let's entertain the notion that it's not wrist based. We know that they ordered curved glass.....

And designers are involved...

Could it be shades?

nahhh....lenses are not made from glass anymore right?

Let's say there is no screen and instead you upload your music to your apple sports goggles...which are providing you with music during your workout and after you are back with your phone airdrop the health data collected in sports goggle frame to phone.

I'm looking forward to this thing's release, so MacRumors will stop shoving these ugly concept images in our faces.

Is this watch going to be running "full" iOS 8? Or some cut-down version of it? Or some other light-weight OS completely (like the original iPods did)? As a developer I'm very curious about how this is going to work. Full iOS 8 would be great, obviously, but that's going to be a real challenge for battery life of what I'm assuming will be a very small device. And even then, Apple will need whole new APIs for dealing with a tiny interface.

With WWDC just passed, will they be releasing special videos? Would seem odd for them to just dump an entirely new API and possibly new OS on developers with no conference or videos to go along with it until next year. Then again, with the device probably not being available until next year, maybe they'll just treat the coming months as a long beta for developers to figure it out and see what they come up with before making adjustments before the device release, and WWDC 2015.

Damn, the wait is driving me nuts :) Can't remember anticipating an Apple event like this (other than WWDC) for years.

I pity all the people who claim to have read my file. What you don't understand is that this is MR. People here expect posts to have a certain douche factor, and without that your posts won't be well received. Here's the top rated posts on the story before this one-

"Please MacRumors, spend 10 minutes on finding new and better mockups.."
"Every time that mockup is shown, an angel loses it's wings."
"This iWatch mockup looks uglier than a Galaxy Gear..."
etc. etc.

That's pretty much how this forum goes- there are no thoughtful posts that get recognized. When I'm at Ars, I post under my real name and the tone is very different, but you have to match the culture of the site you are at or you just get super frustrated. As you are, apparently, when you read my posts. Have a nice day.
Oh brother.

The ATV has third party apps right now.

That comment is about as useless and intentionally snarky as the answers given back when people asked when the iPhone would finally get multitasking: "I play music in iTunes, and then open Safari while it continues to play. Is this not multitasking?"

Yeah, cause you know exactly how the iWatch will work. Maybe you should let people who've actually used the device (which right now is Apple) decide?

Exactly... we have no idea what kind of apps these are. For argument's sake the guidelines could be extremely tight and we might be seeing large medical companies...etc making apps rather than kids in the den wearing only their underpants 24/7 in an attempt to become millionaires by creating the latest fad.

The apps could be restricted to companies making innovative devices who have already told Apple 'I want my device to work with the iWatch' or... Apple's approached them and said 'your device is cool, MAKE IT WORK WITH THE IWATCH!!!!'

Apps could be anything. Without seeing the device, I'm guessing we're not gonna see 1,000,000 Angry Birds and Flappy Bird clones on day 1. That's Android style!!

Seems like standard procedure, I'm not too excited for this product... But I'm interested in seeing what this product will be at the event.

Hello Nike+

Would be awesome... IF iwatch has a built in GPS. If it relies on a pedometer it will be too inaccurate for me to care, and if it requires the iPhone for gps, I'd rather just carry the iPhone than carry the iPhone AND wear the watch. Hopefully they get this right in a way that's useful for serious runners. Otherwise, I'll stick with garmin.

This is great! Just means there might be a period of darkness in terms of content for the iWatch a few months after it's released to give developers time to build apps.

People are acting like Apple have already announced the iWatch.
This article other articles and analysts are doing that.

People are acting like Apple have already announced the iPhone 6.
Everyone is doing this, there is even people already camping out Apple stores for it.

I would laugh if Federighi had a slide up of some of the iPhone 6 or iWatch analyst renderings and say "These renderings are a great example of what Apple will never do. But all of you here know that right? Must be work from our competitors" And totally pay out all the rumour sites and people that think things can be confirmed before Apple speaks.

Is it just me or do you guys also think this watch needs to be at least water proof to 10m or something? I mean especially if its as expensive as they say. How can you even contemplate having a smart watch when you can't even wear it jogging in the rain or or put it in the shower. Especially since this will be linked to Health Kit etc. If this thing isn't water proof I'll be shocked. Also hoping the watch has a heart rate monitor so we can ditch chest straps. I wonder what kind of sensor they'll use.

True on both accounts. Bluetooth is a battery killer for sure!

With Bluetooth 4 (i.e. Bluetooth LE or "Low Energy"), it shouldn't be a huge problem for headphones. If you're using it to scan for beacons continuously or whatever, yeah, it would be bad, but for just streaming audio to a known accessory at close range, it should be OK.
