ITV Executives Reportedly 'Furious' Over Rumored Apple TV Name Change
Is it not clear that apple has i everything? I mean unless their company is really old they shouldnt have named it itv. I mean it sound like they named it itv just to get people to go to their channel thinking it is apple.
ITV is the oldest commercial television network in the UK, having begun broadcasting in 1955.

Call it an "iTele" in Britain "iTV" everywhere else!
I would never say 'tele' or 'telly'! But I would never call the supper 'tea' either.
1) ITV is not exactly a high quality broadcaster. Even Channel 5 has better quality programming on it.
2) Apple have enough money to just buy ITV. And then close it all down, which is for the best.
To begin with, "tele" sounds old. Brings images of telegraphs, teletypes and rotary telephones --"tele" was your grandfather's "i", like "e" was for your father.
Not television, TV; internetvision, iV
Ah, but because we live in a 'doomy?' island, it means our women aren't so keen to get plastic t*ts to display in the sun. Fake false plastic t*ts. We also do not get earthquakes or destructive hurricanes, not like you do anyway, or feel the need to drop nuclear weapons and kill 260,000 people..... And I also seem to remember we do not have an industry based here that makes billions by showing filth and sluts on the screen?we are only a second world island in your blinded eyes mate, I guess you have been watching too much of your country's filth on telly? Do you need any kleenex?
So to summarise:
People on here don't like to check that ITV has a trademark on digital content boxes (erm, isn't that what Apple TV essentially is?)
Apple should just buy Britain.
Wow, that will be interesting! Don't mess with the Brits![]()
Not sure why they just don't stick with Apple TV, unless of course they have plans down the road for this thing to take over cable and movie rentals/on-demand, just like iTunes did.
And I'm pretty sure ITV doesn't have a case here... wouldn't you think Apple's lawyers would have made sure the name iTV was locked up back in 2006 when this thing first launched?
The whole issue is Apple has become so innovative in so many ways, that they're now being sued for things they created the idea for years ago!
of which the eyeTV is essentially also, and likely to cause brand confusion for both ITV and the mythical iTV.
Did ITV ever challenge the use of the Trademark eyeTV in britain?
If no then ITV has possibly lost it trademark on digital content boxes.
p.s. I don't believe the rumour to start with Apple started with iTV and most likely moved away when they found it wan't a defendable trademark nothing has changed why dig it up again?
ITV vs iTV.... I see that's how this case will be played out in Apple's favour...
