come from

from the movie info :

This is real.

Kudos to you.... I just tried to get to that page thru the Quicktime site and all the events are old.

I totally agree and I hate the hypocracy and crassness of Bono to be totally anti industrial and anti capitalism yet put his name on and make a big fat profit out of an iPod, the irony. And I used to have respect for U2......

And all you who hates U2 check out Maddox it brings up some nice points....

Yup. I remember when U2 was good. Think it was about 14 years ago now.
Great link.

Clicking on the WWDC video takes you to a similar edgesuite.net URL.

http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/sep_2006/event/index.html seems valid for this Showtime event, just not set-up correctly yet.

And the copyright is © 2005 on that very legitimate WWDC 2006 page as well. You're right, it very well may be legit but just not ready.

Do I get points taken off for being the first one to incorrectly question the link's authenticity?

And ct2000 for posting a link to a page that has had the same effect for two years.

I'm getting so frustrated with the newbies tonight. Guys, if you're new and you think you have new information, you don't. We're right on top of the info here.

Woah! Chill out! Take some time off MacRumors! Not everybody has your infallible forum etiquette, and not everybody has been following every post since the dawn of time so as to avoid reposts.
When does the keynote start, GMT? ;-)

I nominate you to program this new kind of forum that detects what people are saying and organizes it so we don't have reposts and everything is relevant.

I beg to differ, I've read each and every post - of course I started when there were only 3 pages. So I'd have called you for the 50 bucks.

Isn't it anamorphic??

Nope. Anamorphic has nothing to do with aspect ratio. An analog 16:9 widescreen broadcast/DVD/whatever is always anamorphic because the actual picture is 4:3 and is streched to fit a 16:9 tube.

16:9 HDTV is no longer anamorphic as the picture itself is natively widescreen with no stretching required.

2.35:1 is just a wider aspect ratio than a 16:9 although usually contained in a 16:9 aspect ratio (dvds with black borders on top and bottom on 16:9 sets).

Joshua.
